Anthony fell asleep hours ago, slumped and snoring against the window. Which he was so furiously attempting to smash just moments before he fell asleep. The broken android beside me made occasional sparking sounds but it's currently regaining its power. I managed to fix him with the limited resources that are readily available.
It's dead silent. The room's walls, windows, and door morphed into soundproof material so no sound really got in nor out. It's maddening. Hours and hours of total silence, just the sounds of my brother snoring and the android struggling for its life. I resorted to counting my spare nuts and bolts I kept underneath my bed. It was that boring.
"Yo...young ma-ma-master..." The android sputtered to life beside me, there was no sound of breathing because I had to change him into battery saving mode, so all human-like functions is currently disabled.
"Dad's android is awake!"
"What the hell! Ashton! That hurt! Sh1t." He rubbed circles over his stomach, on top of the area that I hit. His mouth fell slightly ajar when his eyes landed on the panting android that's fighting to stay conscious. "Woah, you got him to...work,"
I scrambled back to get to the android, sitting by its head. "Quick, eject memory chip," My hands were shaking, I was flapping them around, not knowing where to touch, or where to check. He looked like he didn't understand at first, staring off into space and spazzing a bit. But then his eyes refocused and turned a healthy shade of blue.
"Memory chip, ejecting." A small card, probably just around a centimeter long and wide, slid out of a re-opened slot on his temple. The android slumped back down, completely unmoving as the light in its eyes dimmed down, and Anthony stared at me like I was a maniac or something.
"So, what are you going to do with that?" He asked pointing to the small, delicate chip in my open palm.
"They must've torn him apart for something, we need to find out what it is." I wrapped the chip in layers of paper and stuffed it in my pocket. "Okay, so we need a game plan," I sat down and looked at Anthony expectantly.
"You're looking at me?! I was the one who was trying to escape for over an hour ." He raised an eyebrow at me, crossing his arms in the process.
"And-"
A loud explosion shook the entire house, knocking both of us to the floor as a loud ringing sound stayed resonating in my ear. I hear multiple voices shouting, and a lot of clattering coming from downstairs. It sounds like a bunch of metal fell to the floor and multiple loud thumps against the walls. I ran towards the door as I heard stomping footsteps that got closer and closer towards our door.
"Help! Help! We're in here!" I banged my fists against the metal doors, which I, later on, though was quite stupid of me.
"Help us out asshole!"
I pulled Anthony back from the door, giving him a good, cold, hard glare straight to his idiotic face. "You think this person would still gladly help us if call them an asshole?" The metal door open with a bang as it slammed against the wall of my, used to be, bedroom. My head whipped towards the door faster than the speed of a cow.
"Hayden?!" I was incredibly surprised to see, this person who supposedly hates us with every inch of his being. But lo and behold, he's here, in the flesh, doing whatever it is he's doing. I'm hoping that he's here to save us and not to lead us to our potentially early graves. That's right, people died from the burning before, most of the people survived but there's always that small percentage that dies from it. Considering how young Anthony and I still are, we have a high percentage that we'll die from it.
"yes, it's me, Let's go before the androids of the city go on red alert," He stayed by the door, waiting for either one of us to make a move, which was, of course, had to be me. Anthony stood there, gaping at Hayden like he's lost grip with his brain or something.
"You're trusting him? The Prince of The Eye?" You know, maybe he has indeed lost touch with reality and all he needs is probably a good thwack under the head to set him straight.
"He just blew up our house, I think he's no longer going to be accepted there anymore," I said looking at Hayden as he stood next to me, his hair and clothes a mess as he pretended to not be exhausted from whatever he was doing prior.
"Great, good, welcome to the vigilante club now can we please go?" Hayden said looking at his watch and peering down the stairs occasionally.
"Sure, sure, but I'm keeping a close eye on you, you slimy git." Anthony narrowed his eyes at the boy beside me, who only rolled his eyes in response.
"Whatever, Let's just go," I followed behind Hayden, Anthony just right beside me, as he led us downstairs, and whoo boy, was I not ready to see the utter mess that was ready to greet us. There was a hologram where the front double doors used to be. Rubble and, oh there's the doors, were scattered on the living room floor. Two dastardly animals were bound by rope and were struggling angrily as the two glared at us. The furniture was upturned and it looked like they were used to hide behind, something of the sort.
"Wait," Anthony was the one to stop us this time, he was looking back at the pair that was bound, glaring while our mother also supported a satisfying trail of tears.
"What is it this time?" I watched as Anthony knelt down in front of our mother, who was 100 percent willing to let me and him go through the burning just so she could get on with her life. Yeah, no, not gonna act like she's my mother anymore. But, well, if Anthony still wants to, then I'm not-
SLAP
Anthony was crouching in front of her, his hand hang loosely by his side, her cheek was red as she stared at Anthony in complete and utter horror. "A parting gift, from me to you, Martha." He stood up and I got a clearer view of his face. There were unshed tears in them as he quickly strode to us, furiously wiping at his eyes.
I looked back at Harley, and he looked genuinely shocked at my brother's display of emotions, he looked back at me and a silent understanding seemed to pass between the two of us, it's better not to talk to Anthony about this. The three of us ran out of the mansion, Anthony lagging a bit back behind me and Hayden.
"So, How are we reaching the outskirts?" We stopped a couple of ways away from the main village gate. We hid behind a wall and peered over to look at them. There were around 2 human guards and 5 androids going around, keeping watch.
"Well, I have a contact waiting for us just outside the station," Hayden once again peeked at the guards. "Maybe if we just walk past, they won't notice anything strange, so catch your breaths." We took a minute to pretend to be normal.
"Wait a minute, c'mere." Anthony pulled Hayden till the boy was right in front of him and proceeded to fix his hair and clothes. "There, now you don't look like a poor rugrat that sneaked in from the 3rd district."
"Sure, let's go." Hayden led the way, followed closely by Anthony and then me. The guards didn't even blink an eye as we passed by, keeping their hawk-eyed gazes on us the entire time. Once we were sure that we were a good distance from them, we broke back into a full-on sprint.
"So, who is this 'contact' that you're speaking off" I spoke up as we got closer and closer to the station.
"Well, there's this drug cartel dealer that owes me a lot, So, I offered that if he takes us out of the civilization, all his debt will be paid off." He said nonchalantly. The station, white walls, and blue translucent glass came up and there was a small, blue, 4-seater car parked in front.
"Is that him?"
"Not sure, Wait let me call him." The three of us stopped just outside of a cafe, out of sight from the android upfront, engaging customers to come in and whatnot. Anthony and I kept watching as Hayden went off to give his supposed contact a call.
"Are we really going to trust him? Hayden?" Anthony pulled me aside, out of earshot from Hayden's call.
"We're already here, besides he's our best shot at leaving this place." I looked back at the boy on call, looking like he's frustrated with the person on the other end of the line.
A car honked behind us, making both of us jump in surprise. I turned to the source and found a sleek, blue van, the tinted windows were hard to see through but they soon turned transparent, there was a small thin guy in front and honestly, he looked like he was no older than 18.
