Welcome back. It has been quite some time since the last analysis of a monster in the Monster Cops Database. Apologies. However, today, we will be looking at another entity in the mythos. Today’s lesson will be Hawr the god of hatred. Hawr is one of the most famous (or rather infamous) entities in the Monster Cops storyline. Just to note, Hawr’s name is pronounced Hah-roo, so there’s no confusion. Anyway, let’s get into the origins.
Monstrum is the domain from which all monsters originate. After Eizeldaine’s betrayal, the world fell into darkness, corruption, and tragedy. In the midst of this treason, there was a king named King Tylaran of Brookewave. Brookewave was a kingdom highly known for its large number of merchants. King Tylaran was a fair king. He was one the few people who stood by Hynypsis during the fall of Monstrum. When the corruption happened, Tylaran was struck with heartbreak that Eizeldaine would betray his brother and doom the world. Tylaran hated Eizeldaine for this.
King Tylaran wanted everyone to know and hate Eizeldaine for this great treachery. However, there was one person he never thought would stand at Eizeldaine’s side. King Tylaran had a daughter, Princess Jazel of Brookewave. Jazel had only one desire, to marry a great king or god. Unfortunately, she’d developed an almost obsessive love of Eizeldaine. When her father discovered this, he was outraged. He decided that instead of having a daughter who stood by a villain, he would rather have no daughter at all.
Thus, King Tylaran cast a great forbidden curse on his daughter, known as the Curse of the Eight Pains. Afterwards, he ordered his daughter be thrown into End’s Time, a bottomless hole located just outside of Outkast. From this hole, she would fall for eternity and never see the surface again. What is the Curse of the Eight Pains? To put it simply, it is a curse that would cause the princess to give birth to eight ungodly entities. Each entity would be unspeakable evil. One of these entities was Hawr.
Hawr was the fourth born of the eight. Hawr is a god who feeds on the hatred brought about through the world. The more hatred in the world, the stronger he is. Hawr is capable of taking any physical form he wishes, but so do most gods. Hawr is almost impossible to destroy on the physical plain, as he has incredibly high regenerative properties. Even if his physical form were to be destroyed, his consciousness would simply find another physical form to overtake.
As it currently stands, Hawr desires to be the most evil being in all of existence. He also desires to be the most powerful. Hawr’s soul cannot see the afterlife, as he is currently banned from heaven and hell. Hawr has also made contact with gods outside of his own mythos. As it stands, Hawr has had misadventures with Zeus, Hades, and even Odin. Out of all the gods, Hawr desires to fight Odin the most.
What does Hawr do now? Well, he’s still doing as he does. At the very least, we’ll never have to worry about him destroying the world. Though he is very capable of doing so, he desires to be worshipped and feared, and he can’t do that if there is no one. He’s still trying to find a way to make contact with the Norse and Greek gods again.
That’s the story of Hawr. Again, he is without a doubt one of the most famous monsters in the Monster Cops story and perhaps even the HoodQuest creations as a whole. After all, he is the being on the very cover of The Monster Hunter’s Collection. That’s something I forgot to mention. Hawr typically takes the form of a black and white clown. Though, he changes his appearance to blend in with whatever time period he’s in.
That’s all for now. Maybe soon, we can talk about the other seven of the Eight Pains. They’re all pretty interesting as well. Either way, we’ll look at something else pretty interesting. Until then, take care of yourselves. I’ll see you in the next one.
