"Excuse me,I would like some help." Tomoe looked like he was about to faint.
"What happened?!" The School Doctor,Amelia Hartmann was extremely worried and rushed straight to Tomoe. She took of his shirt slowly and laid him on the bed. "You're...Teacher Tomoe, right?"
"Mhmm. If you're worried about that cut...it's just an old scar."
"AN OLD SCAR?! IT'S BLEEDING FROM SIDE-TO-SIDE." Which was correct. He had a large scar going from one end to the other end of his stomach.
"OI! Tomoe,is this your bag?" Jason rushed into the room carrying Tomoe's satchel.
"Yep....Pass it here please." After getting his bag back,Tomoe reached into it and took out a sewing kit with a silver-coloured string. "I'm...quite tired.......mind helping sewing back th...my scar?" said Tomoe while passing the sewing kit to Amelia.
She took it but asked Tomoe, "What kind of thread is this?"
"Lumia...a string of silver." She knew that questioning him was wasting time so she went to her cabinet and took her suturing kit. "Use it...Lumia is one...the best way to close up th...my wound."
"...Is it sterilized?"
"Yeah......" Tomoe was starting to faint. She had stopped most of the bleeding but he was still making a blood geyser.
She didn't hesitate and used the silver suture that Tomoe gave her. She was able to close up the wound but Tomoe had already fainted. While he was asleep, she gave him blood and checked the other wounds he had.
After a long while,Tomoe got up. "Ah,you're finally awake." said Dr. Amelia while staring at Tomoe.
"What time is it?"
"You've only been asleep for 3 hours. All your wounds healed extremely fast."
"Genetics,it seems."
"What...exactly are you?"
"Not sure if the Headmaster has told you about us. I'm a Hime. Not to be confused with Hym,the Hime historian."
"He told us a basic overview of your people and the other races. So you're..?"
"Nekohime is our name. Another name is cat people."
"Wait,so which do I use?"
"You can use either one. Or just call us Hime. We really do not care either way."
"Ah..umm,okay."
"One more thing,despite it being pronounced 'Heem',it's spelled 'H - I - M - E"
"You seem energetic despite having a giant gash on your stomach. Mind explaining?"
"Maybe another time. It's so...tiring to tell stories." said Tomoe letting out a huge yawn.
"...Fine,fine. Jason told me what you're like."
"What I'm...like?"
"Usually I would tell you to rest and send you back home but, your wounds closed pretty quickly and I wouldn't think you'd miss an opportunity to talk with your students, right?"
"Heh...It is funny how much 1 person can learn about another just for talking for an hour"
The bell rang. "You should get going. It's the final period of the day."
"Ah,you're right. I shall get going." Tomoe slowly got up and picked up his things. Amelia helped him out the door but, before he left completely, she said,
"Come back here if you ever get hurt again, okay?"
"Okay..."
<An Hour Later>
The first day of school ended. Tomoe was tired and didn't have a place to stay at. He had tons of valuable stuff but he didn't know where to sell it. He looked around but, couldn't find a shop that would buy it. He was starting to get tired and was thinking of just sleeping in the alleyway. He then noticed a police officer in a car making their rounds and he stopped them to ask a question.
"Excuse me,sir?"
They stopped their car and opened the window, "What's up? You a foreigner?"
"Yes,I just arrived here for work but forgot to change my money to Yen. Is there a place where I can sell gems and ore?"
"Gems? Well, you could sell it at a jeweler but there ain't any in this area. Oh yeah! Hey Todd, what's that 1 shop where you can sell basically anything?"
"A pawn shop?" said Todd, the cop who was sitting at the passenger seat right next to driver's.
"Yeah! That one. There should be one nearby. Why don't you hop in the cruiser and we'll bring you there?"
"Is that really okay? Are you 2 not on the clock?"
"We are but there hasn't been many crimes we've had to deal with lately so we just patrol the area. It's our job to help others so we'll help you too!"
"Heh,you're quite nice." said Tomoe as he got in the car. "My name is Tomoe, yours?"
"I'm Paul and my partner over here is Todd."
"Hi. What kind of stuff you got?" Todd talked with Tomoe as they drove to the pawn shop.
"I work under my boss who gave me the opportunity to become a teacher at Kotetsu High for a year. My boss gave me some gems, ore and other items to trade in so I have money to live here."
"Why didn't he just give you the cash straight?"
"I think he wouldn't trust me to know the value of it. I have lost some money before."
"Was it a lot?"
"Hey Todd, you don't have to interrogate him so hard. We've all lost cash in the past before. His boss was just being considerate."
"I hope so."
"Oh! This should be the place. We'll come down with you to make sure you don't get scammed."
"Does that happen often?" They walked into the shop.
"It's been happening more recently. Less violent crimes and more tricks and scams coming out. It's much harder to be convicted that way, after all."
"Welcome! What can I do for my last visitors for today?"
"Did you get some good deals? You seem rather cheery." said Todd
"This is just how I am usually. Name's Rich. Customers tend to shop more if they can interact with the shopkeep. I can get complaints upfront and I can fix them immediately, after all."
"Hm. My friend here has some gems he'd like to sell you, mind checking 'em out?"
"Not at all! Please place them on the counter and I'll check their authenticity straight away."
Tomoe then put gems of several colours on the counter. He placed about 12 or so gems before saying, "I have more but I think this is enough for now."
Rich immediately became suspicious but decided to check them anyway. The face of his surprise when finding out they were 100% authentic was priceless. On top of that, these were gems neither he nor anyone else had ever seen. "These must be eons old and they're still in mint condition?! Where'd you get these?!"
"I got them as a gift from a teacher. Are they valuable."
"Well..."
"HEY!" Paul slammed his hand on the table. "You better not undersell him."
"...I'm not sure what kind of price to put on these things. If I put them at the price they should be,I would be in debt trying to pay him back."
"Then just give me a good price that you can afford. You will be able to sell them to someone else later on,right?" asked Tomoe.
"Well, yeah. I guess that's true. Alright! I've decided the price."
Tomoe walked out of that pawnshop,as a multi-millionare. As thanks,he gave the 2 cops some of his money. He thanked the 2 one more time and then they split on their own ways.
Tomoe was extremely tired after this. It was already 1:00 a.m. and he felt as though he was about to pass out. He noticed a pillow-like shape in the alleyway and fell backwards on it. He then fell asleep.
