“How was your shower?” He asked as if nothing happened.
“I have to talk to you.” I said.
“What is it?”
“We can’t go on like this. This is very wrong.” I said without looking at him.
“If you want me to stop doing it, I’ll stop.” He said.
“No, that’s not what I meant.”
“What, you don’t want me to stop?”
“No. I think we better stop seeing each other.”
He fell silent.
I looked up. his face was dim, and jaws were tight.
“You can ask me anything but not this.” He said. He seemed to be so much in pain.
“I think it’s best.” I said.
He stood up.
“If that’s what you want.” He said.
…
“Where’s Grey?” My mother asked when she arrived.
“he left early.” I lied.
“why don’t you call him and invite him to dinner?” She asked.
“Why would I do that?” I asked.
“because he must be lonely inside that house.”
“Lonely? I’m sure he’s got his parents with him.”
“Dean, his parents are in New York. He’s living alone.”
I was taken aback.
Why would he live alone in this small town when he can have everything in New York?
“Call him Dean.” I overheard my mother.
I sighed. I invited him but it turned out that he’s gonna pass.
After that day, he started to become elusive. I could barely see him around the school.
During our classes, he seems to be so cold and distant. He was a complete opposite of what he was before.
Well, this is what I wanted right?
“But why do I suddenly feel that I missed him?”
“I think you know the answer Dean.” Pamela told me as she checked the decorations for tomorrow’s school festival. “Oh, look, there he is.” Pamela pointed.
I followed her gaze and saw Grey smiling. Only, it was not for me. A girl followed him inside the gymnasium.
This feeling is unbearable. “Excuse me.” I hurried towards the secluded part of the backstage.
There it was again, the most familiar feeling I detest, the feeling of having a broken heart. This time, it’s more painful. I sobbed.
“You’ve fallen again Dean.” I heard Pamela
I sighed and wiped my tears. “It seems.”
…
I tried to forget and accept things. But it’s so hard when every night, you could see him on his window playing his guitar.
I’m really out of my mind. I slapped my forehead.
I heard laughter, children’s laughter. I found myself in an old abandon house. I looked up and saw a balloon. I tried to grab it, only it’s unreachable.
“Careful, you might fall.” A boy’s voice said.
“I want the balloon.” I said. I was surprised to hear my voice so childlike.
“Let me get it for you.” The other boy said and climbed over the wall.
“yey!” I shrieked after he went down with the balloon with him.
He handed it to me. “Here’s your balloon.”
“Thanks.” I smiled at him and he was smiling too. I just can’t seem to picture out his face.
He grabbed my hand. “Let’s go.”
I nodded and we ran
I opened my eyes. “Strange dream.”
I looked at the wall clock. “Crap! I’m late.”
I’m one of the attendance committee and here I am, late.
Aaaargh!
After I took a fast shower and put on my clothes, I hastily ran towards the school.
The parade just started. “Phew!”
I headed towards our booth.
“You’re late.” Pamela said with her hands on her waist.
“Sorry.” I said.
She just laughed.
I saw Grey. He looks damn so good in that checkered polo.
It’s been months.
I miss him terribly.
“What are you looking at?” Pamela asked with a tease in her voice.
“Nah, never mind.” I said evading her.
“You’re so obvious, you know.” She said, half-laughing.
“Haha.” I replied.
