“Will you please stop your drama?” I asked Pamela, half-laughing as I saw her pouting lips and rolling eyes.
She shifted on her chair and faced toward the right side of the cafeteria and put on a snob face.
I rolled my eyes. “Fine, I’m going to tell you everything okay? So please stop sulking. You look funny.” I said in a bemused tone.
“Are you really going to tell me everything?” She asked with her super wide smile.
I laughed at her reaction.
…
“What? He kissed you as punishment?” She asked
“Ssshh. Will you please lower your voice?” We’re in the cafeteria.” I snorted.
“Oh, sorry.” She said, laughing. “But did he really do that?”
I nodded.
“OMG!” She said in a restrained scream with her hand on her forehead.
Later that day, I found myself being the subject of Grey’s eyes. And of course, Pamela is eyeing us too-discreetly.
I sagged my shoulders in exasperation and buried my face on my desk.
I heard a low, husky chuckle. There’s no doubt that Grey owned it judging from my reaction which is the heating of my ears.
Then I heard a slow dragging of chair. I wonder what he’s up to. I didn’t bother to look up.
“Do you know that exposing your ear like that makes me want to nibble it?” I just felt him whispered near my ear and I felt his warm breath against me causing for my scalp to prickle.
I lift up my head and automatically distanced myself. “What do you want me to do with it, hide it? I asked cynically.
He grinned. “Well, if you just let me, I’ll do it for you…” He moved closer. “And I’ll do it with pleasure.” He said smiling. And my heart goes haywire-Ugh!
“N-no thanks, I can manage.” I stuttered. Shoot!
He reached for my face and tucked my hair over my left ear. I blushed. I tilted my head and removed his hand.
He chuckled.
I rolled my eyes and saw our professor in Calculus went inside.
I was thankful that Grey put his chair back on its original position.
…
“What do you want?” I asked when he blocked himself in the doorway as I was about to go out.
“You.” He said a matter-of-factly with that smile of his that weakens my knees.
I looked away and tried so hard not to glance at his face. “I have no time for this nonsense Mr. Sanders.”
“You know, you’re too formal.” He said softly as he lifted my chin up. “Please call me Grey, will you?”
Suddenly I saw a sudden shift of emotion in his eyes. It’s longing.
I removed his thumb off my chin. “Okay, Grey, please let me through.” I said and I felt uneasy with the emotion in his eyes. What’s with this guy? Damn, I feel guilty with an unknown reason.
I was relieved that he stepped out of the way. “Thank you.” I muttered
I walked past him but he grabbed my right arm that made me turn towards him. He pulled me and planted a kiss on my forehead and whispered above my head “I miss you.”
I gathered myself and distanced away from him. “Are you out of your mind?” I asked in a low voice full of indignation.
He flashed a bemused smile. “I like you this way.” He said and tousled my hair.
I rolled my eyes and walk away.
I looked back and find out that he’s gone. I should have felt relieved but ironic as it may seem, I feel disappointed.
I sighed and turned back and gasped to see him in front of me, smiling “Looking for me?” He asked.
Crap!
“Will you stop following me?” I asked exasperatedly irritated with myself after being caught.
Shoot! It was humiliating!
“If that’s what you want then I will.” He said and looked at me in the eye for a moment before walking away and disappeared in the crowd of students coming out from their respective classrooms.
I walked towards the locker room and collected my things then headed towards the ‘PORT.’ Well, that’s the office for our school publication, ‘the voyager.’ And in case you are wondering, I am a feature writer.
“Oh here he comes.” Were the welcome words of Cherry, our Editor-in-chief as I entered the room. Suddenly, all eyes were on me.
“What is it?” I asked as I went on my cubicle.
“We’ve got a problem, but we already got it solved.” Bella, our Associate Editor said.
I turned back to Cherry with a questioning look.
“Well, Brandon, our resident photographer just dropped school with no notice.” Cherry said.
“What?” This is not good. I need him to cover for the Lantern Festival.” I muttered, panicking.
“But like I said, we’ve already got it solved.” Bella said and went inside the adjoining room of the office.
“Oh, so you already got a replacement.” I said in relief.
“Yes. And actually, he’s here.” Cherry said proudly.
With her expression, I knew that she’s confident with the replacement.
“Who?” I asked, curious.
Bella emerged from the adjoining room with someone behind her. Must be the replacement.
Since the adjoining room is a bit darker, I first saw the silhouette but the way my heart palpitates gave me a bad feeling.
“May I present Grey Sanders.” Bella said proudly-unfortunately.
I heard a camera click and then Grey lowered the Canon DSLR from his face and with that knee-weakening smile, he uttered, “Hi.”
Bella and Cherry giggled. I rolled my eyes at them for being so obvious.
“What?” Both of them asked.
“You’re asking me what? Of all people, why him?” asked exasperatedly.
“Well, I don’t see anything wrong with it, besides, he’s good.” Bella said.
“yeah, and we’ve got samples of his photos, he’s like a pro.” Cherry.
I turned around and face the computer.
My left brow is arching with the building anger inside me. I edited one of the feature articles while hitting the keyboard hard enough.
He’s really getting into my nerves.
“What are you so angry about?” I fidgeted as he said it behind me, just enough for me to hear him.
“I’m not angry!” I retorted, without looking away from the computer.
He chuckled. Damn, why does it have to sound so hot? Aaarghh. What’s happening with me?
“Then why are you acting this way?” HE asked, still with a bemused tone.
I turned to face him. “I don’t think there’s something wrong with the way I act.” I snorted.
‘Oh, I bet there is.’ My sub eyed me. I shut him out.
My irritation with myself raised. And that’s it, I’m not angry with Grey nor with anyone else, I’m angry with myself.
I sighed and turned off the computer. I stiffened when he cocked his head beside mine.
“I think there is something terribly wrong with you right now. And how many times do I have to tell you that I don’t want to hear you sigh? Hmm?” he asked.
My brows arched even more. Why does it have to concern him so much? Who is he anyway?
“whatever.” I muttered instead and managed to collect my things and head out.
Upon reaching the corridor, I slapped my face. And I regretted it in the end. “Ouch.”
“tsk. Tsk. You seemed to be disoriented, Dean. At times you’re angry, the second later, you’re physically hurting yourself.”
I stopped for a moment. I didn’t know that he followed me. Then I resumed walking. I didn’t even bother to look at him.
But in one swift motion, he grabbed me and pinned me on the wall.
“hey!” I protested.
“Don’t you dare hurt yourself again.” He said with a commanding voice and a warning look in his eyes.
I shut my mouth. I don’t understand why he can easily make me do what he wants me to do.
“Look what have you done to yourself.” He hissed, still scolding me as he ran the back of his hand on my left cheek that I slapped. “Dean, why are you inflicting pain on yourself?” He asked.
I looked back at him and then decided it’s not a good idea, so I looked down again. “What does it concern you?”
He placed his forehead against mine as he gently cupped my face, then he whispered “Because, you’re important to me.”
