She needed to wait. While hearing the noises of people moving supplies of “The Devil’s Enigma” out of the room, she prayed that no one would find her. Chantel had to get out here to, at least, find Darren. For now, there was nothing she could do but sit and wait. She wished there was a window in the room, so she could escape out of here. But judging the whole area was a cave, that was a fat chance.
After a while, the moving stopped, which meant they must be finished with getting everything they needed out of here.
“Alright, time to stop hiding…” Chantel decided she would take one peek out from behind the shelves to see the coast was clear and turned off her phone recording.
She peeked her head around the side to observe the area as quickly as she could. There were no people around and the door was closed with the lights still on, but who knows how long this place will stay quiet?
Chantel got up from the ground and stared at the remaining liquid bottles still here. She still felt a sense of anger on what she just discovered. No one deserves a fate like; Lance Crow and the woman, who hounded her band at the label had.
Chantel pulled out her phone to take pictures of the liquid bottles as fast she could. Then, she hurried to the door and cracked it open, continuing to exercise her caution to the exit. The coast was clear, but she heard footsteps coming near where she was. So, she decided to get out and head to the opposite direction. Chantel needed to find Darren and warn him.
All of them needed to meet with Leticia to get out of this place! Searching high and low, she tried looking for the mage, while trying not get caught herself in the midst of it. Suddenly, Chantel saw a group of people, heading to one of the exits of the venue. Curious, she walked over to one of the exits and followed the crowd outside into the alley. The crowd went into the alley, then migrated into the woods nearby.
Chantel saw bursts of colorful magic floating in the air, which she thought either meant a firework show or mage dueling. Her stomach dropped at the worst case scenario: Darren and Mark may be dueling each other! As the crowd finally stopped in the middle of the woods, she pushed rough people to get to the front of the crowd.
She heard the crowd chanting “Get him! Get him down!” and other mages making bets on who will win the fight. Not surprising she heard Mark’s name among the crowd and it was clear her suspicions were right.
When Chantel got to the front of the crowd, she was mortified when she saw Darren was on the ground in pain. The mage was wincing, holding his arm, while trying to get up to fight some more. Chantel became even more horrified when she saw the dark bluish bruises all over Darren’s face and arms. Mark just stood there with a small glowing blue and purple magic ball on his finger, smiling evilly. Noticing that look, she knew Mark was not done with his brother yet and started to aim at Darren for another shot!
Chantel decided to jump in the middle of the fight, covering the mage before Mark could attack him again. Mark stopped, then made his magic on his finger disappear. She felt herself shaking a bit in fear when she faced the older brother. However, her anger outmatched her fear, since she needed to save her best friend.
“Chantel.. No…” Darren said weakly, trying to get himself up from the ground.
“Stay there, Darren.” Chantel told Darren, then turned her attention back to Mark. “What the hell, Mark!? You're a fucking, low bastard to hurt Darren like this!”
Mark cackled when the girl screamed at him, “Stay out of this, Chantel. This is our fight. Let us handle this.” He moved closer to the two, then said, “But it’s starting to look like I’m going to win this duel...again, like always, bro. He’s stupid as fuck to think he would win, so I will keep the amulet.”
“It’s my amulet!” Darren exclaimed, slowly grabbing some bottles from his belt of pants using uninjured arm.
“You give it back, Mark! Or...” Chantel moved closer to him, feeling a bit nervous about what he was going to do to her.
She made a fighting pose, though deep down inside she was nervous to fight a Magic User like Mark.
“Or what, Delisle? The two of you are pathetic little… Ooph!” Mark felt himself trip down to the ground and howled in pain.
Chantel went for a low kick move at his knees to knock Mark down to the ground. The crowd around him laughed for being beaten so easily. She did not want to waste a single amount of her aura on the man when a simple self-defense move would do the trick. Moving back quickly, she stood in her place and observed what Mark’s next move will be. Chantel doubted her little trick would work again, since the man’s next strategy would be to use his magic on her!
She needed to get Darren and her out of this place to get him medical attention. Before Mark could get up, he was knocked once again by an unknown force to the ground, hard. Looking from the sides of the forest surroundings, Mariuem came into the mix where she ended up being the one to subdue Mark! The crowd of Magic Users screamed when they saw a vampire in the middle of the woods. They ran for their lives, out of the woods, with very few of them staying around to attempt to fight the blonde haired vampire.
Chantel watched Marieum take the remaining fighters down single handily. Once everything was clear, she focuses all her attention on Darren, who was struggling to get up from the ground. Chantel wanted to help him, but Marieum held her hand up, stopping the girl in her tracks.
“Darren has been hit by poison magic. If you touch him, this will spread to you. I can touch him as I won’t be able to feel any burning from the acid," Mariuem explained.
Checking to see if he broke any bones, Mariuem moved one of his arms, where Darren winced in pain. She nodded and commented casually, “Arm broken. You’re smart enough to carry a poison antidote on you, boy. You’re not as dumb as I thought.”
“I don’t care what is broken. I just want to get the amulet and get the fuck out of here!" Darren groaned and saw Mariuem dangling the amulet in front of his face.
“I guess you were looking for this? You can have it, if you behave nice in my medical care,” Mariuem explained.
Despite her rude attitude, at least, the vampire was helping the situation, instead of making it worse.
“Why should I trust you? For all I know, you could take my blood and make me become one of your creatures of the night. No offense, you’re kind of a stalker like all the rest of you vampires are," Darren said.
Chantel wanted to scream at Darren to at least take Mariuem’s help. This was not the time for this!
“Just because you say no offense it doesn't mean that wasn’t offensive, but I understand your views as what I do to survive is a crime against nature and life, itself. You should trust me because I could have taken your blood a long time ago, if I felt you weren’t any different from other worthless humans. However, I could still simply leave you here to die, you ungrateful, little whelp! I saved you last time, but you obviously want to need medical attention as you're willing to let Mark beat you up. Luckily for you, I am your best bet for medical attention. Now, do you want that amulet or not?” Amazingly, the vampire seemed to remain calm. She scolded the injured mage, which still made him jump in fright when she smiled smugly.
Darren sulked to himself, then eventually became very agreeable to allow Marieum to help him. Chantel pulled out her phone to see a bunch of frantic messages from Amelia. As she read the messages, The Hexes’s gigs were completed and Amelia was worried about where Leticia, Darren, and Chantel are. Chantel did want to go back to The Scarlet Caverns, but after what she saw what the Rise of Light was doing, it was not safe for either of them to go back there. Mariuem hurried the two of them out of the forest to meet up with The Hexes.
Darren limped along, behind Chantel and Marieum, with his broken arm held in place with a sturdy, wooden stick. The group was silent, until they were able to meet up with The Hexes in a parking lot nearby The Night Barista Tower. She saw Amelia and Toby, running toward them, checking Darren up and down. The rest of the Hexes looked at Darren in shock and wondered what had happened to him at the rave party. There was a raven haired vampire man, who was wearing a black and red suit.
He flicked off his black sunglasses and revealed his hot red eyes to Mariuem. His body language signaled an air of worry when the lady vampire met with him, yet Marieum bowed politely to him as was customary of vampires to do as they follow the monarchy government.
“I can see by dragging your band out here, you have got my warning.” Mariuem crossed her arms and said, “I never thought you would be this reckless, Alastor. Putting a bunch of children in danger.”
“I was short sighted about this event. I should’ve done my best research about this place before letting my clients take this gig. By the time I knew, we were stuck with it and to cancel would be a bad move on our part.” Alastor’s voice sounded elegant, which sounded pleasant in Chantel’s ears.
His mannerism reminded her of Robert a little.
“You could have just hypnotized the people to get out of it.” Marieum remarked.
“And that wouldn’t be a good image that we’re trying to rebuild for the vampires.” Alastor puts his glasses back on, then turns to Nick. “What in the heck are you thinking?! Bringing people like Darren, Chantel, and Leticia here! I thought it was agreed that you would not investigate in this Rise of Light thing further? The plan was to perform your gig and go!”
“Al, I…” Nick started to say, until Amelia swooped in between them.
“Al, don’t blame Nick! It was my fault because I begged Nick to bring them with me. All they needed was just a ride over there. We weren’t going to get involved unless it was necessary. Don’t blame Nick, blame Toby and me!” Amelia exclaimed.
Chantel heard a gulp from Toby, while he was healing some of Darren’s wounds, magically. Alastor massaged his temples to de-stress, then he paced back and forward in place. Knowing very little about vampires from Darren, it was the first time she has seen a vampire like this. Alastor stopped and pointed at The Hexes, who shook in fear at what he was going to do next. All Darren and Chantel could do was watch the conversation unfold.
“For this foolishness, Nicola will be helping The NorthEasters for a while,” Alastor’s words made Nicola jump up in disagreement.
“Why me? I had nothing to do with all this!” Nicola shouted.
“But Gabriel, Nick, and you knew all about Toby and Amelia’s plan. None of you should ever have followed through with this. Now, the NorthEasters are down on a bassist and you will help them, until Darren is nursed back to health. Consider this your punishment," Alastor explained to the five members on how to fix this situation.
Chantel felt a bit guilty that she got The Hexes in trouble. They should have never bothered with going to this rave party to begin with, but if they did not go to this, she wouldn’t have found this disgusting, evil plot that was going on around with Nico Travolo and Rise of Light. On another hand, Darren would have avoided getting hurt by his horrid, older brother. This whole thing was a mess and only saving grace is that Leticia was safe in the midst of all this. The worst part is that she learned from Marieum that Trenton and Dakota were here!
Both Darren, Leticia, and her have a lot of explaining to do. All that lecture will have to wait, until the sunrise come to start a new day.
