Many more days later, the boys have kind of kept their distance from each other; even in their bedroom. Theo would be well awake and gone by the time Tristan woke up and he’d always go to bed way before Tristan even thought about going to bed. He didn’t know why the blond was suddenly avoiding him but he thought it had something to do with his admittance to the brunet. Of course Theodore would feel somewhat awkward a few days later; he’s never had feelings for another man before and he didn’t know how to talk to Tristan without feeling slightly weird about it though Tristan was kind of confused about it as his friend was all for him then suddenly ignoring him.
Though that wasn’t the only reason Theo was waking early and leaving moments later, it was so he could practice his magic without worrying about being exposed to anyone else in the inn. So he would ride one of the horses out into the forest and concentrate on the elements around him, letting them bring out the power in him and flow from his fingertips without much trouble at all.
Today was no different besides the fact that he was coming through the big doors to find Tristan standing with his arms limp at his sides and a dark expression on his face as Justin stands in front of him, one of his hands pressed to Tristan’s chest; it was clear by the look on his face that Tristan wasn’t comfortable with what the smaller man was saying to him. Theo’s anger builds up into his throat as he storms over to the two and pulls Justin away from the brunette, proceeding to shove him away. Not realising his strength was stronger than before; the blond shifts further back than anticipated and stops when he’s flung against the table a few feet away. Theo stares the other blond down with a scowl on his face while Justin stands to his feet and glares back.
“What the hell was that?!” He yells, walking over to poke Theo is the chest.
“That was what you’ll get more of if you touch him or me again, maybe even worse.” Theo threatens, his anger spewing out of his mouth though his anger turned to shock when the other blonds hand covers in ice and he swings his fist towards Theo. Theo reacts quickly and pushes Justin away with an invisible force and as the older man stumbles back, he grabs Tristan by the hand and yanks him away from the situation.
“Come back here!” Justin shouts, Alissia and Micah running out from their room upstairs to see what’s going on when Theo pushes Tristan away just in time to miss a spear shaped icicle that was flung towards them. Theo turns with a frown and walks closer to Justin, letting his hands frost over as well; Justin looks down at his hands in surprise. “How can you weld ice magic and air magic?”
“Because I can control all elements, you don’t want to go up against me.” Theo answers with a smirk when Justin’s eyebrows rise in shock.
“You can’t be him, I had my suspicions but I didn’t think you were real,” the older blond states and Theo tilts his head in confusion.
“Tell me what you mean.” Theo demands in a stiff tone.
“Back in our town, our parents told us of a young boy who would potentially need our help when the time came. He would be able to wield more power than any other sorcerer and he’d have eyes like melted gold with hair like snow in the middle of winter. As soon as I saw you, I had my suspicions but I didn’t really believe it.” Justin tells the younger blond, making Theo’s eyebrows shoot upwards. By now, Julia had appeared from out the back to come stand with her brother to face Theodore and in seconds her hands are engulfed in flames while her twin brother’s is covered in ice.
“We are the only other people who were born with powers like yours, we can help you,” she tells him.
“And what would you want in return for that help?” Theo asks suspiciously as he narrows his eyes at the woman.
“Well, Theo, we wanted you,” she says and he shakes his head.
“I’m spoken for; I have always been spoken for.” Theo states not sparing the brunette a glance though he could feel the taller boy staring at him.
“Then we will settle with having a home wherever you end up, that way we can help whenever you need us.” Justin responds and Theo thinks about it for a moment, letting his magic fall away effortlessly while the twins do the same.
“I’ll agree to those terms.” Theo speaks softly, turning to finally meet the green eyes of his prince. “For now, we are staying here until we gather enough strength to fight who is hunting us.”
“I apologise for not understanding but why are people hunting you?” Julia asks curiously and Theo turns back to her once he’s standing beside Tristan.
“We’re being hunted by people who wish to kill the prince.” Theo answers and the twins look at each other with frowns before fixing their looks onto Theodore and Tristan.
Though when their eyes land on the taller brunet, his shoulders are held high and look broader than before, his spine completely straight to his full height.
“We never heard of anything to do with the prince, Theodore. We were prophesied to help you with whatever you are to face.” Julia states and Theo huffs.
“My prophecy was to protect and bring the prince back to his throne after the slaughter of our families,” he responds yet they still look completely confused so he sighs and runs a hand through his hair before fixing them with a cold glare.
“My name is Theodore Ashwood and I am the next Captain of the Guard to the army of the next King; Tristan Woodlyn, heir to the throne,” the blond gestures to his tall brunet friend and both the twins faces contorted into complete and utter shock.
“What?!”
