“What happened in that room?”
“You felt the presence of Wrath. I can’t tell for certain if it was the Satan himself or one of his lackeys.”
“Satan?”
I sighed, looked over at my brothers and briefly contemplated banging my head against the desk. Why couldn’t they do research? I hated explaining everything.
“What do you know about Angels and Demons?” The question pointed at both shifters in front of me.
“I’ll admit, I don’t know a lot myself other than there are 7 Archangels.” Wyatt’s abashed confession was quiet.
“Like Wyatt said, not a lot. Angels kill demons.” Alexander leant back in his chair, a dare in his eyes to impress him.
“That’s where you are wrong.”
I hated how everyone assumed that was all we are good for. Leaning back in my chair, I looked up at the ceiling.
Clay, tell Hawk to make a note that we need better PR, I’m getting tired of this shit.
A chuckle sounded from next to me, drawing the attentions of the two shifters. An imperious brow rose as Alexander stared at us.
“Why do I feel like I’m missing something here.”
“Because you are.”
Glares were sent towards Hawk. Feeling protective of my brother, I rapped my knuckles on the desk to get their attention back on me.
“Oi, I’m giving lesson time now so pay attention. I’ll only say this once.”
Sharing amused glances, they relaxed back in their chairs and waited for me to continue. Deciding to start from the beginning, I settled in for what was going to be a long story time.
“There are 7 Archangels in the world, each with their own Pillar. The Archangels lead the Pillars to maintain balance in the world. Each Pillar and Archangel have become associated with a certain colour and power. Non-archangelic angels are born with white wings instead of gold and primary feathers that are coloured to match the one Archangel whose powers they share.”
“Powers?”
“One?”
I shot a glare at Alexander and Wyatt.
“I’m getting there. Archangel Michael is the head of the Protection Pillar and his wings have blue primary feathers. The powers that Protection Pillar angels gain is the ability to produce angelfire and shape it into whatever we wish.”
“Like before, in the gallery room?” I could see the curiosity in Alexander’s eyes.
“Yes. Let her finish.” For once, that cold tone wasn’t Hawk’s. It was Flint’s.
Clay, check on Flint. It’s not like him to be like this.
Will do. After a pause, he continued. He’s just on edge because we’re surrounded by shifters. Hell, that's why Hawk and I aren't particularly happy either.
I spared a quick smile for Flint to reassure him before turning back to the shifters in front of me.
“Right. Anyway. Archangel Uriel leads the Peace Pillar, has red primary feathers and the power we share with him is the ability to sense and, if powerful enough, alter emotions of those around us. The Healing Pillar is led by Archangel Raphael. Raphael has green primary feathers and the ability is what it says on the tin, the angels can heal albeit only physical wounds.”
I paused for a moment to check that they were still following. I knew from previous experience that it could be a lot to take in. When there were no questions, I continued.
“Archangel Gabrielle is in charge of the Communications Pillar and her wings have grey primary feathers. Their ability is tied into a form of telepathy. They can send and receive mental messages, their range changes depending on the angel’s personal power level. Archangel Jophiel has yellow primary feathers and she’s in charge of the Wisdom Pillar. Wisdom angels have incredible memories and high IQ’s allowing them to essentially be a walking talking library. The last two are unique, they work in tandem with each other. The Love Pillar is lead by Archangel Chamuel and his wings carry pink primary feathers. The Love Pillar’s abilities allow them to form connections between people and it allows them to see into the heart’s of those around them. Lastly is the Archangel Zadkiel, his primaries are purple. He runs the Freedom Pillar and they have the rather benevolent ability to free a person’s hidden or subconscious memories or thoughts by encouraging them to let go from the material.”
I paused once more. Glancing at both Wyatt and Alexander, I waited to see if they had any questions.
“How come you’ve got two colours on your wings? You said non-archangelic angels only have one?” Wyatt’s voice was soft to which I sighed.
“To be honest, we don’t know.” Although we had a good idea about the why. I shrugged and looked over at Hawk.
“We are the only angels in our entire recorded history to have powers from two different Pillars. Different theories surround why, from mere abominations that shouldn’t exist to whether we were required to uphold the balance.”
“What about this Wrath? The one targeting my people.”
“Satan.”
“What?”
“If you’re talking about the Demon Lord himself, he prefers Satan.”
I sat back and waited while that sentence stuck in. I could have a bit of fun whilst I was here.
“Prefers?” Alexander’s tone was full of deadly menace.
“Yes. Prefers. You ready for the second part of your lesson today?”
