It was warm. As though a blanket was enveloping him completely. It also seemed that he was falling. Falling backwards. There were some distant screaming that was getting louder and louder. Before he knew it,he was falling into a disposal pit and was about to fall into the trash chute.
Otome was passing by so he pulled Tomoe out quickly and saved him. "...You...okay?" asked Otome still panting.
"I'm fine. Thank you. Aren't you...Ryusei Otome from Class S?"
"Yeah...Wait,aren't you our teacher?" Otome finally got his composure and the 2 walked to school together. "What were you doing sleeping next to a disposal pit?"
"I was very tired last night and thought those were pillows." Otome was ecstatic that his teacher thought trash bags were pillows. "But what are those things? Are they not a hazard?"
"Well, when they were first made they were, but they were created in a way that humans can't fall down it no matter what angle they came from. You'd just be stuck. And if you were found stuck, you could be jailed."
"They took a lot of precautions for safety, didn't they?"
"Well,a lot of the current technology is way more dangerous than say,300 years ago so the laws had to change to make sure people were safe."
"You are quite interested in these type of things aren't you?"
"Well,my dad's a construction manager so I was taught about these things since young."
"I see...what about your mother?"
"She's an indie programmer."
"Indie?"
"That means that she isn't connected to some big company. She has her own group that she makes a bunch of different things. Most times,it's just test programs to help other companies. Like for robots."
"I thought robots were cancelled a while ago?"
"After what happened in Shibuya, everyone decided not to put all their money into robots but we're still testing them. Just at a slower pace than before."
"Are these things related to why you passed by me?"
"Hm? What do you mean?"
"Your house is near to the school,is it not? Doesn't make a lot of sense for you to walk away from the school."
"Ah. I didn't think you'd notice. All games have gone digital so if you want a hard copy, you'd have to specially order it and it'd be very expensive. Though, that was so long ago and no one buys any of it so old hard copies got more expensive, while hard copies of newer games got cheaper. One of the few shops who still buy and sell hard copies is near the airport so I have to walk quite the way."
"Heh."
"What's wrong?"
"Both today and yesterday...I really learned that you can learn a lot about a person just from talking to them for a short while."
"..." It took Otome a while to process what Tomoe said. "OH!" He realized. "I-I'm sorry. I tend to go off when people talk about certain things I like..."
"'go off' isn't the right word. Heard of 'rabbit on'? It's perfect for you."
"Never heard of it,don't think anyone has used it in the past century."
"Even back then, next to no one used it. It isn't a very popular phrase." They arrived at the school gate. "I have to go to the office. I think it's on the 4th floor? And...you have to go to your class, right?"
"Um,yeah."
"Then, tell the class that I won't appear for first period but,I will for the last. And take this as a lesson with you,to 'rabbit on' means to talk about something for so long that people get bored. Although,I have a very long attention span so feel free to talk about these things as much as you'd like, okay?"
"Al-alright!"
"So,I heard you didn't go to the apartment I got for you yesterday." said the Headmaster as Tomoe walked into the room.
"I was busy getting my own money and it happened that an alleyway was the most comfortable bed for me after I finished."
"Heh. Make sure to actually use the home I got for you, alright? I'm paying a lot for it. Got a special room."
"Did Tetsu not tell you? I can sleep basically anywhere as it's relatively clean."
"He did."
"Then why?"
"Treat it as a welcome gift from your new boss."
"I see...It's there to feed your ego."
"Oi. By the way,I reserved it for you and payed rent for the 1st month but for the other 11 or so months you're staying here, you're payin' rent. Though,I wouldn't mind paying a bit of it for you if you were to do some chores for me."
"I'm already eradicating Rign, what more do you want me to do?"
"I want you to clean them out faster. You can see them, right?"
"Not all of them are evil."
"Most of them are. And I'd destroy an innocent man if that means 4 evil ones are destroyed too."
"Our views really differ, huh?" Tomoe opened the window to the Headmaster's left and saw a tall man trying to break into a room on the ground floor.
"Not like it matters. It's pretty easy to..." Tomoe jumped out of the window. He jumped so extremely far that Class 4-A -which was several rooms away-,could see him falling. It happened so fast that no one could get a proper look but, some people noticed. Noticed that Tomoe did an overhead stab using his scythe while in the air. "...differentiate the good ones and the bad ones." It was as if there was a wind current under him helping to break his fall.
"Pfft. He calls me egotistical and yet he shows off his amazing strength." After that,Tomoe ran to the field and took out a gigantic Rign. None of the students were able to see it because Tomoe made sure it was away from view.
It was last period and Tomoe entered the classroom. "Good afternoon class. Let's get straight to the point today since there's a lot I need to talk to you about." The entire class was confused but just stayed silent. Hans wanted to say something but he didn't bother.
"I'm pretty sure a few of you saw me leap from the Headmaster's office. I did that to quickly eliminate a Rign."
"Rin?" asked Shuichiro.
"Spelled R-I-G-N. What did Jason call them...Ummm,oh demons." Most of them bursted out laughing. Some thought he was joking, others thought he went insane. "...Did I ask you to believe me?" The class went silent again. "It's your choice to believe me or not. I want you all to know the truth of why I made this class. So be sure to listen,'cause I'm tired and am not gonna repeat it again."
