I waited roughly twenty minutes before Cam decided to show up, and we started walking down a path through the woods. That would lead us to a gas station on the other end of town, where we would stock up on supplies before we began our journey. We walked down the brightly lit, calm, but deadly silent pathway. A slight breeze blew our hair around our faces and rustled the leaves in the trees before settling down again.
"So... this morning something strange happened..." Cam said quietly.
"What is it?" I asked politely.
"I sort of, maybe, kinda turned into a wolf in front of my parents ... you don't have to believe me. I just thought I should tell you," she said with a slight quiver in her voice.
"You're not the only one, don't worry just... for me, it didn't happen in front of my parents" I laughed nervously. More wind blew, leaves danced and twirled all around us, a beautiful display, calming almost as if the forest were trying to comfort us after what happened.
"Oh... thought I was going a little crazy, to be honest." Cam continued speaking. "you don't think it might have something to do with that wolf biting us... do you?" she asked shyly.
"I think it has everything to do with it and more," I said sternly.
"What do you mean by that?" she asked confusion in her voice.
I didn't respond, lost in thought we kept walking, listening to the relaxing sounds and calmness coming from the life all around us. The birds singing, the leaves rustling and dancing in the breeze, Some twirling down to our feet, the distant sound of trickling water, and the warmth of the sun on our faces. As we continued to our destination...
To be continued.
