Adonael was snapped out of his gaze by Ken. He jumped a bit, realizing he had stayed quiet, staring out the window instead of doing his work. He turned his head to Ken, who was tapping his foot impatiently, "Sir...Please finish your work. I would appreciate it if we made it home today."
'Sir.' Ken had called him 'Sir.' How oddly erotic for him. Adonael cleared his throat, "Yes. Right, sorry." He said as he readjusted himself, while Ken nodded with a 'humph.' Ken turned to stare at Adonael's calendar with his back turned away from Adonael. Adonael couldn't help but stare at his focused face. Adonael smirked instead, "Hehe...You're adorable, you know." He said, resting his chin on his hand. Ken rolled his eyes but blushed anyway, "Adonael, Please don't flirt with me at work." He said slowly.
Adonael pouted. "You're no fun!" He whined. Ken glanced at him and shook his head. "Alright! Fine." He snapped as he walked over to the chair Adonael used to talk to his clients. Ken brought the chair over to Adonael's desk near him and sat. Ken frowned, "Please do your work." Adonael stared at him, sort of in shock. But he also felt a smile rise to his face. "I'll keep working if I can always sit next to you..." He said, a sweet smile on his face. Ken always thought that look was dumb, but...Of course, he liked it. Ken sighed but looked at his notepad in embarrassment, "Right..." He said softly. Adonael was feeling much more motivated than before.
As Ken and Adonael began walking out of the building, Ciarda quickly caught up. She smiled at Ken, "Hey Ken!" She said, smiling brightly. As she turned to Adonael, she frowned slightly, "And Adonael. Evening. Anyway! Ken, why don't you go out and get some drinks? Domencio, me, and my wife, Lilith, were planning on going to a bar in hell. Why don't you join us?" She said quickly. Adonael looked utterly uninterested in Ciarda's proposition, but it wasn't like she had invited him anyway. Ken smiled a bit, "No, I'm alright. Adonael said he would walk me home!" He said, looking up at Adonael. Ciarda raised an eyebrow at that. "I see..." She said softly. Domencio called for Ken from far away, waving at him frantically. Ken smiled widely and waved. During their small intersection, Adonael had turned to Ciarda and gave a shit-eating smirk. Ciarda was very surprised and highly offended. She glared at him. They both stopped their little stare-off when Ken looked back at them.
Adonael pat Ken's back, "We should hurry and get you home." He said slowly and darkly. Ken nodded. "Right. Bye, you two!" He said happily. He began walking with Adonael toward their home in the mortal realm. Adonael stared at Ken the whole way through.
Every night when they would make it home, Ken would get dressed in his pajamas as soon as possible. Adonael would always head straight to the kitchen to make Ken dinner. Every time Ken would try to stop Adonael, he would insist that he would do it instead. That Ken had worked too hard every day, he needed a break. When Ken had made it downstairs, he smiled right at Adonael. Ken walked toward him, "Adonael...Thank you. For everything. For getting me up in the morning, for making food for me...For being annoying." He said softly.
Adonael looked down at Ken and smiled at him. "I'm glad for doing these things for you." He said. Ken started to feel guilty. He was letting Adonael do everything for him, AND Adonael had been very helpful with Michael's murder case. He looked down, frowning, "I don't think...I think...Did I get the better end of the deal? You're doing everything for me, and I...I feel so bad. You won't let me do anything back for you, and I just.."
"Shhhh..." Adonael said slowly. Ken looked back at him, his face expressing so much remorse and guilt. Adonael smiled at him, "You are cute..." he said, putting a hand on his cheek. Ken was a little surprised; Adonael's hand was warm and comforting. He found himself almost curling his cheek into the hand. "You think you got the better end of the deal?" He said slowly. Adonael was looking very profoundly into Ken's eyes, and Ken was staring just as intensely back. Ken nodded, "I think I did.." He said. Adonael smirked slightly, "You're very wrong, you know. I know I did." He said. Ken's blush could not be any redder than it was right then. Adonael leaned in very close to Ken's face. Ken had closed his eyes to brace himself for...well, he didn't know what for, but he braced himself.
Adonael let him go and smiled, "So. What do you want for dinner?" He said quickly. Ken quickly opened his eyes and looked at the stove, "Oh! Um! It doesn't matter! I'll be over here now!" Adonael nodded and turned back to cutting some green onion. He figured he'd make something with those. Ken walked out of the room to think more about Michael's murder. And also, maybe crawl in a hole, under a rock, and perish there.
Adonal heard the quick footsteps leave the kitchen. He smiled slowly to himself. Adonael had Ken right where he wanted him. This was going very fast too. It had only been a week, and he already had him in his clutches. Adonael cut the green onions a little harshly now. All he had to do now was to catch the man who killed Michael. He was suspicious that someone had been watching them closely these last few days. Adonael's eyes flashed red, and he had turned into an all-white figure that had quickly vanished from the kitchen window. Adonael held the knife up and stabbed the cutting board with it.
Whatever that white figure was, they would pay for what they had done. Adonael would make sure of it. However, he did have a bad feeling. Something terrible was going to happen.
