Scorching hot flames were felt against Scarlet's skin. She wakes up from the heat and finds herself in the middle of a battlefield.
<Where am I?>
Her soul felt heavy and her body was covered in injuries. A sudden rush of piercing pain rams into her head. Scarlet had to place her hand on the ground to stable herself.
<This place is... Ancient China?! ...And this isn't my body... The owner of this body has the same name as me but, her last name is different... Scarlet Ashegrey... I see, she was the daughter of a great general who died in battle. Her uncle took over the Ashegrey Household and treated her like trash. She wanted to up hold her father's name and went into battle with her weak cultivation skills...>
As Scarlet was scanning through the memories of the owner's body, an enemy came up behind her. She ignores the enemy with a single thrust of the spear into the enemy's face. Scarlet stands up from the battlefield after looking through the owner's memories.
<It seems that my skills and cultivation has been transferred over... But why am I in this body? One that is so similar to my own...>
The more she thought about it, the more headaches she had. She shook her head and headed back to her camp. Many of the soldiers there greeted her back. She was the general of the camp and because of her father's well-known name, many respected her. Except, they were also talking behind her back as well. No one wanted to accept a female general who got through the ranks thanks to her father. However, this was no longer the general's daughter, this was an infamous criminal who had traveled back in time.
Scarlet enters her tent and sets her sword to the side. She covers her face in disbelief. When Andy risked his life to send her back, she did not expect him to send her back to Ancient China. It didn't make sense at all. Moreover, she was in another person's body whose body now has the complete transfer of her skills from the future. Everything was so out of whack, Scarlet gave up thinking about it. It wasn't her forte to make unlogic things logical.
Suddenly, someone burst into her tent. It was a man of fine feature. His dirty blond hair was pulled back into a ponytail and crystal green eyes complimented them greatly. He rushes over to her side and hugs her.
"Thank God you are alright!" the man shivers out.
Scarlet was startled at first until she remembered the owner's memories. This man before her was the owner's body sworn brother in battle. His name was Ridrick Dawstorm. He and the owner's body had a family relationship but could only see each on the battlefield. The reason for this was because he was a well known general like the owner's body father. However, his position was to guard the borders. Therefore, he rarely has the time to come visit her, and only when she comes to the border could they meet.
Scarlet patted his back ,"I said I'll come back..."
He pulls back, "You did. But you could have died! The Huns are not one to be truffled with. You took 5,000 troops with you, but only you managed to return."
In truth, the owner of this body could have returned with all of her 5,000 troops, but she was set up. On their way back from driving off the invader, they were ambushed by an unknown force who wiped them all out. It was there that the owner of this body died.
"We were ambushed on our way back," said Scarlet.
"What?!" said Ridrick in shock, "By who?! I'll make them regret hurting my sworn sister!"
Scarlet smiles at him and shakes her head. There was nothing they could do when they didn't know who it was that attacked her. Ridrick told Scarlet that he would have it investigated, but she told him not to worry about it. Just as he was about to argue back, one of the soldiers called out to him.
"Lord General Dawstorm, all of the captains have gathered at your camp and await for you to start the meeting."
Ridrick clicks his tongue at the soldiers. He wanted to spend more time with his sworn sister. Because of the war, they didn't have much time to talk, and after the war is over there will be even less time for them to get together and hang out. He wanted to use up as much time as he could to spend it with her. Scarlet pat his hand, "Go. Don't keep them waiting."
He stares at her for a bit before hugging her tightly again.
"Don't run off like that again, you hear?"
Scarlet nods. As soon as he left the tent, Scarlet gave out a heavy sigh.
"He seems like a good person but... The owner of this body is too chummy and nice... How long can I keep up with this act?"
Not even a second later, another man came in. Maybe because Ridrick came before that this man doesn't seem as good looking as him. He had dark brown hair and deep brown eyes like hazel. As soon as he came in, he looked at Scarlet from head to toe and then cleared his throat.
"Why didn't you just tell Lord Ridrick that you're fine? Geez," said the man in an irritating tone.
One of Scarlet's eyebrows raises up. This man standing before her was the fiance of the owner of this body. His name was Ian Polarmis. They were childhood sweethearts, but he suddenly changed his attitude towards her out of nowhere. He even wanted to annul the engagement they had. It broke the owner's heart as she was in love with him. Scarlet could care less about him, but after seeing the memories of the owner's body, she wanted to beat the crap out of this man. Moreover, he was the one that planned the ambush. Or so, the owner of this body concluded.
Scarlet looks at him with dead eyes. Unlike Ridrick, who was a good person, this person before her was just trash. She doesn't need to put up an act before him.
"If that's all you're here to say then leave," said Scarlet in a cold voice, "I don't have time to amuse you."
Ian narrows his eyes at her, "Excuse me?"
"Leave," Scarlet spoke out a bit louder, "I am exhausted and don't have time to spare with you."
"How dare you speak to me like that," he holler out, "As soon as we return, I am breaking off my engagement with you."
"Alright. Thank you for doing so," Scarlet replied with a yawn, "Now leave before I have you thrown out."
Irritated by her words, Ian storms out of her tent. Finally, some quiet and peace. Truth to be told, her eyes were closing on her. The toll of traveling back in time was like a jet lag. Plus, she needed the rest mentally as well. She just lost someone who was more important than her own life died before her very eyes. She didn't have time to grieve for him because of the sudden atmosphere change.
Seconds later, Scarlet fell sound asleep. A small voice in the corner of her ear voices out, "Please... Please listen to my dying wishes..."
