Apocalypse

Part One: Rebellion

Part One: Rebellion

Dec 23, 2020

ALL THE STANDARD WARNINGS (please read):

I'm writing this book as a challenge where I make an entire story out of only battle scenes... THERE IS AN ACTUAL STORYLINE, I SWEAR.

This is a collection of battle scenes, so there's going to be graphic violence. Don't read it if you're not comfortable with blood, torture, death, and such. Most of the beginning scenes aren't actually that bad (unless it's Jake), but keep this in mind for later on. There won't be any sexual themes or stuff like that.

The first five-ish chapters read more like a series of one-shots, since they all introduce different characters, but I promise they’ll connect and form an actual story. I’m just trying to reduce the number of random encounters and filler fights, since they aren’t nearly as interesting as seeing two or more of the characters fight each other.

There are LGBT+ characters — namely a nonbinary main character and a genderfluid side character — but there aren’t any LGBT+ romances. In fact, seeing as it’s a fight scene book, there aren’t any romances (...probably). In addition, this takes place in a world where discrimination on the basis of race, gender, sexuality, etcetera just aren’t a thing. I’m not trying to imply that these problems don’t exist, or that they shouldn’t be tackled in literature, but there’s enough drama in this world already and I like to write it as a bit of an escape from all that.

If you see glaring similarities to another story, please tell me. Everything is original and belongs to me. Don't plagiarize this anywhere, by any means (except for small quotes and stuff, you know the drill) or I will send an army of evil characters after you. And trust me, you don't want to meet some of the characters in this book.

Keep arms, hands, feet, legs and elbows inside the vehicle at all times, take small children by the hand, keep your safety belt fastened, no smoking, do not copy each others' paperwork, stow carry on items underneath the seat in front of you, keep tray tables in the upright and locked position, no flash photography, I am not responsible for loss of personal items, enter at your own risk, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

Constructive criticism is always appreciated!! (Especially for something weird like this.) Let me know (nicely) if it's terrible, or hopefully, let me know if you like it. I'm not particularly sensitive as long as you're not trying to be a jerk, so don't be afraid to give me feedback.

With all that said, I hope you enjoy Apocalypse!

[This is a re-upload, since I changed a bunch of things from the original, including the order of a lot of chapters, and I decided it was easier to just make a new story than it was to try to fix it all in the old one.]

*A story written out of only fight scenes. It will update every Wednesday and Saturday until I run out of chapters, at which time it’ll update more or less as I write.*

Since somewhere close to the beginning of time, the universe has been governed by ancient powers, dragons and gods. But since the first Falcondar king imprisoned the eldest dragon a thousand years ago, humanity has crept closer to a position of power they may not be ready to take.

Jake and Kessiel were children of the gods, on the run from catastrophic family disputes.

Esfali and Kallista were trained to be powerful warriors by an underground organization, intent on overthrowing the oppressive Falcondar royals who have abused their power.

Cassidia was a privileged Falcondar princess who never had to fear anything from within sheltered walls.

Takaren and Kiridan were the first Guardians born in a hundred years, harnessing the power of the dying dragons to bring their will on the world.

But everything everyone knew burned down when Falcondar decided to expand their borders, taking one step too far. Now, no one knows where they are or who to trust. People with too much power threaten to tilt the stage into a reality that's never been explored. The struggle for control between two empires may leave an opportunity open, something those who seek power will be eager to exploit. With tensions rising and loyalties being tested, for many it is a struggle to merely survive.

****

This is a re-upload because I made a lot of changes to Part One of this book, including reordering chapters, which Tapas won't do as far as I've found. I decided I made enough changes that it was worth it just to make a new book rather than trying to clean it all up in the old one. Not a lot of people have read the old one, so I might just delete it entirely.
