It didn't take long for Lukas and Mel to arrive at the store. She headed towards a back area with dimmer lights and more strange items. She went around picking what she needed. "Saul... hey Saul! You have any blood moss?" A gremlin looked at her and nodded.
"Just a min... that time of year huh? Seems early... you warn your boy yet?"
"He's.... my ex now." Saul paused and looked to her.
“You kill him yet?"
"No."
"Ain't healthy for ya. Look, I can get ya a nice lamb, nah he smelled more like a goat... I'll get ya a nice goat. Help break the mate cycle when ya kill it."
"It's fine. I'm sure."
"Yer endin' this early. It ain't fine. You, demon. She summon you? Make sure she kills a goat or something. She'll get sick."
"I don't like killing things..."
"That's the elf in ya talkin'. You need to get out of the cycle or yer gonna kill yourself trying to take care of him anyway and not being able to."
Lukas seems to be trying to calculate something. "Does it have to be a living creature or do you think she could get away with destroying something similar to the filth's scent...?"
"Eh she's part... might be enough. I'd feel better if it was a goat." Mel looked to Lukas.
"What were you thinking?"
"Elf side doesn't like killing, doesn't have any problem with destroying, though. So we just need to get something that smells like him for you to destroy... Worst case, I make something smell like him for you to destroy. Don't want you killing yourself, especially for sake of him. If you die, I have to go back and idiot wizard can't summon me even if he wanted to... which he obviously never would."
"Right... well... I guess that'd be ok. But where would we get some things that smell like him?"
Gremlin smiled. "Ohhh we can find a way. Can't we demon? I can help lower the price from him."
"Alright but I wouldn't kill myself caring for him."
"Mmm and how many of the freeloaders bills are you paying?" Saul gave her a pointed look.
"..." She started grabbing some other things nearby.
"He stop by her shop while she away. Dropped off all his bills and threatened business if they not paid. Idiot not like us, couldn't even tell I'm demon and said I would leave soon because Songbird is mutt... He leave because of it, but demons don't care about something so small. I give him enough warning, but too stupid to do anything about it..."
"Because he knows until she breaks it she'll attack anyone that tries to harm him. But don't worry. We can help her sort through this."
"Would not have had that confidence if had enough brain to realize I'm demon.... harder to injure so being attacked not hurt me. Plus, I gave him out... If he not take, it's own fault if he gets hurt.... I not harm him, he does to himself by not taking ways out. He do right thing and he won't be hurt. Hope he doesn't, but his choice..."
The gremlin nodded. "Name the price with my help, and we can meet this evening to get it sorted for her."
"Dinner. I want to try a new food, but I'm not picky on what."
“Pick up some of the things to make your favorite! He wants to try a new thing.” She looked over and started getting some interesting ingredients.
“Ma used to make this for me...”
The gremlin smiled. “You will like it, elven mixed with goblin. Very tasty.”
Lukas smiles back, a mix of excited and sweet. "I'm sure I will. It sounds good."
It didn't take long to set everything up. The gremlin knew where the guy was and when he'd leave the house. Which meant Lukas could slip inside without being noticed. The house looked a bit messy and was missing anything that had fabric for a lot of things. He had obviously picked new sheets and the like as well.
"Fucking sewer rat...." Lukas pulls a round bottle out of his bag as he walks around trying to find things with the highest concentration of the scent he's here for. Cloth obviously would hold the most, but there wasn't much of it that wasn't new.... Well, just means he'll have to work harder for it.
Lukas pauses as he passes one door. It isn't due to a scent. The emotions embedded in that room shine bright... not his, there is none of his, but hers. There is an excitement, a joy for what the future may hold. He can guess what she had planned for that room to be used for... He doesn't want that jerk defiling the room any more than he probably already had. Lukas tries to think of something he can do about it.... It was a bit of a loophole, but... That might work... He never got paid for passing on the paperwork and message. He takes a few seconds from his task to take payment in the form of the jerk's access to the room. The sewer rat will never be able to step foot in it again.
The demon goes back to his search. He lucks out in finding a hamper of unwashed laundry. Removing the scent from it and condensing it in liquid form, Lukas is able to fill the bottle halfway just from that. He finds a few more sources and slowly fills the bottle the rest of the way. It should be more than enough taking into account even a few drops would make something smell just like the original source.
Once he was out, the gremlin took the bottle from him. "I'll make the dummy with this. How was it? Any problems?"
"Took longer than would have liked since all the new cloth means less deep embedded scents to harvest. Still pretty strong so don't use all of it. Save some for if she needs more later..."
He nodded. "Don't worry. I'll be careful. But you.... you be careful yourself. You are getting very close to your summoner." He went off to make the dummy. He delivered it while she was out, it looked enough like Cain that it had an uncanny valley feeling to it. It was put in the backyard and when she got home she stood out front, hesitating. She was fairly conflicted. Did she want to destroy him... did she still have hope... what was best... she was so sure... but he didn't want her...
