November 26th-
I feel roughly the size of a small whale, though I can still barely fit into my favorite pair of jeans. After the announcement to my family, my mother and sisters were taking turns calling me once every hour, on the hour, with tips on handling pregnancies. Sam had insisted that we write down all their advice in a little book.
I am afraid they’d have a lot more advice if Sam hadn’t pulled the “couldn’t get away for Thanksgiving” card. The pack didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but even if they did, there was like seven other pregnant women in the pack, so I wasn’t really the unicorn.
November 27th-
“What are you doing?” Sam asked, looking over my shoulder at the blank word document on the screen.
“Trying to write a book.” I had been staring at the same screen for hours, but nothing was coming to me. One of the conditions of the Nana’s will was that I needed to show Barnaby something when I met with him in April. At least, I was up to date on the journal thing.
December 1st-
It snowed today. While the snow was pretty to look at, it made the hike from the cottage to the pack house rather difficult. Sam threw a fit when I slipped in the snow-covered mud and landed on my bum. After that one of the guards, usually Dan or Jenny, were assigned to carry me between out buildings or between the cottage and pack house so I didn’t fall.
Today was successful in the fact that I nailed Sam in the back of the head with a snowball. It probably will never happen again, but I am relishing it while I can.
December 28th-
Bored. I am so (with eleven o’s) bored. A blizzard has rocked our little valley and my over-protective hubby has stranded me alone in our cottage in the woods. Doesn’t he know that this is how like 97% of horror movies start? I can see it now… Scene opens on a woman alone in the woods. The kicker – she’s three months pregnant. I digress. I’m just feeling really dramatic today. It’s fine.
Sam hasn’t stranded me alone in the woods. Whenever I complain about being stranded, he just reminds me that he’s better prepared for the snow than I am. I guess having a fur coat does have its advantages…
