Two years has passed and in that time the boys had grown slightly closer but not by much, though they now shared a bedroom; they couldn’t stand not being together almost all day, every day. Within the two years, they had met many sorcerers and soldiers who wanted to help them take back their home, especially when a lot of the soldiers had been guards from the mansion they had been chased from. The sorcerer’s power ranged from fire magic to ice magic and everything in between, and with Theodore helping them use their powers, they grew stronger; and so did the blond.
His flames were hotter and brighter, causing a lot of people to stand back when he brought it to life in his hands though he knew he could be stronger both physically and with his magic.
He had kept to his word from that day two years ago and trained everyone in the way he had been trained, swords clanging together every day for hours on end until the person he was training could disarm him. Of course he knew it would take a lot of mental ability to end someone else’s life but he had faith that they could do it.
It was bright and sunny today so Theodore was with a group of the soldiers to train harder than he had in a long time, pushing his body harder than he ever did meaning his shirtless torso was drenched with sweat as he fought them all off when they attacked at once. He didn’t use his magic to fight them, only the sword and his hands if his sword was knocked from his grip and he knew the soldiers were holding back a little as he took the brunt of an attack to his forearm, the blade slicing into the skin slightly bringing blood to run down his arm.
“I told you, don’t hold back! They surely wont.” He shouted, not paying attention to the sound of the door that lead into the kitchen open as he knew it wasn’t Tristan who had walked through. He would’ve sensed if the prince was approaching him. They couldn’t explain why but they could now sense where the other was or when they were approaching and after a certain amount of time, depending on the day and situation, they would feel an overwhelming urge to be with the other. It had been a few hours since he’d seen the brunet but he wasn’t fussed about it and he knew he’d see him soon, when he got out of bed.
“Theodore, you don’t need to push these men so hard.” The voice of Micah states, crossing his arms as he watches the blonde attack two soldiers at once with his bare hands as he had lost the sword long ago.
“If I don’t push them hard, they won’t be ready.” Theodore grunts at the kick sent to his gut but sends the man who kicked him flying as he grabs him and tosses him to the right. Micah watched on in fascination at Theodore’s strength and perseverance with fighting; he was amazed that at the young age of twenty two he was still as fired about taking back their home than he was two years before. Though he could see the boy had grown into a strong young man, his hair still hung to his shoulders in messy waves though it was tied back as he fought and he had actually heightened a little bit so he was now the same height as Micah, which wasn’t much taller than he had been but he’d still grown. He was still a lot smaller than the prince who had just now decided to get out of bed after laying staring at the roof for thirty minutes and as if he sensed it, Theodore paused in an attack before crossing his arms making everyone stop moving, the action meaning he was done training for now and was their signal they could go home. They thanked him for the session and left quickly, not wanting him to change his mind like he had done multiple times before. The blond watched as the red head walked over to him and stood with his arms still crossed, knowing Theodore was waiting for the brunet to make an appearance.
“It’s still so strange how you just know he’s coming.” Micah says connecting eye contact with Theodore, whose golden eyes still shine so bright every day though they somehow get brighter when the prince gets closer.
“Maybe it has something to do with the prophecy.” Theodore shrugs, his eyes going back to the door when it opens and Tristan steps out of the house with Alissia beside him. It still took the smaller males breath away when Tristan came into his line of sight unaware of the stares that were thrown at the future captain when people realised he was staring at the brunette. Obviously the prince and the woman were in deep conversation but they were very aware of the younger male’s attention.
Tristan still didn’t let his hair grow like Theodore did, having it cut short made him feel and look a little more like a future king than long hair did but it was just as fluffy as it always had been. He had broadened out a lot more, if that was even possible, from training hard every day with Theodore though he knew the blond took it easier on him than he did the soldiers. Theodore notices his green eyes had small bags under them when he got a little closer and felt his eyebrows furrow when the prince didn’t even glance at him when they stopped in front of him and Micah.
“Obviously he’s around here for a reason, but is it for the same reason as before? We’ve gotta be ready for if he attacks.” Alissia was saying but she stopped when she saw the look Theodore had on his face, Tristan finally looking over to the blond not at all surprised to see the frown on his face. As he aged, Theodore’s frown became sort of permanent whether he meant to or not though he still smiled and laugh a lot.
“God, don’t you look happy.” Tristan said, sarcasm dripping from his tone and making Theodore shrug and look away. He didn’t know why he got so annoyed when the prince didn’t pay him attention when they were together, he knew he obviously couldn’t show him attention all the time but it still annoyed him to not be acknowledged.
“Who’s attacking who?” Micah asks, bringing the boys attention back to them before he got lost in the field.
“Oh, Alissia was telling me about how she thought she saw that man from long ago. The one that attacked us at the inn.” Tristan said with a wave of his hand, indicating that he thought it wasn’t a problem.
“Even if he is in the area, he won’t attack.” Theodore states, turning away from them to gather the weapons he had lost grip of during the training.
“Why not?”
“Because he won’t.”
“You never did tell us about the vision you had when you almost killed him.” Tristan says, watching the blonde place the weapons inside a little shack they had built on the property.
“It’s not relevant until the actions are put into play for it to happen.” Theodore replies, he had become quite cryptic as he got older and it annoyed Tristan to no end. He missed the boy that didn’t hold things back. “I know you’re annoyed but it’ll make sense eventually when we see him.”
“So he will attack?” Micah asks, waving at the twins as they made an appearance home from work.
“No, he won’t attack us but he will find us. He probably already has, he’s just waiting for the right time to approach me.” Theodore answers with a small smirk, meeting the green eyes of his prince and without second thinking it, he grabs the older boys hand and pulls him closer so they were standing close enough to touch hips as Tristan moved beside him.
“Okay, I don’t understand but we trust you Theo.” Micah says and Theodore nods, letting a hand rest on the small of the prince’s back and shivering at the feel of the prince’s warm fingers landing on the skin of his hip when his hand snakes around the smaller man’s waist.
“So have there been any movements between you two?” Justin asks when he reaches them, crossing his arms watching the two interact especially when Tristan leans his head onto Theodore’s.
“No and there won’t be until we’re positive we’re safe.” Tristan states though he knew that was hard to believe when the group knew that they now shared a bed, and were sometimes passionate with each other when they’re bodies wanted it; though they hadn’t taken it further than kissing and cuddling.
“We saw that man today.” Julia said, wanting to change the subject as her brother asked about their relationship almost every second day. At everyone’s confused expressions, she continued “The guy that attacked us, he was at the inn and was just watching us all day. Though he looks slightly different.”
“Well he would Julia, it’s been two years since we last saw him.” Theodore says with a roll of his eyes and making the girl cross her arms.
“Anyway, when he left we followed him to see where he went and he actually went to a house not too far from here, like a few meters up the road. It’s a small white house with big windows and a black roof.” Justin butts in when his sister doesn’t say anything again and watches Theodore nod his head. His expression turned thoughtful for a while and nobody missed the way Tristan brought him back to focusing on them by running his fingers up his side. Everyone was still so surprised that the boys hadn’t taken their relationship all the way, but they understood a little bit of their reasoning.
“I’ll go track him down in a little while, see if he’s a threat or not.” Theodore states and everyone nods, moving to go back inside though Theodore holds Tristan back from going inside with them. His fingers wrap around the other’s tightly making the brunet look back at him with a grin that only grew when he was pulled back to stand in front of the blond. Their chests were pressed slightly against each other as the prince looked down to meet the golden eyes of his friend.
“You slept for a long time today.” Theodore says worry encasing his words and Tristan laughs lightly at him.
“I know, I stayed up a little later than normal last night.” He replies and watches the younger man tilt his head.
“Why?”
“I couldn’t sleep with your snoring.” The brunet teases, knowing full well that the blond doesn’t snore and laughing at the glare he gets, though that glare soon fades as a small smile takes over his features when the brunet steps closer so their bodies were right against each other.
“We’re not very good at keeping our distance.” Theo murmurs quietly, joining their other hands together.
“You’re only realising that now? I realised that when you moved into my room and took over my bed.” Tristan jokes watching Theo’s face grow pink with memory. It was true, the smaller man had taken over the prince’s bed when he barged in one night and slept next to him; he couldn’t take not being beside him a day longer. “Not to mention all the kissing that’s happened in the last two years.”
“Well, I’m not entirely to blame for that.” Theodore says defensively and Tristan grins while bringing his face closer, leaning down to make their noses touch. The two boys close their eyes and breathe in each other’s scent before Tristan opens his mouth to speak.
“Of course you’re not.” He whispers, letting their lips connect softly though Theodore stops him from pulling away by putting a hand on the back of his head, effectively deepening the kiss until Tristan forces the blond away with a light shove. “Do you want me to come with you when you meet with that man?”
“No, you’ll be safer here if he does want to fight. Now stop pushing away and kiss me before I go.” Theodore says, bringing their lips together roughly and making the prince sigh out his nose as he kisses back. Their lips moving perfectly together as their hearts raced to meet each other’s beat, pulling away from each other minutes later when their hunger for each other has dissipated though they knew it would come back in a couple of hours.
“Don’t be too late, you know how Alissia gets if you’re late for dinner.” Tristan says when Theodore grabs his two handed sword from the shack and begins walking away to make his way to the house Julia described.
He turned and walked backwards to look at the prince with a large smile.
“I’ll be back before dinner, but make sure you’re ready to give me a warm welcome.” Theodore says with a wink and Tristan rolls his eyes, moving to walk up to the blonde who stops his steps when he sees him coming closer. The way Tristan walks up to him has Theodore so mesmerised he doesn’t notice the shirt the prince had picked up when his back was turned; the brunet walked with such confidence and authority it made the smaller man shiver with delight.
“You’re forgetting something.” The prince says while holding the shirt out for Theo to take, which he does and after placing the sword down he tugs the button up shirt over his arms, doing the buttons up while watching the prince.
“I hope we can take our home back soon.” Theo murmurs, leaning down to pick the sword back up and quickly strapping it to his shoulders.
“So do I.” After placing one more kiss onto the blond’s plump lips, Tristan walks away and into the house without a second glance back making Theodore heave a sigh and turn away to continue to the house.
Tristan was immediately met with grins as the others had been standing at the kitchen window to watch the two interact, they normally tried to give them as much privacy as they could but seeing them be close when Theodore has been exceptionally difficult lately is a blessing to them.
“That was hot.” Justin says with a wink towards the taller brunet whose face goes red.
“Shut up.” Tristan replies, moving through to the living room to sit and anxiously waiting for his blonde to return.
The walk took about half an hour but sure enough the blond came to the house Julia had described though it was more like a cottage, looking around he noticed the shack and stable to the side of the small building. He wasted no more time by walking up to the door and knocked on the door three times, he waited no more than two minutes until the door was opened slowly and he was greeted by the sight of the man who had attacked him.
The smile dropped from the man’s face at the realisation of who was standing before him.
“So you are here. How have you been?”
