Hazel races after Emily. She finally stopped when she reached the back of the school where no one was around. Emily leans against the wall with a red fluster face. She slowly slides down while breathing heavily. Hazel finally reached her and saw that she was sitting down while leaning against the cool wall.
“Emily,” Hazel called out, “Are you alright?”
“Don’t come any closer to me….!” Emily yells back.
That didn’t stop Hazel though. She sits down right next to her and pat her back. Emily buries her face in between her knees.
“Should I call your parents to come pick you up?” Hazel asked.
“No…” Emily shakes her head, “I’ll be fine after cooling my head for a bit…”
“Okay…”
“This is why I hate Omegas… Always releasing their pheromones without realizing what it does to those around them…!” Emily tightens her grip on her arm, “Disgusting…”
“She’s been aiming for you for a while now,” said Hazel, “I think she may have gotten desperate…”
“Are you saying that it was right of her to use her pheromones to trigger me?” Emily said with an angry tone.
“No,” said Hazel, “I’m just saying that she liked you too much.”
Emily gave out a sigh, “I feel better now…”
“Good,” said Hazel, “Orpha’s panicking right now..”
“...Did I make another mistake again?” Emily asked with a low shy voice.
“Hmm…. I don’t know,” Hazel smirks at her, “You might as well ask him.”
“You know I can’t…” Emily groans out helplessly, “He thinks I’m nothing but… Trouble…”
Hazel chuckles at her, “Well… You haven’t proved him wrong so far.”
“Hazel…!” Emily whines at her, “Help me….!”
“Alright, alright,” Hazel laughs at her, “First, lets head back before Orpha gets a heart attack.”
Emily nods and follows after Hazel back to the cafe. They met up with Orpha who was giving Emily a lecture. Hazel could only giggle as she watched Emily get a lecture by Orpha. Ash and LJ come out from the staff room. Hazel hears their footsteps behind her and turns around. She greets them and apologizes to Ash about pushing him away earlier.
“Apologizes,” said Hazel, “Due to the situation, I caused harm to you.”
Ash was taken back by her formality towards them, “Oh, it’s all good. I’m not hurt anywhere.”
“Is that so,” said Hazel without looking at them, “Then, if you’ll excuse me.”
LJ and Ash’s eyebrow went up as she left them. They turn to each other somewhat confused by her behavior. She seemed like a social, kind and engaging person judging by how she was able to get Emily to come back. She even talked to Orpha, but not in the tone she used towards them. Did they do something wrong to her? But they’ve never met her before, so why was she acting so hostile towards them?
Orpha comes back after lecturing Emily, “Alright, ready to tour the place?”
“Are you free now?” LJ asked.
“Well,” Orpha looks at his watch, “I have at least fifteen minutes left to eat and hangout before going back to my shift. Take it or leave it.”
“We’ll take it,” Ash confirmed.
For the next fifteen minute, they used up the time that they had to hangout and wonder about the festival. When the fifteen minutes were up, LJ and Orpha returned to their shift for their club. Ash, who had a lot of time on his hands, decided to go to the rooftop to get some fresh air. On his way there, a hint of something sweet passes by his noise. His eyes widened in shock.
Ash fell down as his knee went weak. His heart starts to race feverishly. He could barely breathe normally and his temperature was rising. This didn’t make any sense, especially since his heat wasn’t supposed to come until next month. Moreover, he took the suppressant just in case it comes unexpectedly.
A sudden noise came from above him. Ash glanced up and saw two people going at it. One of them seems to be an Omega who was in their heat. Was this why his heat was acting up? Because another Omega was in heat, and his heat was reacting to that Omega’s heat?
<Agh... ! How annoying…!>
Because Ash took his suppressant already, he didn’t bring an extra one with him. A dumb and stupid mistake he will never make again. Ash forces his weak leg to stand up and heads towards the nurse office. However, there were too many people down stairs, and the risk of running into an Alpha was high.
Ash hears footsteps ahead of him. He quickly looks for a place to hide. Three people pass by him as they chit-chat with each other about what they did. One of them took a sniff in the air as they smelled something sweet.
“Do you guys smell that?” the student on the right asked.
His friends shrug at them. They were Betas while he was an Alpha. Maybe he was just imagining things, but the smell was very strong. He scanned the place to see if there was an Omega in heat, but there was no one around. The student took a few steps towards the place where Ash was hiding. His friends follow after him.
“Philp,” said one of his friends, “Where are you going?”
“I’m trying to find out where this smell is coming from,” he answered.
“Maybe it’s coming from all the sweets down the hallway,” said the other friend.
“No…” said Philp as he got closer to where Ash was hiding, “It's… This smell is…”
Philp was just a few steps away from where Ash was hiding. His heart raced as he quietly wished for Philp to just leave as soon as possible. He wanted to turn invisible, but this wasn’t a fantasy nor supernatural world. His body shook in fear. If Philp finds him, the worst will happen.
Just one more step, Philp would find him if he just turns the corner.
“What are you doing, Philp,” a female voice called out, “Shouldn’t you be going to your shift instead of loitering around like this?”
Philp froze in his footsteps and turned around. Ash looks up with sweat pouring down from his forehead. Philp chuckles at the woman, “Right. Sorry about that.”
He leaves with his friends and goes to do his shift. The woman stood there and glanced back, “Count to ten, and head straight to the nurse office. Right now, everyone should be doing their third shift.”
Before Ash could say thank you to the woman who helped him, she had already disappeared. He counts to ten and runs towards the nurse office just as she said to him. The nurse saw Ash’s condition and immediately tended to him. After having a suppressant, Ash’s heat finally calmed down. Now that his head was clear, he recalled hearing that voice before.
Ash searches his memories and remembers where he had that voice. It was when he first went into heat. The voice was the exactly the same one as the Alpha girl that helped him. He looks at the ceiling with clear eyes.
<She’s here… In the same school as me…>
Ash smiles to himself, “I finally found you.”
