“You’re in a good mood,” said LJ as he puts away the chairs used for their club for the festival.
“Am I?” said Ash.
“Did something happen during our third shift?”
Ash stacks away the tables and chairs, “Hmm…”
It looks like Ash wasn’t going to tell him. LJ wasn’t going to press him on the matter anyway. If Ash wasn’t going to tell him, then no matter how much he tries to ask, he’ll never tell him. They drag the cart that was holding the stack of chairs and tables. The festival was open to the public and has now closed. Now, it was time for the students to enjoy the aftermath.
A bonfire was being prepared for them at the soccer field. LJ and Ash drag the cart that was holding the stack of chairs and table as fast as they could. They wanted to be there when the wood got lit up by the fire. On their way to the storage room, they overheard someone yelling over the phone.
“Just leave me alone!” the voice yelled out.
The person hung up the phone and turned around. It was Hazel. They blink at each other before greeting each other. Hazel looks up and walks away. LJ and Ash wondered who she was yelling at. Emily passed by and approached them.
“Have you two seen Hazel?” she asked.
Ash points at the direction behind them, “She went that way.”
“Thanks,” said Emily as she rushed off.
“Girl problem?” said LJ.
“Maybe,” said Ash.
They shrug it off and head straight over to the storage room. The person in the front checking things off the list was part of the student council, Quinn Hersey. When they finally got to the front, Ash froze. He recognizes Quinn as one of the people who was going at it earlier on the staircases to the rooftop. LJ pushed the cart but it wasn’t moving. He looks at Ash, “Dude, push?”
Ash blinks a couple of times before he pushes the cart. What were the chances of running into Quinn?!
Quinn checks off the equipment the Art Club borrowed and smiles at them sweetly. Ash turns around as soon as they are done and walks away fast. LJ found his behavior weird. He walks up beside Ash, “Alright, cough it up. What’s wrong now?”
“Well,” said Ash, “It just so happened that I witnessed that person having a go earlier when I was heading to the rooftop.”
“A go at it?” LJ’s eyebrows furrows up, confused.
Ash forms a circle with his hand and puts a finger through it. LJ looked at him and said, “Oooh! You did!”
“Indeed.”
“Sweet man!”
“No! Not sweet!” said Ash as he narrowed his eyes at him, “Not sweet at all.”
“Chill man,” said LJ, “If they were going at it, then they were just horny was all. Don’t hate.”
“I don’t care if they were horny,” said Ash with an upset tone, “They can be horny for all I care, but they shouldn’t be releasing their damn heat pheromones like that!”
“Why did you go into your heat as well?” LJ said in a joking tone.
Ash was silent. LJ stops his laughter and looks at him in shock, “Serious?”
His silence was confirmation. LJ covers his mouth, “Dude, you really need to get laid.”
“That’s what you say after hearing this?” Ash was taken back.
“What else do you want me to say?” said LJ, “Ask if you’re alright and comfort you? You don’t look like you went through something horrible.”
Ash sighs out at him, “Are you really a friend?”
“Without a doubt,” said LJ with a smirk, “Beside, if nothing happened, I don’t see what’s the problem.”
“I guess,” said Ash, “Because that happened, I encountered her again.”
“Her?” LJ tilts his head to the side, “You mean that Alpha girl that helped you in middle school?”
Ash nods. LJ smiles at him widely, “So? Did you see her face this time?”
Ash shakes his head. He looks at him with a disappointing look, “What’s wrong with you dude? It's not just once, but twice now. Do you need glasses or something?”
“Hey,” said Ash, hurt by his friend's words, “She disappeared before I could see her face.”
“Sure…”
“It’s true!”
“Yeah, yeah,” LJ waves his hand around, “So she’s in this school huh. I would like to meet her as well and thank her for saving your ass.”
“Wow,” said Ash with a mocking tone, “What a nice friend you are.”
“Why thank you,” said LJ with a grin.
“Oh, fuck off,” said Ash as he punch his shoulder.
They arrived at the soccer field just in time before the woods were lit on fire. Orpha found them a place to sit. It wasn’t close but also wasn’t far from where the bonfire would be. One of the students that was part of the aftermath party brought out some refreshments with the help of some teachers. LJ and Orpha went to get them some refreshments. Ash stayed behind to save their seat.
“I’ll get us some refreshments, you stay here,” said a voice beside him.
“Alright,” answered another voice.
Ash’s eyes widen as he recognizes the voice. He turns around and grabs the person behind his hands. The person freaks out when they see Ash’s face. Ash’s eyes widened as he saw them. It was Emily. He was speechless when he saw her. Emily glares at him and yanks her arm out of his grip.
“What are you doing?” Emily glares at him.
