Robbie had never really worn a suit before. Never really had a reason to, his family’s idea of “dressing up” was nice jeans and a sweater. Now, standing in front of his mirror, in a fitted black blazer and slacks, he wondered why. He looked good, especially with his hair freshly dyed.
“Are you pleased with it, ma’am?” Rowan asked. They were standing off to the side, shifting nervously, “If not, I’ve prepared other styles, I just thought this might-“
“I love it.” He turned to hug the Beta, who seemed thoroughly flustered. “This is great, and I’m sure the other suits are too. Thank you.”
“It’s my pleasure, ma’am.” They replied, face beet red.
“We’re happy you like your new clothes, Robbie, but it’s late. Let’s get you ready for bed, hm?” Katherine said, a pair of silky pajamas in her arms and a look on her face that said she wasn’t dealing with any nonsense tonight. She had quickly become more of a mother figure than a maid despite only knowing her for a few weeks, so Robbie obediently let her help him get dressed into the soft clothes, before sending her and Rowan away. Casey had been off for the past few nights, on heat leave.
Robbie had only just settled into bed when there was a knock on his door.
He got up reluctantly, sleepy from the day’s activities, figuring it was probably just Katherine or Rowan having forgotten something. He certainly wasn’t expecting the King to be there, looking cozy in a turtleneck sweater and round glasses. King Scott smiled, and his brain short circuited.
“Robbie, you look nice tonight.” He greeted.
There were a few beats of silence where Robbie glanced down at himself, reminding his brain that he was wearing a pink button up shirt with the shorts to match. “I’m wearing pajamas.” He said dumbly.
“They’re nice pajamas,” The King chuckled, making his heart crawl into his throat because how did he make a laugh sound like that, “I was wondering if you’d like to watch a movie with me?”
Robbie didn’t quite understand why the man was even asking, because the man could ask him to do just about anything and he’d oblige, no questions asked. He nodded, “Uhm, yeah sure, Your Majesty. Should I change?”
“What you’re wearing is fine.”
The King waited patiently while he went to grab his slippers and robe, offering Robbie his arm once they were both in the corridor. He took it, now having had enough time to wonder where they were going to watch this movie at. What if the King took him back to his room? This close he could smell King Scott’s scent, something like lavender. What would it be like to scent him? It was sort of a foreign concept to him, despite being an Omega, his family weren’t the kind to scent each other, and he’d never been close enough to any of his friends for something like that. He thought back to when he’d cried the other day, how Allen had rubbed his wrists. They’d smelled of sweet mint for a few days afterward, even after having showered. It wasn’t a bad smell, not at all, and Robbie had found himself bringing his wrists up to his nose when he felt the least bit stressed.
“Did your maids help you dye your hair, Robbie?” The King asked, pulling him from his thoughts.
“No, another Suitor helped me actually. My maids hated it.” He giggled. Casey had nearly had a heart attack once he’d seen his hair. “Do you like it?”
“It certainly isn’t traditional, but it suits you. Who dyed your hair?”
“Allen. I haven’t been around a lot of Alphas, but he’s really nice.”
The King pursed his lips, as though he didn’t agree, but then he said, “I’m sure he is. I’m glad that you and the others are getting along.”
Robbie didn’t quite know how to respond to that, but fortunately it was then that they reached their destination, which wasn’t the King’s personal room, but what seemed to be a small movie theater. It was a dimly lit room, with three rows of plush chairs facing a large screen. A maid was standing beside a bar filled with snacks and a popcorn machine. She bowed as they entered.
They both ordered some hot tea, something that wasn’t offered among the various snacks, so the maid bowed again before leaving. The seats were big enough to hold two, clearly made for cuddling in mind, and apparently the King wanted to share. Robbie felt very awkward sitting so close to the King, though King Scott was the picture of ease as always.
“What kind of movies do you like watching, darling?” He had a tablet in his hands that seemed to control the projector, showcasing a seemingly endless supply of films to choose from.
“I’m not really picky. Uhm, nothing horror though?” He questioned, scooting just a bit closer to the King as the A/C seemed to kick on. It was freezing inside the theater. King Scott pinned him with a look that told him he needed to choose something. “A-a superhero movie? I like those.”
This seemed to please the King, and he selected a generic superhero movie that Robbie had definitely seen before. Their tea came, and Robbie gratefully wrapped his fingers around the warm ceramic, thanking the maid delivering it. It was once she’d bowed and left the room again that the King wrapped an arm around his waist, pulling him to his side. “You seem cold.” Was all he said, setting his own steaming mug on the side table to their left. “Do you like skin ship, Robbie?”
This close he could smell the undertones of his scent, like sweet vanilla and something a little muskier. That being said, the question threw him off guard, and he could feel the tips of his ears burning as he stumbled over his words, “Uhmm, yeah?”
Scott looked at him with an expression that he was quickly becoming familiar with, one that let him know what he’d just said wasn’t the right thing. “You seem unsure.”
“I’m sorry, Your Majesty. You mean, like, cuddling right? I like cuddling.” He mumbled sheepishly, not quite meeting Scott’s eyes. He did like cuddling a lot, but his family told him he was too clingy, and he didn’t have any close friends, so it wasn’t something he got to do often.
That seemed like the right answer, a pleasant little smile gracing the King’s lips. “How about we watch the movie then, hm?” He asked,
Robbie found that he couldn’t pay attention to movie, especially not with someone so pretty so close to him. The King was warm beside him though, and the movie was familiar, if not a little boring despite the action aspects, and Robbie quickly found himself melting into the older Omega’s side. If anything, Scott encouraged it, rubbing the hand wrapped around him up and down his arm.
“Are you getting sleepy?” The King asked when his head fell on his shoulder, and Robbie mumbled an affirmative noise in response, allowing his eyes to slide shut. There was a chuckle above him, “Maybe we should get you back to your room, darling, hm?”
“No, no. Wanna stay.” He protested, wanting nothing more than to fall asleep curled up beside the King. His presence was surprisingly comfortable right now, more relaxed, a stark difference from the interview the other day. Maybe it was because he wasn’t in “king mode” at the moment.
“Fine, but only because you’re so cute. Let me up, I’ll go get a blanket.” Robbie scooted over reluctantly, missing the immediate lack of warmth Scott had been providing. He wasn’t gone long fortunately, rummaging in the cabinets under the bar and coming back with a warm looking blanket. He sat down and Robbie was at his side almost immediately, situating himself back into a comfortable position as Scott covered them up.
Robbie had been having trouble sleeping, unused to the unfamiliar noises, smells, and people of the Palace. It had been almost three weeks at this point, and he hadn’t slept much almost the entire time. But now, he felt safe and cozy, and quickly fell asleep to the smell of lavender in his nose.

The Omega’s Room was something that Robbie was slowly becoming accustomed to. Robbie had never really heard of one before, but as far as he could tell, it was just a room where Omegas go to spend time together. It was sort of a strange concept, but Alphas and Betas weren’t allowed without explicit permission from the Queen, or in this case, King. Robbie hadn’t seen or heard of Scott entering the room since they’d been there, but him and the other Omega’s had been utilizing the room during the afternoons.
It was a cute space, with little couches and tables here and there. There was also a nook that Robbie found was good for taking small naps. It was definitely refreshing to be around other Omegas, and they were all nice for the most part. Even the other male Omega, who Robbie had come to learn his name was Levi, was actually super nice when he wasn’t yelling at the maids. Robbie didn’t really like that, but he didn’t want to make himself a target for the man’s sharp tongue.
“What about you, Robbie?” Lilly asked, snapping him out of his musings. He looked up to see the other two looking at him expectantly, and he felt his cheeks warm under their gazes.
“I’m sorry, what were we talking about?” He chuckled nervously. The trio were sitting in a little cluster of couches facing each other. They had been talking about how good Palace food was, previously, but apparently there’d been a change of topic since then.
“Have you spent time alone with the King yet?” Lilly asked, but Levi scoffed before Robbie could answer, “We’ve all been on dates with him at this point. How far have you gone with him?”
“Wh-what do you mean?” He stuttered over the words, hoping that Levi hadn’t meant what Robbie thinks he meant. He glanced over at Lilly, who seemed equally scandalized.
“Look, I’m just saying, it’s us Omegas who have the least of a chance ending up with the King. I think we can all agree that we’re here to make is His Majesty seem as inclusive as possible, but the likelihood of him choosing to be with another Omega? Almost none. I think it’s best if we’re all transparent with each other, because I’d rather see any one of us as the Queen rather than an Alpha or Beta.” Levi explained, and Robbie barely had time to process that before he was continuing. “So, I’ll go first. I gave King Scott a blow job the other night.”
Robbie’s face felt like it was on fire. The words were so brash, said so shamelessly in a manner that Robbie wasn’t accustomed to. He was used to people softening their words around him, mindful of his status as an Omega, but there were no Alpha and Betas here to overhear a few Omegas gossiping, no one to keep their words in check for at the moment.
“That’s very… forward.” Lilly purses her lips, cheeks also. Robbie was glad he wasn’t the only one feeling embarrassed. “I don’t think I’m super comfortable with sharing what I’ve done or haven’t done with the King.”
“Suit yourself,” Levi shrugs, before looking at Robbie, “What about you?”
“Uhm, we watched a movie together last night, but nothing like that happened. His Majesty was really gentlemanly.”
“Oh he’s a gentlemen for sure, even gave me a handkerchief after he finished,” Levi snorted, and Robbie tried to ignore the uneasy feeling in his stomach.
