“You can take a break.” I said after dealing with our fourth costumer. He nodded and headed towards the back. I sighed and leaned on the counter. It was so boring here. Ring things up and give change was all we did. At least the pay wasn't bad. It wasn't like I needed the money but it would be appreciated.
I finally caved into my growing boredom and went out back to grab my phone. I saw Blake and that pretty blonde kissing. I almost threw up. So predictable. So disgusting. I went back to the counter and ignored the fact that I was bored out of my mind. A couple guys came into the store. They toured the aisles and came up front with their needs. Alcohol, cigarettes, chips, soda, and candy. I hid my snort. “You need ID to prove you're 21.” I stated clearly.
“Come on princess. Just ring it up.” The blonde haired one said. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest. “I said you need ID. Either you pass one up or you leave.” I said. I didn't hide the annoyance in my voice. “Bitch if you just don't ring it up I'll. . .” “You'll what? Slap me? Send me crying to my daddy? Well news flash idiot I'll knock you straight on your ass." I growled. He smirked at me, and leaned closer. “You're really cute, but I've already told you to ring it up.” I heard a clap ring through the air then felt a sharp sting on my cheek.
That was all it took to send my soaring over the counter and tackling him to the ground. “Don't you ever slap me. I could whoop your ass in a hot second, you are so lucky I want this job.” I snarled. He still had that god damn smirk on his face even though he was pinned. It was annoying. “Stop looking at me like that. I'm pretty sure you have a girlfriend so I would hate to ruin that face over a look.” His grin widened. I slapped him as hard as I could. “I told you to stop looking at me like that.” An innocent look passed over his face. I rolled my eyes and got off of him.
I held out a hand and helped him up. “Who are you?” He asked. “Jessamine. Jessamine Klein.” “I'm Conner. Conner Simmons.” Simmons, Simmons, Simmons. Where had I heard that name before? The store owner. Shit! “Don't worry I won't tell my dad.” I sighed. I was in the clear. “Well just take the stupid shit. I'm pretty sure you don't have to pay.” I mumbled waving a hand at their things. I was lucky. No one but us and then people he came with were here.
“I like you. You're feisty.” I laughed. Was Conner trying to hit on me? “Bye Conner.” I waved at him and jumped behind the desk. I hated him already.
