REENA!
She’s freezing to death…
WAKE UP!!!
Retribution?
The price. What is the price?
She’s so cold… Wait… What is that feeling? A touch?
“Can you hear me?" a silky voice warmed the darkness of her mind as she became vaguely aware of her body being shifted. “This really isn’t a good place to take a nap, my dear…" the woman’s voice trailed off as warmth enveloped the necromancer.
Her eyes peeled open to see a blur of an arrow and a spray of crimson.
“If you stand with the Necromancer then you are guilty of her crimes as well!”
The hunter!
He’s back!
We need to run!
The woman is protecting her!
Use the woman as a distraction!
Reena! Do something!
“I will stand for what is right!" the woman declared while strengthening her hold on the Necromancer. “How dare you discriminate! Ho- AH!" she shrieked in pain as she twisted herself around the Necromancer, taking an arrow for her.
The woman took an arrow…. For Reena?
Reena! You need to-
“I’m getting you out of here." the woman gave her a pained smile with the Necromancer falling into her pools of crystal blue that were framed by lashes of snow. “It’s going to be ok." the sound of her voice echoed in the Necromancer’s mind as she faded from consciousness.
Where are we going?
We’re moving but I can’t see…
Reena! Wake up!
Something is wrong! Very wrong!
She’s so cold…
She’s so weak…
A gentle warmth caressed her as her senses whispered of the soft furs she laid in, and a gentle steam sweetened the air. With more effort than she cared to admit, she managed to open her eyes, and their focus slowly started to return. Hides formed the tepee that she laid within upon its fur floor. A small fire crackled in the middle with a pot that was hung above it, and a gentle steam rolled off of it. Her eyes slowly drifted until finding the woman from before sitting on the other side of the fire.
The woman’s hair was as white as virgin snow, and it cascaded down her back to tickle the floor. She wore a white fur cloak that hung from her shoulders, giving a generous view of the cleavage her clothes so proudly displayed, leaving no curve unappreciated and no doubts of the ample endowment of her chest. No faults could be found in her perfectly porcelain complexion as her blue eyes found the Necromancer’s.
“Leave me alone." she scowled while trying to move, but she gasped in pain, falling from the breath of distance she gained from the floor. She was severely reminded of her newest injuries by the searing pain brought on through her expression.
“I simply can not do that." the woman’s face fell into sympathy, “I will not leave you forgotten in the snow… Too many have been lost to the ignorance of the world.”
“I don’t care!" the necromancer snapped before the backlash of her slashed face forced her to retreat with tears in her eyes.
“But I care about you." the woman stated in a tone that commanded her acceptance, making her pause.
“You-You don’t even know me." she mumbled while avoiding the woman’s eyes as the woman moved, kneeling beside her head and gently petting her.
“Tell me your name." the woman softly ordered while pulling a jar out from her cloak.
“...Reena." she answered hesitantly as the woman opened the jar, dipping her fingers into the salve.
“That is a beautiful name." the woman gave her a fond smile before carefully applying the salve to the laceration that ran over Reena’s cheekbones and nose, earning a flinch.
“Wh-What is that?!" Reena panicked as the wound burned and tingled for a moment.
“It will numb the pain for the next part." the woman hummed as she reached, picking up Reena’s pouch from the ground.
“Th-That’s mine!" Reena chirped, “And what next part?!”
“I know, dear." the woman spoke softly as she retrieved the resin from it, and Reena’s eyes widened.
“Y-You’re not going to-”
“I am." the woman stated as she carefully applied the resin to her wound, and Reena tried to retreat but she found herself unable to. “Just breathe." the woman calmly reminded her as she placed a cool wet cloth over Reena’s eyes, “ Do not worry. A harbinger’s resin is perfect for sealing a wound such as this, and while it is paired with my salve, you will feel nothing until it is over and the salve has worn off." she assured her before Reena felt a heat combust over her face. “And when that occurs I will reapply the salve.” Soon the heat faded and the smell of seared flesh filled the tepee while Reena bit her trembling lip. “Shhh… It’s ok, Reena." her voice was soft as she pulled away the cloth and gently stroked her hair. “I will keep you safe. I won’t let anyone hurt you anymore…”
“I- I-”
“Hush… Just rest." she smiled softly, “I will be here when you wake up." she promised as Reena lost herself in the crystal pools of the woman’s eyes. “And when you do I’ll take care of you until you can take care of yourself.”
“Wh-Who are you?" Reena stuttered with a faint blush.
“I am…" her voice trailed off for a moment before a sweet smile played on her face and words of confidence left her lips, “I am Isha.”
“Isha…" Reena echoed her name, making the woman’s eyes widen with delight for a small moment.
“Yes." Isha nodded before gently petting Reena’s head, “Now rest my dear.”
Reena could not explain the calm or warmth brought onto her by Isha, but she was content to fall asleep to the rhythmic pets of Isha’s warmth. Time slipped past as Reena rested, sleeping more deeply than she had in all the time she could remember with Isha watching over her. The whispers were even calmer with more of them humming a gentle melody instead of berating Reena with questions.
‘Reena!’ the ghost called out, stirring her. ‘WAKE UP!’ the ghost demanded as she felt his cold touch before it was ripped away from her.
Her eyes flew open to a blinding flash of magic then Isha’s body crashing upon her.
“What’s going on?!" Reena exclaimed as she staggered to her feet only to be swallowed by chaos with a blunt force throwing her and tearing apart the tepee.
‘Reena! You need to get aw-’ the ghost’s words left as she froze.
Her beloved Ghost was fading into ash, his soul melting from the world while the hunter stood behind him, holding a holy sword that was banishing the Ghost.
“BAILEY!" Reena screamed as green flames erupted, lashing all around her to leave curses of decay without restraint. “YOU CAN’T TAKE HIM FROM ME!" she cried in desperation as forgotten bones jutted from the ground, creating a field of spikes, “BAILEY!" she wailed as she sprinted to the Ghost trying to grasp its soul with it only to slip from her grip. “NO!" she screamed as the flames of rot claimed the flesh of the hunter. “YOU’VE LEFT ME WITH NOTHING!" she cried as her heart abandoned her.
“YOU MONSTER!" the hunter cried in pain as she drew her sword.
“YOU THINK I AM A MONSTER?!" Reena lost herself to the scarring pain of the Ghost being cut from her soul, “I WILL SHOW YOU WHAT A MONSTER IS! I WILL TEACH EVERY GODFORSAKEN SOUL WHY THEY SHOULD LEAVE NECROMANCERS ALONE!" she vowed as the emerald flames of rot decayed all that they touched. “SVEN!”
A crimson light tore across the sky over Ossum with a deep heat saturating the air as the portal opened. A beast slowly descended with charred bones making its form and a long tail of vertebrae. A crown of horns protruded from its skull with empty sockets that only held the smoldering crimson flames that lit its core.
Reena rose her sword to the sky as the beast straightened its form, hovering over the mountain before it opened its arms with the sky turning a deadly red.
“I WILL SHOW YOU WHAT THE ROT OF EXISTENCE CAN DO!" she vowed as the green flames engulfed her sword, shooting towards Sven and coating him. The red sky turned green, and she threw her sword down. Emerald sparks fell from the sky as rain, decaying all it touched. The stench of rot filled the air as she claimed the lives of the mountain. Trees began to crack and fall in their wailing protests as time forgot their age. Animals rotted where they stood with their cries of agony doing nothing to reach the scarred soul. The hunter met his demise at the rage of the woman he had once loved.
The world has forsaken me.
Everyone is taken from me.
And those left, betray me.
I am a Necromancer.
I am the Rot of Existence.
I am nothing of what I wanted.
Reena…
IT HURTS!
I don’t like this…
Something is wrong…
IT’S TOO MUCH PAIN!
What is she doing?
The Ghost! He’s gone!
