Teagan
The scent of smoke wafted through my nose. My eyes snapped open immediately. I found myself looking into Kain's golden eyes. “I could get used to this!” Tori purred. I rolled my eyes at her. “Where's the fire?” I asked. I was afraid of the answer but I needed to know. “Pack house.”
I felt my eyes widen. “Pack house!? Not pack house. Baby, don't play like that with me.” Kain looked confused then afraid. I felt a tear ooze out of my eye. “It's not pack house. Right?” I fought to keep my voice still, but it still wobbled and cracked. That was the last I had of Grandma Teag. My parents!
“My parents. Where are they!?” I asked. Kain looked away from me. “Only your mother made it.” Not possible. “My father?” I asked. “Died in the fire.” No, no, no, no! I didn't realize I was screaming until Kain looked afraid.
Kain
Teagan looked like she was cracked in half. I could see it in her eyes. I would make it up to her. I would erase this heartbreak from behind her eyes. I cut me up to see her screaming with tears in her eyes. We attended her father's funeral that night. Teagan remained strong enough to say her piece, but crumbled to the ground after it was over.
She kept crying as we laid down, so I eventually rocked her to sleep. How could she lose her father right after gaining me? The moon goddess made no sense right now. How could she do this to Teagan right after giving her a new mate? I held my middle finger up to the moon. Eventually I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer so I fell asleep.
