Minutes flowed to hours; hours to days and those days into two weeks that Theodore spent away from Tristan, only going to the other house to train with the soldiers they’d gathered. It seemed that everyone knew what had happened after the first night Theodore was gone, the twins and the red haired couple instantly coming to Theodore when he arrived the next day to train, instantly asking if he was all right.
“Why’d you leave?” Justin had asked, getting a glare from his sister but Theodore just shrugged.
“You should know by now what happened, nothing stays quiet in our family. I’ll be coming home soon.” Theodore had answered though they knew he didn’t know when he’d be coming back, Tristan had come out to watch him train for a few days he was there but didn’t try to talk to his blond as he knew he didn’t want to talk. That didn’t stop the desire to be together from flaring to life in Theodore every time he saw him, but with that desire came sorrow from what the prince had said to him and that caused Theodore’s attacks on many of the soldiers to become vicious and rough, many of them taking several steps back before dropping their weapons and holding their hands up in surrender; it got to the point where Ares had asked Tristan not to come outside if Theodore was here. Tristan understood why but he hated it. He just wanted his blond back.
Today was the fifteenth day without speaking to Tristan and Theodore was beginning to feel fatigued from the effort it took not to run into the house where the brunet was and pull him into him.
He spent most of the day fighting with a group of men before moving to some sorcerers who were waiting to show him their powers and then going to where Wyatt waited for him to work out what his powers were like.
“So you’re still not talking to the prince?” The fiery haired man said and Theodore shrugged, focusing his mind on the ice suspended between his fingers and copying what Wyatt was doing with his orb of ice too. “You know he’s hurting a lot right?”
“I know that, I can feel him. Even now I can tell that he’s at the kitchen window watching us, he’s riddled with sorrow, guilt, jealousy and lust.” Theodore tells his, letting his magic go and leaning back to watch as Wyatt’s hazel eyes flicker from the ice to his face.
“You shouldn’t be doing this to him.”
“To him? What about what he did and said to me? You have no idea how much he hurt me.” Theodore defends, frowning harshly.
“Theodore I was sitting next to Ares when he said those things to you and yes they were very harsh from someone like your soulmate but surely being apart like this hurts more and you can tell he’s feeling guilty, shouldn’t that be something?”
“I don’t know, you don’t understand.” Theodore looks down at his hands ripping out blades of grass.
“Actually, I saw your face when he was saying those things to you and because of my gifts, I could somewhat feel the agony they gave you but I can also somewhat feel that you’re feeling just as much as he is. You need to make up and soon, otherwise this war will not be worth shit.”
Theodore had spent some time alone after Wyatt walked away to find Justin to work on his ice magic with him and Theodore thought about how he’d felt when Tristan had said those things to him and then focused on sifting through Tristan’s emotions to feel his own and was surprised to feel he was feeling almost the same as Tristan without the jealousy and set to making small fire tornados between his outstretched legs, looking up when a shadow casts over him and putting out the fires with his hands.
“Are you going to get savage today?” one of the women soldiers asked as she stood over Theodore, sword in hand and a smirk on her lips. Theodore looked her over; she was gorgeous though he didn’t feel the usual desire he had for women before he accepted his feelings for Tristan and suddenly felt sick for checking her out but made a smirk come to life on his face; she instantly looked overwhelmed by him. He stood slowly after grabbing his sword that had been resting beside him in the grass and watched her brown eyes follow him until he was standing over her; her chest was half the size of Theodore’s and he felt satisfied at the slightly terrified look that washed over her face as she looked up at him.
“Only if I need too.” He tells her, advancing on her without warning, swinging his sword strongly but she managed to dodge it, though barely as it sliced off some of the hair that flung around as she jumped back, and swung her sword back at him.
They parried for a long time before she disarmed him while knocking him to the ground and got to her knees over his hips so that she was close enough to have a dagger to his throat and her body positioned over his suggestively when she lowered the dagger and sat back. Theodore was breathing hard and felt his heart pounding from the exercise though she obviously took it as something else as she pushed her lips against his tightly. His hands went to her arms to push her away and it took a couple of seconds before she pulled away, though she was then gone from him a second later; thrown a few feet away. Theodore looks up to see Tristan standing above him with a frown over his green eyes that were directed at the girl.
“What the hell, man?” She shouted, standing and walking over to get in Tristan’s face. Theodore stood when he felt Tristan’s rage hit him square in the chest and tried to place a hand on the prince’s arm but was shrugged off.
“Don’t what the hell me! Don’t touch him again!” Tristan shouted his voice raw with anger.
“And why shouldn’t I?” She shouts back glaring into Tristan’s green eyes that Theodore just now noticed had dark half-moons beneath them.
“Because he’s mine.” Tristan’s voice had turn to an almost growl and Theodore shivered with delight despite the hurt from their last interaction.
“Well, it doesn’t look like he wants you since he hasn’t even spoken to you in over two weeks. Maybe he got sick of you!” The girl shouted in a harsh voice and Theodore jumped at Tristan to wrap his arms around him when the brunette goes to hit the girl.
“Get out of here before he tries to kill you.” Theodore states and she looks from gold to green eyes and turns away takes a couple of steps before turning and raising her dagger towards Tristan. It seemed to be in slow motion as Theodore turned around when she let the dagger go, sending it through the air and into Theodore who bites back a cry when the blade buries itself deep into his back; just barely missing his spine.
“Oh, god! Theodore, why did you do that?” The girl exclaim hysterically and Theodore raised his head to look at her when she steps in front of him.
“You would’ve stabbed him if I didn’t, it doesn’t matter if we haven’t spoken for a little while I am still his and he is still mine. You were wrong to assume I’d want you.” Theodore hisses at her and she looks shocked before turning and walking away, leaving her dagger in Theodore’s back.
“You really are dumb.” Tristan says quietly and Theodore chuckles.
“Whatever, just get this knife out of me,” he replies and Tristan doesn’t respond, he just stands over Theodore and pulls the dagger out quickly before placing his hands over the wound, bringing a groan out of Theodore at the movements.
“Why did you do that for me?” Tristan asks, his voice quiet again as he drops beside the blond who turns his head towards the brunet.
“Like I said, we may not have been speaking but I am still yours Tris, I will always be yours. Couples fight, doesn’t mean I’m gonna go shack up with the first bitch who shows interest in me.” Theodore states and Tristan feels a small smile creep onto his face slowly.
“I’ve missed your voice.” Tristan says and Theodore smiles softly, leaning forwards to put his forehead to the prince’s
“And I’ve missed yours. This doesn’t mean I’m over what happened, what you said hurt me Tristan. But we can get back on track.” Theo tells him, letting his eyes fall closed as he focuses on pushing his magic to heal the wound.
“How do we get back on track?”
“If you’re willing, tomorrow I can teach you how to use that ice magic and figure out what other powers you have.” Theodore suggests and though Tristan had already been getting Justin to teach him, he didn’t want to waste an opportunity to fix what was wrong between him and his soulmate.
“That sounds excellent.”
The sun was down by the time the boys pulled away from that small embrace and Theodore walked inside to have dinner with everyone for the first time in fifteen days, shaking his head at everyone’s grins when he enters the house holding Tristan’s hand.
“So, are you moving back in?” Justin asks and Theodore rolls his eyes.
“I don’t think that’ll be very wise until the hurt is gone and I think Tristan understands that.” Theodore answers, looking at Tristan who nods with a small smile.
“I thought you were going to tear that woman to shreds when you stormed out there Tristan, I’ve never seen you so angry.” Julia states and Tristan shrugs while his cheeks went pink.
“I don’t like people touching what’s mine,” he says confidently and they all keep eating until Ares stands and motions that himself and Theodore should head home. They said their farewells though Tristan suddenly ran outside before Theodore could completely disappear; the blond had just turned when the prince barrelled into him and wrapped his arms tightly around him. Theodore stood shocked for a second before wrapping his own arms around the brunette and held him close.
“I’ll miss you until I see you tomorrow.” Tristan murmurs into his ear and then pulls away to place a small kiss on Theodore’s cheek. Even that small bit of affection made Theodore’s heart pound and he had to force himself not to follow the brunet back into the house and press him against the wall to kiss him. He turns slowly after Tristan has entered the house and follows a grinning Ares back to the house where they sit and talk for a while before heading to bed.
Sleep doesn’t last long though as there is soon a pounding on the front door of the house, a pounding that soon stopped and Theodore could just make out some voices before his door is thrown open and a light is behind his eyes, making the black turn to hot pink. He forces his eyes open to see a fear stricken Justin standing in the doorway, though after that shock fades Theodore feels sick at the amount of blood that was covering the ice sorcerer who had tears streaming down his cheeks. Theodore quickly jumps up and moves over to Justin and places a hand on his shoulder.
“Are you hurt? What’s happened?” Theodore asks and walks Justin back out to where Ares is preparing tea even if Theodore thought it was a waste, they needed to calm Justin down before proceeding with whatever plan they came up with.
“I’m not hurt, this isn’t my blood.” Justin takes a breath after speaking shakily and turns to Theodore with teary eyes, “We tried to hold them off Theodore but there were so many that came and I couldn’t get my magic to stop all of them, Julia tried too but our powers kept cancelling out the other. Her fire melted my ice too much and they got through us to the point that we had to fight with our swords. We didn’t know there was a group coming through the front of the house until it was too late and they were taken.”
“Who was taken Justin?” Ares asks, though they knew the answer before he even uttered the words.
“They took Wyatt and Tristan before we even realised someone had come in through the front. We fought as hard as we could Theodore but there was too many and we couldn’t… we couldn’t…” Justin breaks off as sobs wrack his body and Theodore puts a hand on his shoulder, making the older blond meet his gaze.
“You did everything you could Justin, we will get them back but where is Alissia and Mica? Where’s Julia now?” Theodore asks quietly and more tears slip out the other’s blue eyes.
“Julia is preparing a burning while I ran to come get you two, hoping you hadn’t been attacked.”
“A burning? For who?” Ares asks and Justin breaks down into sobs before taking a deep breath and answering, and in minutes Ares and Theodore are both dressed in protective, black armour with the large two handed swords strapped between their shoulders and multiple daggers, with an axe for Ares, on their belts. Their clothes were packed into their bags and they followed Justin back to the house Theodore had called home for the last two years.
It was obvious a fight had happened here from the blood and bodies spread across the back field and Theodore felt grief strike him when he walked through the house to the backyard where Julia sat with Micah and Alissia lying beside her; both of them lifeless and unmoving. Dead; both of them. From trying to protect Tristan and Wyatt because Theodore wasn’t there to protect them all.
Julia was sobbing uncontrollable after seeing Ares and Theodore, the older man dropping beside her to wrap her in a hug and Theodore watched perplexed as Julia sobbed against his shoulder as Ares whispered into her ear, his hands running through her blonde hair. Justin stayed beside Theodore, silently looking down at his feet until Theodore brought him closer with his arm around his shoulders, and they both felt the sorrow of losing two people who had treated them like their kids, two loving people they had considered family. Theodore suddenly felt rage build up inside of his chest; this was the third time these people had killed someone from his family.
“What do we do now? They’ve taken Tristan and Wyatt, what can we do?” Julia asks, a hopeless tone to her voice and Theodore looks down at her to see tears still running down her cheeks as she hiccups.
“We find them and we kill every last one of them for doing this to us; for killing our family members and taking two more of them.” Theodore says his voice like a sharp blade through paper and they all look at him in surprise. “I will kill every single one of them with my bare hands if I have too.”
