Chronicles of the rising
Book One: Omega
Prologue - Schemes
Within the cold vast empty darkness of the in-between, a small pale blue light slowly appears within The Void.
"Brother, are you here?" A female voice echoes in to the distance.
A strong golden light begins to brighten close by.
"Yes, Sister, I am here." A deep male voice responds.
"What say you, brother? the Convergence is almost upon us again."
"Yes, I too feel it's pull."
"What of your Champion, brother?"
"Silent still." The male answered with deep sadness.
"Then, shall we wait again?"
"What choice have we? The corruption spreads and with it Gaia continues to slowly die and with her, our beloved creations shall perish." There was a note of desperation tinging his answer, and perhaps fear?
"There are ways to awaken your Champion . . ." She suggested apprehensively.
"Yes, though I'd prefer not to use them without absolute certainty that they would be successful."
"Ah, I see." The pale blue light began to float back and forth with a nervous energy.
"Better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission, is it?" The male chuckled. "Why am I not surprised you have already spun your web, 'O weaver of Fate?"
"You said so yourself, what choice have we?" The first hints of fear now creeping in to her voice. "I only worry what she would think." Now she seemed almost remorseful.
"Our sister still slumbers from the our last insurgence. It should be obvious without saying though, take care, sister. He is the last of her children."
"I haven't forgotten. I shall be gentle with him."
"Gentle, you? as a rock thrown in to a still pond." Came the amused response.
"I have sent my emissary to collect the Aquamancer. There is but your Champion to awaken and the Geomancer to be arranged for our plans to take fruition."
"And I suppose the Geomancer is my responsibility is what you're trying to get at?"
"I can't very well do everything, brother. Earn your keep. Leave the rest to me."
He sighed deeply. "As if I have a choice. you become insufferable when you don't get your way. Very well, I shall try my hand at plotting." The bright golden light faded out.
The soft blue light bobbed about for some time in quiet contemplation.
"Be brave my Campion, you'll be needed more than you know. Sister, please forgive me. I can't protect him from all pain, but I can try and heal the scars that still bleed from your beloved son."
The soft glow winked out.
