I fussed over my outfit. What if Conner shows up? It wouldn’t be fair to wear something cute if he did. Jeans and a sweater. It was to hot for a sweater. T-shirt it is, but which one. I threw on my middle school graduation t-shirt. It was a faded gray that was once a tie-died masterpiece. It fit my body like a glove.
I threw on black jeans and flats. I decided to leave my hair down. I phoned Woods. “Hey you ready?” He asked “Yeah.” I answered. “Ok. See you at there.” He said. I hung up, and escaped the confines of my room. I turned around to see Dad leaning on the wall. “So who’s Blake?” I groaned inwardly. “He’s. . . a friend.” I swallowed. Here it goes. “And you two went out?” I cringed. “No Dad. He works with me.” Dad nodded. “Why was he here?” He asked. “He was drunk. I didn't know where he lived so I brought him here.” Ge nodded and stroked his short beard. “When will I see him again?” I bit back a laugh. “Soon.” Dad nodded and walked away.
I lew down the stairs and out the house. Jake stood at the door of my car tapping his foot. “Blake.” He spat. “I work with him. He asked me out two days ago, and wants to be my boyfriend. You will get to meet him very soon. Next week.” I ranted. He grinned. “Are you going to your date now?” I shook my head. “I'm going out for lunch with Woods. As friends.” Jake shrugged and stopped guarding the car door. I sighed and jumped in. After waving goodbye I took off. I wanted to get to the store first.
I succeeded in getting there first. I pumped my in the air. I crossed the street. “Jessamine.” I turned my head in the direction of my name. It was Blake, he leaned against the door to the store. He was wearing jeans and a tight gray shirt. I always liked a boy in tight shirts. I groaned in frustration. Who told him he could wear gray today?! “Why'd you have to wear gray today?! You could have worn gray any other day of the year!” I was fuming. Now people would think we were into couple shirts.
“Cute couple shirts.” Carston said. He playfully punched Blake on the arm. I growled at them. I turned around and started crossing the street. “Jess, wait!” I heard Blake's heavy footsteps behind me. My fight or flight instincts kicked in and I ran. I weaved between the cars as I got to the parking lot. I found my car before Blake could find me. I jumped in, locked the doors, and blasted the radio.
He found me 2 minutes later. I couldn't hear him because of the music. Ater a minute I rolled my window down. “Damn Jessamine! Why the fuck did you do that to me?!” I grinned at him. “De wasn't playing when she said you were fast.” I merely smiled at him. “Talk to me. Dammit.” I shook my head no. “Fucking talk to me. Please.” I grinned. “I like it when men have manners. Remember that.” Blake frowned at me. I shrugged. “Did Woods get here yet?” I asked. He rolled his eyes. “Yeah. Anyways. On Monday we'll have our date. Wear something cute and I'll introduce you to my friends.” I smiled. “Dress cute, or jeans and shorts cute?” I asked.
“How about sexy dress cute?” I had just what the doctor ordered in that department. “Tell me your favorite color.” His face twisted in surprise. “Yellow.” Yep, I had the perfect dress.
