🙄

When it’s almost 6, I hear a knock at my door and open to let Jamie in.

“One extra large pizza and one pint of ice cream for Allison Martinez.”

“Should I tip you?” I laugh as I close the door behind her.

“I wouldn’t complain.” She sets the pizza on the table and puts the ice cream in the fridge.

“What are we watching?”

“Well, I saw the list you sent me of the Marvel movies you watched and I will not accept the fact that you’ve never seen either of the Ant-Man movies.”

“I meant to, but I never got to it.”

“Now is the time.” She sits on my bed with the entire box of pizza. “Paul Rudd is one of the best things in this world and these movies are really underrated.”

“Let’s do it then.” I grab a slice of pizza and she presses play.

“How the fuck is he not freaking out as much as he should when the ants are, like, a billion times his size?!” I yell at the TV. “This is so unrealistic!”

“Not freaking out isn’t realistic, but shrinking to that size is?”

“That’s not the point! If I saw an ant that big I would shit my pants! Wouldn’t you?”

“Yeah, sure, but did you like the movie?”

“Of course I did! Just press play on the second one.” She laughs.

“Since you asked so nicely.”

The movie starts playing and she switches the empty pizza box for the ice cream. She hands me a spoon as she sits next to me.

Halfway through the movie the ice cream is long gone and I’m leaning forward, really invested in the story. I turn around to ask Jamie something, but I forget what it was when I notice she was looking at me instead of watching the movie.

“What are you looking at?” She looks away and I frown. “What?”

“I was just looking at your reactions, they’re cute.” Her eyes still don’t meet mine.

“Cute?” I giggle.

“Yeah, funny, I don’t know.”

“Ok…”

“You’re missing the movie.” She points back to the screen, but I can’t really focus for a few minutes.

She was watching my reactions to the movie because they were cute? I don’t understand what that means, but I manage to get my attention back to the movie.

“WHAT THE FUCK?!” I yell when the movie ends. “JAMIE, WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED?”

“Wait, didn’t you watch Infinity War?”

“I did, but what-” my eyes go wide. “Oh… shit.”

“That’s pretty accurate.” She laughs. “So, final thoughts?”

“Well, those are pretty good, they’re really funny. Paul Rudd is so good, but Evangeline Lilly… she’s gorgeous.”

“I know!” We both laugh and I look at her face.

We stay in silence for a few seconds, just looking at each other. I smile and look at her lips when they do the same as mine. My eyes stay there for a little bit before I look at my hands.

“Thanks for making me do this.” I point at the screen. “It was really fun.” I look back up and find her dark brown eyes again. “I really needed it.” I smile and lay my head on her shoulder with my eyes closed. “You’ve been so good to me these past few weeks. I mean, you’re always good, but lately you’ve outdone yourself.” I feel her body shake when she giggles. “I’m serious!” I lift my head and find her eyes. “You’re the best thing in my life right now.”

The room goes silent once again. We just stare into each other’s eyes and I can feel how grateful I am for her. I don’t ever want us to grow apart, she means too much to me and I don’t know if I would ever get over her. I feel like things are shifting and I frown a little bit.

“What’s wrong?” She breaks the silence.

“Nothing, it’s just…” I stop to figure out how to phrase it. “You’re changing me,” I whisper still looking at her. “I don’t know how or why, but you are.”

Her eyes seem to see my soul and I don’t mind it. “I hope it’s for the better.”

“It is.”

Our eyes keep holding each other’s gaze and I let out a yawn.

“You’re tired.” She laughs. “I’ll let you sleep.” She gets off the bed and starts putting her shoes back on.

“Oh no. You are not leaving me, missy. This is a sleepover.” I jump to grab the other shoe. “You are getting your ass back in that bed and we’ll sleep like two little babies.” She giggles.

“I don’t want to bother you.”

“Excuse me?” I lift my hand up to my chest. “Now I’m offended! How could you possibly think that you would ever bother me?” She stays quiet. “That’s what I thought. Now take that shoe off and let me get you something for you to sleep in.”

She sighs, but takes the shoe off and follows me to pick some clothes for her. I hand them to her and she starts walking to the bathroom.

“Are you taking a shower?”

“No…” she looks back at me. “Just changing my clothes.”

I stare at her. “We’re big girls, you know?” She frowns. “You don’t have to change your clothes in the bathroom. I don’t mind if you want to change it here.”

She looks at me for a little bit and then places her clothes on my desk and starts to change. I was about to turn around, but when she pulls her shirt off and her bare back is exposed I freeze. How can someone’s back look this good? She looks hot- what the fuck am I saying? She’s your friend, Allison.

I turn around and change my own clothes, but my thoughts are still on Jamie and- what the fuck is happening right now?

When I turn to go brush my teeth I find her eyes on me. “What?”

“Oh nothing.” She shakes her head. “I just like your shirt.”

I look down and see the light green shirt with a cute dog cartoon. “Thanks…” I walk past her and lock myself in the bathroom.

What is going on? Did that pizza have drugs on it or something? Why was I checking Jamie out?

I’m so tired I don’t even understand what is happening anymore.
