"If only it were that easy," Akira thought as Hikaru took his usual seat beside him. He had almost forgotten they were seatmates.
They didn't exchange greetings here either. Instead, Hikaru took his usual position, laying his head down on the desk, ready to doze of as class started. He made it a little easier for Akira to avoid him.
They maintained their silence through out the school day. Strangely, it wasn't uncomfortable. For Akira it was well needed. And for Hikaru, he had just assumed that when he wanted to talk, they would talk. He wasn't very social, and wasn't the type to start up a conversation unless it was essential. It was surprising how they hadn't realized their personalities were somewhat similar and jelled well together. If one wasn't too busy sleeping, and the other too busy ignoring the former, they would be a great pair. But neither was about to admit that to themselves or one another.
When school had ended, Akira packed up his bag and headed for the station. He was the last to leave the class, after sitting idly watching as everyone else left. He stalked along, purposely gazing at the ground with each step he took. He had had a nightmare and didn't get enough rest. It irked him a little how he could never get over the bad dreams he'd had since he was a child. It gave him comfort that he was the only one around as he rode the train back. He didn't like it when people saw him tired.
He gave a small sigh as he trudged in the opposite direction from home as soon as he left the private school station. He was almost caught unaware when a black van skidded off the road and blocked off his path forward.
He acted surprised as the door slid open and a couple of men with black masks over their faces cornered him from all sides, and placed a stained handkerchief over his nose.
"Huh?!" He exclaimed, pretending to struggle and flail his arms a little. Just as he was about to be tossed into the van...
"Let him go!" The voice of a rescuer yelled, footsteps getting louder as he rushed towards them.

"Say that again to my face," He said coldly, his right leg pinning his unfortunate opponent against the wall. He stood in an alleyway with a group of three behind him, one other groaning body on the floor, and the frightened one leaning on the wall. "What did you say you'd do to my sister?"
"I-I'm sorry!" He stuttered, trembling with fear as he gazed at the figure of the boy standing tall before him. "I... I didn't mean it I swear!"
"You didn't mean it?" He repeated, sending a chill down the trembling boy's spine. "Nobody says anything they don't mean."
"Please! Please! We'll lay off your turf. You'll never see us again! I didn't mean what I said about your sister!" The boy begged, almost on the verge of tears.
After a heavy sigh and a cold glare he said, "Get lost."
"Yes!" The still trembling boy answered quickly, before scurrying off the ground. Even though he was also injured after being beaten to a pulp, he managed to grab his groaning friend off the floor, and supported him with his shoulder as they scampered away as fast as they could.
"Um... Boss?" One of the boys behind him started. "You don't have a sister, do you?"
"No," He sighed, cracking his neck from exhaustion. "But they didn't need to know that. Maybe they shouldn't have involved non-existent family members."
"Still as cold as usual," The two boys behind snickered.
"Aren't you the ones that called me here because you can't handle shit yourself?"
"Yes, yes," One laughed.
"Thank you, okay?" The other added as they chortled, while he put his arm around his shoulder. "You should ease up a little Ruru-chan!"
"Lol," They continued to laugh. "You know Hikaru-chan doesn't like it when we call him Ruru."
"I don't like it when you call me at all," He sighed, smacking the hand around him off, and walked away. "You guys are exhausting. Don't call me again."
"Aw, come on Boss," They chuckled as he gained distance from them. "Where are going?"
He stuck his hands in his pockets as he trudged back home. He didn't know why he still hung out with those guys he considered idiots, but it was something to do. He had no dreams or ambition though he was athletic and did reasonably well academically. He let them drag him around since he was bored anyway.
"Mmmn! Mmmn!"
He was alerted by the sounds of struggling not far away enough to ignore.
"What's going on?" He thought as he watched a group of men tackle a young man, and forcibly drag him towards a black conspicuous van.
His eyes widened as he noticed the familiar whitish-grey hair, and slender body.
"You've got to be kidding me," He thought, as he forced himself not to laugh at the situation. "Just what is up with this kid?"
After pondering whether or not to for a second, his conscience got the better of him, and without thinking he yelled...
"Let him go!" And darted towards the men.
Once the boy being abducted made eye contact with the boy rushing towards them, like a spark, a similar thought raced through the minds of the both of them.
"Seriously?!"
