As footsteps out in the passage way got louder, the standing man's nervousness grew.
'Their boss must be a really scary dude' Haruki mused to himself as he assumed a position that made him look like he was still restrained.
Finally, the door swung open, and revealed the features of a hardened man. He stood tall with his coat hanging on his shoulders in style, not properly worn, and his hands in his pockets. He was one of the leaders of a group within a large crime syndicate that made it's fortune through various illegal activities. His main source of income was an unfair lone agency. The other was how Akira managed to get himself kidnapped.
"This is the one you mentioned?" He spoke, after scanning the room and picking out Akira among the clutter.
"Uh... Yes sir," One of the men following behind him stuttered, bowing slightly as he did.
"A beauty," He commented, lifting Akira off the ground by his collar, and glimpsing at all his features as he used his index finger to turn his head from side to side. "Such delicate features. The viewers might think he's a girl."
After saying this, he explored Akira's body with his fingers. Touching his chest to emphasize the need to make sure he wasn't female.
"Silky hair," He added with a smirk, as he helped him brush the hair off his face. Akira was handsome, but in this context, he became more beautiful than masculine. "He's usable."
A flint of range and disgust ran through Hikaru as he had just realized why his classmate was the target of kidnapping.
"Take your hands off him!" He exclaimed, fuming at the thought.
Akira halted the action he was doing in secret as he was stunned by Hikaru's outburst for his sake. Regaining his composure, he resumed covertly sticking his fingers in his pocket. Beep!
BOOM!!
An explosion went off somewhere around the entrance of the building above ground.
"What was that?!" The men exclaimed, scattering to find out what happened.
"Now!" Akira yelled, bringing his knees to his chest and kicking the leader of the group off him, then quickly undoing the restraints on his hands and feet.
"How'd you do that?" Hikaru asked in amazement, completely bewildered as to how he got the rope tying his hands behind his back off.
Ignoring his question, Akira grabbed his hand and dragged him towards the door at the back corner he had ensured was open the night before. It revealed a flight of stairs that led to the upper floors above ground. This was one of their office buildings, and they were held in the basement.
They darted to the first floor, and docked into the first office door that was open. Coincidentally, it was the file room Akira needed to be in.
"What now?" Hikaru asked, as the sound of following footsteps got louder.
He ignored that question as well, and started skimming through all the drawers by the door.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm looking for something,"
"Here? Now? In the office of these yakuza?"
"It's complicated," Akira waved off, concentrating on skimming through the second drawer now.
After a long, heavy sigh, Hikaru added, "Then, what are you looking for?"
"Never mind," Akira started, stopping his motion as he reached the third drawer of the fourth cabinet he searched through, and pulling a black file out. "I found it."
He tapped a small device attached to the side of his head, above his ears, that connected an optical camera to his eye sight. As he blinked, snaps of the several pages of the file were taking, then he destroyed the file after making sure he had taken a picture of everything necessary. 'Oliver was right, they did save everything in hard copy' He thought as he tore the documents to pieces and stuffed them in his pocket to thoroughly burn later.
Hikaru grew incredibly suspicious of Akira by the moment, but felt it wasn't the time to address the issue as the footsteps of their leader had just stopped by the door of the room they were hiding in.
Without warning, the door was kicked in leaving the two exposed. In front of them stood a group of five armed men, the leader included, against just the two of them, unarmed.
"What do we do now?" Hikaru asked, dangerously aware of the hopelessness of their situation.
Just as the guns turned to them, another explosion went off. This time, closer to them than the last.
Akira stood there astounded. He was sure he had only prepared and set off one explosion to aid in his escape without the use of his innate.
'Whatever,' He gritted his teeth, and grabbed Hikaru's hand again, leading him out of the room while the men were distracted by the sound of the explosion.
"Shit! Get them!" The leader cried. Annoyed from the commotion that was sure to alert the police to their location.
Before they could make it to the stairs, men cornered them from the side and soon, they were surrounded on all sides.
Feeling he no longer had a choice, flares grow from his side as he began to activate his innate, but then...
"Hey Akira!" A voice came up from behind him.
He had just noticed that the hand he had been holding had gone limp and Hikaru was knocked out. He glanced up to see the figure responsible. He had already guessed who it was from the Australian accent behind the familiar voice.
"Luck," He uttered, gazing at the figure of his teammate. 'We weren't supposed to meet until... Wait, so if he's here then that means..." He deliberated, as more shadows began to appear from the dust cloud caused by the explosion.
"Now who is it that dared to lay hands on my baby brother?" The voice of their team leader mused.
"Lucien."
