~ One long pitching lesson later~
I’m watching them practice and jack has really improved! I cant believe my tips actually worked! His pitches are a lot better now.
-after practice-
Practice ended about 10 minutes ago. Carter had to go grab his things and told me to go on ahead and that he’d catch up. I’m about to head down the side walk, but a noise from behind me stop me. I turn around and see two people kissing. They’re wearing baseball uniforms. It’s too dark to see who it is though. i just turn around and start rolling down the sidewalk.
All of a sudden someone grabs my shoulder and i swear i jump 2 feet out of my chair. I also kinda squealed.... and when i turn around i see... carter. Oh my god please tell me he didn’t hear that.
“HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Oh my GOD! You face!”
I put my hand over my chest trying t catch my breath.
“Asshole! I’m already in a wheelchair I don’t need to have a heart attack too!”
He chuckles and says “also, what was that noise. It kinda sounded like a mouse squeaking.” He’s ginning a knowing smile and i blush heavily.
Shit. He did hear it!
“Uhhh what do you mean?” I say trying to play stupid.
“Uh-huh. I heard you squeal. You can’t lie your way out of this one, Maxie.”
Damn it. He knows me too well. Also uhhh what the HELL is up with that nickname!?
“Uhhh don’t call me that.” I say trying to hide my grin cause honestly...i kinda like it. Like hell if he’s winning that easily though.
“Nope it’s staying. Sorry.”
“No, your not.”
“You right. I’m not.”
I chuckle and shove him playfully. Happiness fades when we see his mom standing on my front porch.
“Shit!” Carter says under his breath, but i still hear it.
“Go around back and climb in through my window. I’ll deal with her.”
He doesn’t respond, just runs where his mom can’t see him and disappears behind the house.
“Hey, Ms.Evens.”
“Hello, Maxwell.”
