“My stuff is downstairs. Help me get it?” Shinsou opens the door and holds it for Kaminari, who nods.
“No problem! What type of roomie would I be?” He walks over and they leave, heading for the elevator.
“My name is Kaminari. You can call me Kami, though ‘cause we’re friends. I’ll call you Shinsou because you don’t like Shin. We are friends, right? You seem fun but tired, like you should sleep for a while. Maybe you don’t wanna sleep. I’m probably overstepping. Sorry I like to talk and you don’t seem much of a talker.” Kaminari monologues, keeping his chatty, loud, silly mask on. Shinsou glares at him, unable to escape the agonizing elevator.
“Look, if you keep talking so much we will never be friends.” Kaminari looks at his feet.
‘Stay happy. Smile. Laugh. Bubble! Smile! MAKE FRIENDS!’ Kaminari thinks as the elevator dings. He runs out to the bathroom, hiding the tears but they came too fast. Luckily, it was empty so he could lock the door and cry in peace.
“I-It’s so hard. To pretend.” He wheezes out, digging through his pockets for the phone.
“T-T? Dorm lobby bathroom. Now. P-Please.” He croaks and hangs up, trying to steady his breathing.
“I’m fine. Everything is great!” He smiles and jumps up and down, Kurugiri’s portal appears and a hand sticks out of it.
“C’mon.” Toga says and Denki takes her hand, unlocking the door as they leave.
“Sorry, Toga, I just couldn’t stay another moment in there, being nice to those hero-wannabe assholes.” Kaminari rolls his eyes and sits on the couch with Toga, her playing with his hair.
“It’s alright Denks, you’re here with us and we love you.” She hugs him softly, them both smiling. Kaminari was real happy, not the fake happy he used with the other students. Real happy.
“If I wasn’t gay I would totally date you.” Kaminari kissed her cheek and smiled.
