Teagan
Tori continued to run until our legs were numb with exhaustion. I shifted back and leaned against a tree. How could he?! I wanted to go back, but I wouldn't allow him to think he could use me. Why would he lie?
I sensed a presence around me. I shifted and looked around. I was surrounded by wolves. I didn't even know whose territory I was in. I knelt down to the one who seemed in charge. Tori and I were too tired to fight. I knew if we tried we would definitely pass out. I didn't want to give in, but I had to. The leader shifted back. "Teagan?" I saw Marcus's face. His beautiful and haunting face. It was then that I passed out.
Marcus
"Wolf spotted." My beta said through the mind link. I ran to catch up with the rest of the pack. It wasn't hard, they were fucking slow. We slowly surrounded to wolf. It's coat was a reddish brown. Teagan? Mat questioned. No. Teagan shouldn't be this far out. I countered. What if Teagan had pups and this was one of them? Mat growled. No Mat, if she had pups they would still be small. I reminded him.
The mating bond between us never actually broke. More like it was neglected. She never said the words "reject", so the bond still stood. At least it did for me. A male's scent lingered on the wolf though. There was no mark on the female, so she was free game. I stepped forward. The exhaustion was clear on the wolf's face. She was panting and trembling. How hard did she run?
The wolf bowed to me. Wait bowed. That made no sense, this wolf was obviously daughter of an alpha. The wolf shifted back. Teagan's bright red hair was unmistakable. "Stand back." I growled through the mind link. "Teagan." She collapsed. I scooped her up into my arms. What man? Who did she do it with? I could smell his seed all over her.
I ran back to the infirmary as quickly as my legs would allow. After laying her down I called for a doctor and left. Did the moon goddess bless her with a second chance? Those were rare, but Teagan was determined to only do it with her mate. Who was her mate? Would he chase her down?
Teagan
When I opened my eyes I was on a bed I didn't recognize. I got up. Tori stats. I ordered. She rolled her eyes at me. About 58 wolves. Some are on patrol at the borders. If we want to run we leave at twilight or dawn. That's when the ones on patrol start drinking and switching. I nodded. It wouldn't be hard to bust out of this place. I rolled my neck and cracked my knuckles. Alpha? I asked. You're not going to like this. I rolled my eyes as I started stretching. Just tell me. Okay. It's Marcus. So I really did see Marcus. This was bound to get interesting.
I opened the door to the room and found a white hall. There were no pictures or furniture, just white walls. It was different. I walked down the hall opening and closing doors until I found the one leading outside. I nearly cried as I breathed in the fresh air. Surprisingly there were no wolves guarding my wards. I decided then that I would leave. Just as I was about to shift I heard Marcus's taunting voice. "Leaving so soon?" I paused to look at him. "Yes. I need to go. I doubt you want Kain tearing this place apart." Marcus seemed to sadden at Kain's name. "Let's catch up!" Marcus said quickly.
I shrugged. If Kain hadn't found me yet he had probably given up. Marcus led me to another building that looked more like a huge cottage. We went inside and sat on one of the couches surrounding the fire.
