A few hours passed since Alec arrived at the party. People came to apologize for doubting the kind of person he was. At first, he didn't mind, but after a while, it was becoming annoying. It seemed that all people wanted to talk to him about was how Felicity was a whore and how much they pitied him. He didn't want to be pitied. Right now, he wanted to be left alone.
Kyle could see Alec was getting annoyed, and he decided to intervene.
"Okay, guys." Kyle grabbed Alec’s shoulder. “I’m just gonna steal him for a bit.”
He guided Alec away from the group of people they were with.
“Thanks,” Alec whispered.
“You’re welcome.”
They went to the other end of the house and joined a group of guys from their soccer team.
"Beer?" One of their teammates asked as he handed them two beers.
“No thanks.” Tate shook his head.
He wasn’t in the mood to drink. Kyle, on the other hand, grabbed one.
"Hey Alec, I hear you're friends with that fag."
"What?" Alec looked at Josh. He could already tell this conversation was going to end badly. “Who are you talking about?”
“You know. That scrawny blond kid in the lower class.”
That description only fits one person. Alec’s hands balled into fists as he tried to stop himself from saying something he was going to regret.
"You mean Lukas." Josh nodded. "He's not gay."
"He looks like a fag to me."
“What does a gay person look like?”
“You know. Like him.”
"So he’s gay because he's smaller than you and is close to his childhood friend Charlie? What's gay about that?"
"You know what I mean."
"No, I don't, actually." Alec crossed his arms over his chest. "I'm close to Kyle. Do you think we're fags?"
"Well, no, you guys are on the soccer team."
"Oh. So if Lukas played sports, he'd be less gay?"
"What? No. Stop twisting what I'm saying."
"I'm not twisting anything. I'm just trying to understand your logic. Which is clearly lacking."
Alec saw Josh’s eyes flare-up. He took a step forwards, and Kyle placed himself between the two.
"Okay, guys, let's calm down. No need to get in a fight." Kyle grabbed Alec and dragged him away. "What the fuck, man. Are you trying to start a fight?"
"No."
"Then what was that?"
"Nothing.” Alec knew there was no point in trying to explain why he did it. “I'm going to go to the bathroom."
Alec left without saying another word. He couldn’t stand being there anymore. Alec headed to the second floor that seemed to be quieter and less crowded. He went down the hall, towards the bathroom, and stopped.
Felicity was leaning up against the corridor wall with a drink in her hand. She looked like she could barely hold herself up, and Alec could only guess that she was drunk. Alec sighed, and it caught Felicity's attention. She turned towards him, and her face lit up. She let go of her drink, spilling it on the floor, and she attempted to make her way to him.
"Alec!"
"Felicity. You're drunk."
Alec tried to walk away from her, but she had somehow managed to catch up to him even in her drunken state.
"Look. You made your point." Felicity grabbed onto his shirt. "Everyone knows now because I fu-fucked up. But..." She pressed herself against him. "I miss you, Alec. I need you."
Alec sighed. He had really hoped that she would leave him alone after everything that happened, but it had only seemed to deepen her want for him. He took her hands and pried them off his shirt.
“Then you shouldn’t have cheated.”
“You should have told me not to cheat on you!”
Alec couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“I shouldn’t have to tell you not to cheat. It should be common sense.” He shook his head. “I'm going to say this one more time. Because you don’t seem to understand." He leaned a little closer. “You and me are over.”
Felicity stared at him a second before slowly pulling away. Alec watched as she staggered past him. After a few steps, she stopped and turned around.
"Yo-you'll come back to me." She smiled. "You'll see."
Alec sighed and left. He went back to the first floor and tried to look for Kyle, but he was nowhere to be found. After looking one more time, he gave up and went home.
