The nickname thing is interesting. Dr Glickman probably (hopefully) knows what he is doing and likely had clues it could actually be beneficial for their doctor-patient relation, as Sam guessed. But, how weird it is for me, with the cultural difference! Already Canadian doctors using my first name (full and no nicknames) without asking permission made me cringe so bad at the beginning. Now I'm more integrated, I'm thinking, why was that even a problem? It's fascinating how things may make you comfortable or uncomfortable due to culture, and when you really think of it not much makes sense and you can even wonder why you feel what you feel.
