For a split second, Luke panicked. Who was this man? And why was he coming to their table?
His hair was a silvery color, but he was not old. He was mildly suntanned with a strong, angular face and chiseled abs that were visible through the black vest he wore open with nothing under it.
The stranger smiled and bowed a bit. "Good afternoon, my ladies—sir. Miss, you wouldn't happen to be Princess Elora by any chance, would you?"
Elora was red as an apple. "Yes. I'm Elora—you can call me whatever you want to, though."
The man laughed. "Of course, Miss Elora. I'm Jay. Is it true that you're on a mission to slay the Demon King?"
Elora nodded.
"If possible, I would like to join you in your quest. I would not hinder you, as I can hold my own in a fight. However, I know I cannot take the Demon King alone." And with that, an electric crackle surrounded Jay's body.
During the whole of the conversation, neither Elora, Illana, or Luke had been able to look away from Jay.
"I don't think we need your help, but thanks for the offer," said Luke.
"Nonsense," said Illana. "We need all the help we can get, and lightning users are rare in these parts. Jay, you would be an enormous help to us."
Taking a pen and parchment from within her robes, Illana scribbled an invitation. Somehow, Jay was able to join the party.
Luke scowled and checked out the stranger’s stats.

Luke's eyes went wide. He didn't think Jay would be this strong. Maybe it was a good thing that he was joining. He at least made for a decent backup plan.
Illana smiled. "Meet us here in a month. We'll discuss plans and whatnot then."
Jay nodded. "As you wish, milady."

The next day Jay was at the bar again, staring into a stein of mead and muttering to himself. He did that often. It disturbed people sometimes, but it made them leave him alone. Which he appreciated. Usually.
"I'll keep getting stronger, Father," he murmured. "I'll live up to your expectations. I swear."
The man next to him shot him a strange glare with his one working eye and moved to a different seat.
Looking up from his mead, Jay noticed Illana at the other end of the bar. She'd just arrived and was placing her order with Felicia. Leaving his drink to secure his seat at the bar, Jay sauntered up to her.
"Good evening, milady," he said.
"Good evening," said Illana.
"You have a rare beauty," said Jay. "It must be difficult for you to find men who are anywhere near as attractive as you are."
Illana said nothing.
"Well, how does it feel, now that such a man has found you?"
Illana laughed. "Oh, you can't handle me. Go waste your words on a prostitute. I appreciate the laugh, though."
Jay leaned in closer to her. "Suppose we have a little skirmish, you and I. Hand to hand. The winner gets whatever they want."
"You're ten levels higher than I. I know you'll win."
"I just want to know what your lips taste like."
Illana stepped away from him, red eyes flashing, shoulders squared. "Keep this up, and I'll take you off the mission," she snapped. "And you might just get kicked out of the bar as well. Frankly, I hope you do." With that, she told Felicia to cancel her order and left.
Jay watched as she left. The swaying of her hips enchanted him. "One night," he murmured as he walked back to his seat. "One night with her, and I'll die happy."
His food had arrived while he'd been gone. He banished the thought from his mind and ate happily.

"Wake up, Luke," said King Liam the next morning, throwing the curtains open. Luke sat up, startled, blinking in the morning sunlight.
"What's going on?" he asked.
"There is to be a sparring match," the king said. "Warriors and mages, level ten and below. I want to test your strength."
Luke looked at him.
"And being king does get a bit boring sometimes," King Liam admitted. "I could do it with entertainment."
"When?" Luke asked.
"Tomorrow evening, I wanted to give you a bit of time to warm up. And if you do well, Luke, I have an old relic you can have."
Luke bounced out of bed. He couldn't wait to test his newfound strength. Throughout the day, Luke continued to train hard with Madeline by his side as he did his strengthening training and his magic training. The system once again did not reward him with any points. What was the point of doing all this training if he wasn’t being rewarded?
After an exhausting training with no rewards, Luke went to hang out with the two princesses. He told them about the world he was from. Likewise, they also told Luke about their world and how the Demon King had come out of nowhere to try and rule. Due to the conflicts between the kingdoms, they weren't able to unite against the Demon King, making him stronger and more confident that he could take over the world.
The next day, the spar started during dinner, but before Luke was given a chance to fight, a trumpet sounded throughout the castle. Suddenly, the spar was forgotten.
