Finally, after hour upon hour of mind-numbing travel, they came to Crimson Village. It was busy as an anthill, just as Luke remembered it. After all, Crimson Village produced most of the castle's food.
A strange commotion was going on in the center of the village. Curious, Luke approached the knot of people only to grow furious. Somewhere at the center of the knot was a person, clad in dirt and brown rags. She was screaming.
"Stop it! Stop it!" she cried, as boots and fists and rotten vegetables pelted her from every side. "I'm half-human! I'm one of you! Why are you treating me like this?"
"You're nothing like us!" someone from the crowd bellowed. "Get out of here, Demon spawn!"
The word demon brought an angry jeer from the crowd, and the violence surged again. "That's for my brother!" someone yelled, grabbing the girl by her purple hair and driving his fist into her cheekbone. "You killed him!"
Luke finally got to look at the girl's paper-white face. She was a child. Taken aback, he used his insight ability, and what he saw shook him.

Luke didn't remember her from the game. He was, however, surprised that she'd maintained her HP despite all the violence from the villagers. He strode through the crowd, shouldering his way deep into the knot of attackers, and grabbed Clara by the wrist.
Clara looked up at Luke and gave a grateful gasp. Tears spilled onto her cheeks, and she hugged him tightly. "Thank you," she whispered. "My mom said there were people like you in this world."
Luke glared at the villagers. "Look," he said, taking Clara's beaten arm and holding it up for all to see. "She bleeds red, just like you. She's a little girl. Some of you have kids her age; you wouldn't want the Elves beating them up just because they're Human, would you?"
"You're a traitor!" someone shouted. "Who do you think you are, defending the demons! You ought to kill her on the spot!"
Luke glanced over and immediately recognized the man who spoke. His name was Blaze. Flames were painted on his armor, his eyes glowed red, and the wind blowing through his vibrant red hair made him look quite a bit like a human torch. Beside him stood Selena, his traveling companion. She was a water mage, blue-haired, and round-faced. The skirt of her aquamarine dress waved in the wind, and she held her staff at the ready.
Blaze stepped in front of Selena and drew his sword, pointing it at Luke. "Kill her now or die with her. Your choice."
Before Luke could respond, Blaze charged at him.
Illana and Elora drew their wands, but Luke waved them off, drawing his own sword. "This isn't your fight," he called. "Stay out of it."
"Fine," said Illana. "Unless it's an unfair fight. Then we're saving you."
But judging by the fire in Luke's eyes and the weapon in his hand, the fight was fair enough. And it would be quite interesting to watch.
Immediately, Blaze used Fire Slash, his most powerful attack. Luke used Flash, turning into light particles in order to escape. After retreating to a safe distance, he was able to look at Blaze's stats:
Name: Blaze Fisher
Age: 20
Race: Human
Level: 20
Fire Swordsman
HP: 2000/2000
STR: 400
Mag: 200
Agi: 200
Stam: 400
Exp: 150/200
Abilities: Fireproof
Skills:
Slash (the simple slash with a sword, 20 DMG, No CD)
Fire Slash (fire sword slash attack 50 DMG 30 sec. CD)
Fire Slash Spin (3x slashes while spinning three times, 50 3x times DMG, 1min CD)
Fire Blade Block (blocks one incoming attack, 1min CD)
Fire Booster (boost attack by 200 pts, 3min CD)
Seeing Blaze's level gave Luke confidence. He used his Full Thruster attack, but Blaze used FireBlade Block to dodge Luke's sword. Somewhat surprised, Luke turned to his next move—Slice and Dice. Blaze seemed undeterred by it, and his body began to radiate heat. He was using Fire Slash Spin.
Luke backed off, but he wasn't fast enough. He'd been burned, reducing his HP every five seconds. He'd lose a total of 300 HP.
Thinking quickly, Luke used Light Heal on himself, but not before Blaze used a Fire Booster. Luke put up a light shield, which Blaze bombarded with all his most vicious attacks.
Luke had no idea Blaze was going to be this fast.
He needed a new plan, and quickly. When the light shield broke, Luke planned to use a full thrust attack. Before he could strike, though, he was thrown back by some sort of hot blast. Head spinning with questions, Luke rechecked Blaze's stats. He'd gone from a Level 20 to a Level 25.
Blaze attacked again, and Luke tried a defensive move. He wasn't fast enough. He was taking damage far quicker than he was giving it, and on the verge of losing the match.
Luke rallied his strength and strategy. He couldn't lose to Blaze not after he'd tried to kill Clara.
Luke looked at the girl, how beaten up she looked, and raised his sword again.
