I used to get depressed, thinking that no one loved me and that I was just a useless person who was just in an orphanage, being loved even though i didn’t deserve it.
But aunt May never gave up on me. She made me realize that I was wrong. She really understood me, since she came from an orphanage herself.
The couples' names were Ren Wilson and Adisa Wilson. That meant that my last name will change to Wilson.
Later in the evening, when we were having dinner my new parents started to say I would like my home. They explained to me that there was an apprentice that was working with my father.
They said I may encounter him at home since he sometimes usually home. His name was Royce Lexington, “a strong and kind lad that would help anyone who was in need of help”. They started to tell me that I would live in Boston as an apprentice for my mother.
Boston, I thought, isn’t that a huge place where some noble people live?
When I asked them, they started to laugh. At that moment I felt embarrassed and started regretted what I said. They explained to me that not a lot of noble people lived there and that they weren’t noble people either.
They were just normal who worked as a printer and a dressmaker. When it was getting darker, my parents let me stay in the orphanage one last time and pack all my belongings.
Before my parents left, they hugged me tightly and said,
It’s the year 1770. You are Amelia Latía, a 7 year old girl who is going to work as an apprentice for 11 years in Boston. You will learn how to sew and make dresses for your mother who is a dressmaker.
