Gally wrapped his arms around Amelias' waist. She turned in his arms, smiling up at him. "I missed you," Amelia whispered. It had been months since the pair had seen each other. "I missed you more jelly bean," Gally mumbled against her hair. That nickname made her blush. It had a long story behind it, which she didn't really want to think about at the moment.
Gally lifted her a bit, allowing himself to lay on the bed pulling her small frame next to him. Amelia kept her head in his neck as they were enjoying the time they had left before WCKED came and took either one of them. There was a new virus unleashed, called The FLARE. It was hurting the world, making the sun come closer by the week WCKED took many children to save them, making sure there was a future.
Amelia ran her fingers through his hair, humming quietly. She lifted her head as she heard frantic knocks at the door. She moved into a sitting position. Her father yelled that he was coming, but it was too late. Hearing a loud bang, the front door caved in.
"Check him!" said a deep voice. By this time, Amelia was up and had her ear pressed to the door in anticipation of what was happening, "He's infected." Another person said. "Fuck." The first man mumbled and cocked his gun. "Mr. Miller, you are infected with the FLARE virus. I'm sorry, I need to know where Amelia Miller is so we can take her somewhere safe."
"I'm not telling you where she is!" He growled out. Amelia peeked her head out to see what was happening. Her father was on his knees, a gun pointed to his head, around five men standing there in black clothing that said WCKED on the arm.
She let out a small gasp, one of them looked up. Her father must have heard it as well, "Lia, run!" her old man shouted. She slammed the door closed and looked at Gally, "The window!" She hurried out, he ran over, getting it open within seconds. But he wasn't fast enough, her bedroom door flung open, she let out a scream as a hand grabbed her hair.
Gally went to grab her arm to get her out, but she shook her head, "go! run!" She whispered, shoving something in his hands. He looked hesitant, not wanting to leave the girl he loved. But her eyes said otherwise. So he listened he ran and kept running until he was far enough away.
The boy looked back as he heard a gunshot and a scream. His heart stopped. He wanted to run back to her, he wanted to see if Amelia was ok, but she told him to run.
He should have gone back for her.
<Back in Amelia's house, before the gunshot >
The girl was dragged to her living room, where her father was her fathers' once lively skin was now pale. He had thick black veins coursing over his body. He looked mental. It was almost like he would hurt someone if he wasn't restrained.
"Lia, why didn't you run!" He had a moment of clarity. His eyes cleared, he looked over at his daughter.
"I had to let him get away." She whispered. "Gally?" He asked. She nodded to answer his question.
"Check her." The leader said. Ignoring their conversation, a guy with a scanner looking thing came up to her, put it to her face, letting it scan. After a few seconds, the results came back. "She's immune. We need to get her back to the compound. Ava will be happy." The man stated.
"You aren't taking my Lia!" Her father growled out, this time, his eyes glassy. He didn't look like his usual self.
"He's a crank. Get Miss Miller onto the truck, kill him." The leader ordered, the two men grabbed Amelia. She trashed in their arms, trying to get her small frame loose enough to getaway.
As she was pulled out of the house, she was pushed onto a truck. Which was full of a bunch of kids who all seemed to be knocked out. She heard a gunshot then everything was black.
"Lia! Lia!" someone shook her awake, "wake up!" they hissed, trying to wake up faster. She woke up after a second and looked up to see a mop of blonde curls over top of her, "you're going up today. They need you in the infirmary. Mrs. Paige needs to talk to you."
"Thank you, Anna." Amelia sat up and let out a frustrated sigh, getting her attire on, she walked to the infirmary. Where she saw Ava Paige, the monster that took her father and her boyfriend. She sat on the bed and looked over at the woman, who stood, smooth white clothing, hair slicked back in a ponytail. "Thank you for coming, Lia," Amelia looked up, "It's Amelia." she seethed.
My apologies, Amelia. Today is the day you go up. You will be sent to group A. You're A-14: The Fixer. There is a male that needs your help." She paused, making sure the girl was paying attention. "You will keep only the memory of your name and the feeling of your boyfriend, Gally. Yet you will not have any familiarity with knowing him." Ava paused once again, "Is that understood, Miss Miller?"
Amelia nodded, knowing what would happen if she decided to defy Avas' wishes. Hours later, an IV was inserted into Amelia. Once again, everything started to go black.
