I parked my car in the drive way of a dinner. The same one I went with E. What are fucking odds. Well everyone insisted they just wanted junk food. He was obviously acting all smug about it. I choose to ignore him which was a bad idea. Ethan and I were left alone again. Aubrey dragged Luke to go and make our orders as she interrogated him. He didn't seem to mind though so I wasn't worried. Here I am sitting uncomfortably across Ethan avoiding his face by looking out side the window which was pitch black and all I could see was our reflection. Great.
"Why are you so uneasy? Was it something I said?" I could hear the smug in his voice. I rolled my eyes and looked him dead in the eyes but turned away immediately. I can't seem to look in those damn eyes for long without being sucked in.
"I have no recollection of anything you say really." I tried acting unbothered. He chuckled.
Luke and Aubrey came back with trays of food and set them in front of us. They were laughing at something I guess one of them said.
"Harry did you know Luke is Tyler's brother?" Aubrey asked amused by the information.
"Like Tyler my classmate?" I asked turning to him.
"Yeah, he's my kid brother."
"The way you talk about him I thought he was in primary school or something." I chuckled.
"Don't say that around him, he doesn't like when I do that." He laughed.
We ate and I decided to get us some drinks. Aubrey was having too much fun talking to Luke they forgot. Typical behaviour on Aubrey's side really.
"So what do you guys want?"
"A strawberry shake for me." Aubrey said staffing a fry in her mouth.
"Same here." Luke said.
"Let me guess the basic bitch wants vanilla." I said shaking my head at Ethan.
"You know it." He said with a smirk.
"Wait how did you know..." Aubrey frowned in confusion.
"Aah.... that's what he always get when we go here so I just assumed. Well I'll be back shortly." I said and walked away before she could say anything else.
Shit.
I got back to the table and sat back in my original position. We talked for a bit and Luke decided to show me his office, he was remodeling. Floor plans and such. I felt something going up my leg and I glanced down and it was Ethan's foot. I looked at him and he totally was ignoring me busy kissing Aubrey on the cheek. I looked back at when Luke was showing me. Then I felt it again. I looked at him and he was sipping his shake with a suppressed grin fighting to break free.
What the hell.
The rest of the night was me try to ignore Ethan's foot as he acted oblivious. It started getting late and we decided to go home. Luke called Scott and left. I drove Aubrey and Ethan home. Aubrey fell asleep on E's shoulder in the back seat. The whole car ride I could feel him looking at me through the rearview mirror. I intensely focused on the road. The one time I our eyes met he winked at me and smirked. I let out a nervous sigh as I pulled next to their building. Then they eventually left. Thankfully.
I threw my keys on the coffee table and decided to take a shower it was hot and I need it. I walked out of my bedroom in my boxers and socks and flopped on the couch with a blanket turned on the TV and put something random to watch till I fell asleep. I looked at my phone light up and start buzzing. I reached for it looked at the caller ID and tsked.
Seriously.
"You're still awake?" The voice on the other side asked. I smiled.
"What do you want E?" I tried to sound annoyed to cover up the happiness I felt.
"Nothing just checking in."he said voice husky.
"You literally saw me less than two hours ago." I said in a low tone as I laid on my back and put my feet up on the couch pulling the blanket up to my chest.
"I know." He said almost in a whisper.
We got quiet. It wasn't uncomfortable or awkward. All I could here was his breathing it seemed to relax me. I figured he was outside smoking or something.
"You know that's bad for you." I said in a soft low tone.
"Sometimes it's the things that aren't good for you that we tend to drift towards." He matched my tone. Some part of me hoped he wasn't just talking about the smoking but I declined to acknowledge it further.
We got silent again. It was longer than the first time.
"Good night Harry." He said in a husky voice. It made the hairs on my neck stand up and my stomach do back flips.
"Night E." I said then hung up.
I sat there just thinking. Why was he calling me, why was he acting like that today? I thought until I figured the only person who would actually answer that was E. I gave up and went off to bed.
