“Are you the one? Are you The Messenger?” Eve asked, bracing herself for the answer.

A silence of many nanos filled the space. Eve thought that perhaps the vapor had abandoned her but the feeling of closeness was still within, so she waited.

A sudden shimmer of energy washed over her. It was warmer and more intense than before.

“No, I am not The Messenger.” The vapor announced. “But I am here with you and for you. For now.”

“Why?” Eve asked. It was her favorite question. “Murmur, why?”

“You are my reason.” Murmur replied to Eve through telepathy. It was a pure connection.

“I don’t understand.” Eve gathered herself once again, feeling the uncomfortable sensation of being adrift.

Another ripple of energy took her by surprise. “Murmur, please...”

“All will be revealed. For now, we must prepare for a journey.”
