It wasn’t until almost two months later that Xander gained full control. Kalmte asked to be with his Fated, and Xander agreed. One day, he woke up and was in human form, Kalmte hiding in the back with a smile on his face.
Looking over, he saw that Regina was back to human form as well. In between them on the bed was a little baby boy, thick black hair already curly on his head.
Placing a hand on the boy’s head, he leaned over to finally kiss his wife. It had been too long since he had seen her in her human beauty.
“...so cute! I can’t wait until they shift. If he’s like this in wolf form, what do you think his human form will be like?”
Hearing the girls approaching, Xander pulled the cover over him and Regina, making sure their baby boy was still okay. He was smiling when Sammy pulled the door open.
“Xixi!”
They rushed forward, only to be shushed by the man. They both were still sleeping, and they needed it.
‘You girls sure are loud.’
Nora crept forward, pulling the blanket back to see the human form of their family’s newest member.
‘Can’t help it, Xixi. He’s so cute!’
Sammy nodded, sitting on the edge of the bed. ‘You are gonna have to fight to keep teenagers off this one.’
‘And remember how cute Mary is? I wish you luck, Xixi.’
Mary, oh how he wanted to go back home to his baby girl. Now in his right mind, he wanted to do so much. Talk to his sisters, find out how Mathias can convince people to turn so quickly, hug his baby girl and spend time alone with his wife. He wanted to show Mary her baby brother and meet the nieces and nephews he didn’t know existed.
‘Sammy did-’
‘They found Ruby; she was in some cellar at the edge of the pack land. We found another girl; she was also taken to the hospital. Nana and Papa are talking to the Councilmen, organizing everything and stuff like that. Once Gigi is up, we can go home.’
For the first time in his life, he wanted to shake Regina awake.
‘Go pack everything; I want to go home today.’
The girls ran off without another word, their footsteps running upstairs where the bags were.
The plan was to get home before Regina went into labor, but just in case, they had Theta Polo pack clothes and items for them. Since there were already bags at the door, Xander figured the man had stopped by.
Nora and Sammy ran around, delivering clothing, giving out food, and laughing the whole time. Once he was dressed, Xander dressed his son in a shirt that said 'Daddy's Little Wolf Pup' and carried him out to meet his Nana and Papa.
Sergio was first on the list, the wolf still on the porch.
“If you were any fatter, you would have blocked the door.”
Sergio didn’t even growl, eyes focused on the baby boy.
‘What will you name him?’
“Still to be determined. Give me time, old man; I just got up today.”
This time he did huff, shifting his weight to bump into the man. Xander walked away, hiding an insult on his tongue.
In the shade of the trees, a table was set up, warriors in blue on either side of Councilmen Colemen. Smelling his approach, Mavis was up first, gently taking the boy away.
“Oh, you are just the cutest, yes you are, yes you are!”
Atta smiled at his wife, Councilmen Colemen thoroughly ignored now.
“Excuse me, Councilmen, but his Nana would want to see him as soon as possible.”
“Oh, no worries, Xander. I understand. Besides, we were basically done. Transport has been finalized, and I think we have overstayed our visit.”
Atta stood, prying the baby from Mavis’s hands to hold the baby himself.
“Thank you for your help and for believing in Gina. I know there were some on the Council that didn’t like the idea of her hunting Mathias.”
By now, Nora and Sammy were finished, and it was their turn to fight over the baby.
“It was the least I could do; after that attack all those years ago, the werewolf world changed. I can’t tell you how many Luna’s I had asking if it would happen to their Alpha. Having the Royal Family back to sense these Blood Wolves has made all the difference.”
It had taken years, but the entire Royal Family had moved to the US. Lesser-known branches were still in hiding, or they didn’t know their connection. But the central family was here, working with the Council to protect Werewolves. With Mathias locked up, there shouldn’t be any more problems or Blood Wolves, and life could finally calm down.
“Now we can go back to normal. It’s about time that I got a nice and easy date night with my wife.”
At that moment, Regina exited the Cabin and strode across the field.
Time had changed, Regina. Still unable to talk, the woman carried confidence. When she allowed her Royal power free, she drew everyone’s attention. When she turned 25, her fur even changed, shimmering gold hidden in the gray coat. She called for attention and obedience, even if it was never vocalized.
Sensing his wife, Xander turned and smiled at her. Fully dressed with messy bed hair, she was beautiful. She kept her hair short, easier to pull up out of the children’s hands. But that smile, still somehow shy, that’s what called for him.
Regina waved at him, heading for her baby.
‘Nora, Sammy, don’t you dare split my child in two.’ The women just smiled as Sammy handed the boy over. ‘I wake up, and my baby wasn’t there, now; who was responsible for that?’
“That would be me, Gina. I couldn’t help it; Mavis kept asking about him.” Pushing the blame to her mother, Regina dropped the subject at Mavis’s glare at her husband.
Granting him a kiss on the cheek, she turned to the Councilmen.
‘Thank you for your help, I’m sorry I wasn’t able to lend more of a hand.’
The power behind her Royal Voice always made him weak; she could command an army with a whisper.
“Don’t you worry, you had more important things at hand.” Colemen looked down at the still sleeping boy. “And thanks to you, your sisters can go home, and we have stopped the making of Blood Wolves.”
With final goodbyes, the Councilmen left with the guards at her side.
“Now, I think it’s time we all went home.”
Agreements were heard, but Xander had a different idea.
“I say, we hit the hospital first. There are some very important people we need to see.”
____
It was strange being human after being in wolf form for so long. Most mothers shifted around the third trimester and didn’t change back until the baby did. There was a strange aching in her body; standing up and using her hands were more difficult than Regina remembered them being. Then again, she wasn’t this stressed with Mary was born.
At first, they wanted to wait until all the Blood Makers were caught, but it took more time than they thought it would. They were married, and the idea of having children wasn’t something she could push aside any longer. After Mary, they waited because they finally knew where Mathias was.
‘Do you think we are done now?’
Regina wanted to agree with her wolf. It had taken years of her life, years that she won’t get back. Her Moe wasn’t even here for the birth of her son. For once, Regina wanted time to stop so she could have time with her family.
Speranza went quiet, Viribus as always, was near the surface. It wasn’t the wolf’s fault; there just wasn’t much room in the back for two wolves.
The drive wasn’t too long; thankfully, the baby slept for all of it.
‘We need to name him sooner rather than later; I don’t like calling him the baby.’
Xander only laughed, earning himself a smack on the arm.
Pulling up at the hospital, Xander’s leg started to bounce. Passing the baby to Mavis, Regina clung to her Fated.
‘I’ve missed so much, I don’t think I can wait any longer.’
He didn’t have to; both were awake, in the same room, and asking for their big brother.
Xander practically sprinted the whole way, taking the stairs instead of the elevator that was taking too long. All other thoughts were pushed aside when he opened the door and saw his sisters.
They left as girls and came back as women.
Robin was first because she was in front of the door. Her hair was longer, her face had more lines and wrinkles. Yet her smile was the same, as well as the sparkle in her eye.
Ruby’s hair was still short; she hated it getting in the way. The distant look on her face worried him, though.
Before he could get a word in, a man blocked his vision.
“What do you think you’re doing here, scrawny.”
He may not have been as muscled as this dude, but he wasn’t a skinny kid.
“I can ask the same thing. No one should be here but my sisters.”
The man took small steps forward, eyes meeting at the same level. Xander was thin, but he was tall. This weird dude was big, but he didn’t scare Xander. That much.
“Sanderling.”
He stepped around the stranger, tears coming to his eyes at the childhood nickname. Robin and Ruby had gotten up, Xander rushed over to finally hug his family.
“I found you, I finally found you.”
Together the family cried, over the past, what their uncle did and the time lost.
“We knew you would, thank you, Xander.”
A cough drew them apart, the man from before with a raised eyebrow.
“Can I ask what is going on?”
At that point, Regina entered with the baby back in her arms. She ignored the man, rushing forward to hug the girls.
They shared several looks, and Xander could only guess they were mind linking. They each smiled down at the baby, asking question after question.
“Um, Angelica? Honey?”
Then Mavis and Atta entered, Sergio, Nora, and Sammy trailing behind.
“My goodness, look how big you girls are now!”
Mavis embraced them, the others staying back. Nora and Sammy slipped over to Regina’s side, whispering in her ear.
“Will someone please tell me what’s going on!”
The room went quiet as they all turned to face the forgotten man.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, Don!” Robin pushed back to hug the man.
Xander tightened his hold on Regina’s waist.
“Right, there is a lot to say. First, I’d like to introduce my brother, Xander, his Fated, Regina Luce, and her parents, Mavis and Attalo. Xander,” She looked up and smiled at her brother. “This is my Fated, Donovon.”
Xander didn’t know what to think. His baby sisters really had grown upon him.
“After Un-Mathias took us, we traveled for a while. We would stop at a pack hidden in some basement. Eventually, we reached the Red Lake pack, and I found Don.” She blushed but didn’t even duck her head. “Love at first sight, basically. After that, he couldn’t keep me in the basement, so he kept Ruby instead.”
Reaching out a hand, the two sisters stood side by side.
“Once we had Calli, he started taking her and started letting Ruby out more. He said he needed something to ensure I wouldn’t snitch to the Alpha. It worked, and soon we had three beautiful children; he always had someone with him.”
Robin left her Fated, hugging Xander again.
“I can’t tell you how happy I am that you freed us. Now I can live with my family without fearing that someone would die. My children can be free at last.”
Xander couldn’t be upset. Donovon had probably given his sister hope and light in the middle of all of this. Even though he didn’t know the guy, Xander was grateful.
Xander then introduced the rest of the strangers, telling the short, simplified version of how they got Nora and Sammy. He explained the Blood Wolves, how Mathias was trying to create them and how it was Regina’s job to hunt them down with her family. It was a lot of information at once, but the large family relaxed once everything was cleared up.
“Where are your children, Robin?” Mavis finally asked the question they were all thinking.
Donovon coughed, speaking first. “They are with the Luna; I didn’t want them freaking out with all the police that were here. Suzanne is bringing them today.”
Right on time, Callidora burst through the door and ran into her mother’s lap.
“Mana! I was so worried! Baba said you had to come here, but we couldn’t follow. Are you okay! Do you have boo-boos?”
A little boy followed next, crying and stumbling until his father picked him up. The Luna came next, a baby girl with curly hair on her hip. Robin cried along with her children, reunited and safe at last.
“Mana?”
She turned, rubbing the boy’s black hair. He beckoned her down, whispering in her ear.
Robin let out a laugh, bouncing Callidora on her lap.
“Well, Lex, this is the other side of your family. This is our family.”
