FLASHBACK
“Now then…” Said Merlin as she peered through the cell’s bars at the azeels who used to be Sir Nanashi. “Aren’t you an interesting thing?”
“Let me out!” It screamed in a raspy voice.
“Oh, you can talk?” She mumbled, as if to herself. “Fascinating!”
The rest was all quite blurry to Merlin. But she remembered being infected. And that’s all that mattered.
A while after writing the cause of her ‘death’ on a note, she laid down on her bed, exhausted from the transformation her body was going through.
“If I knew how to stop this… I could… But I don’t know how the blood works. It seems to be bypassing… the fact that I stopped my own time…” Her eyes closed. But she flew them back open. “No… It’s magic canceling… I’ve always suspected that Wesley made these… But the fact that he’s immune…. To the effect the blood has… is almost proof…”
She picked up a knife from her bedside table and held it loosely. She would have tightened her grip if she had the energy. “But who am I to judge?” She thought of Belialuin, and the trouble she caused it. She thought of whether it was right to bring back Arthur from the dead for her own desires.
Mustering all her energy, she plummeted the knife into her heart. “As I thought-” She said as she gasped for air after coughing blood. “My eternal life was canceled along with the magic that sustained it.” With her last and final breath, she grabbed the note and pen and scribbled:
PS: Congrats on the wedding.
And then, the great Seven Deadly Sins’ Boar Sin of Gluttony perished. Leaving nothing but a corps to show for it in the end. Just as all do.
