~Maddy~
I was making my bed on a morning that I had been looking forwards to for a very long time. Ever since the end of eighth grade, I had been looking forwards to going to high school with my friends and sister. (Malissa, Ally, and Jake). We were all able to get into the same high school, and we are all pretty excited.
Multiple different things have happened ever since the end of seventh grade. My family adopted a son. His name is Nathen, and he is five years old, and he is a slight bit spoiled, and a little bit annoying. But that is okay, he is my brother now, after all.
When I finished making my bed, slid my laptop and iPhone into my bag, and make sure that I had everything that I would need, and went downstairs to have some breakfast with my parents, Nathen, and Malissa.
When I got down, I saw that Malissa was already sitting at the table with an open astronomy book and a bowl of oatmeal.
“Good morning mom and dad,” I said as I made myself some oatmeal.
“Hi, honey, how did you sleep?” My mom asked.
“Not that great, but I feel surprisingly rested.” and poured some hot water from the kettle into my oatmeal, and walked to the table. “I was up virtually all night because of the excitement.” As I sat down in a chair next to Malissa, I heard Nathen run in.
“Hi, mommy and daddy!” He shouted in excitement. “Where is my cereal?”
“Let me get that for you, son.” I heard my dad say. “And tone it down, we don’t want to be a bother for the new neighbors that moved in just last night.”
“Oh, okay. But why do we have to have neighbors?” He asked as my mom handed him his bowl of cereal.
“Nathen honey, it is not up to us.” My mom said. “Now hurry up, your dad has to go to work and I have to drive you all and Maddy and Malissa’s friends to school.”
And of course, Nathen kept talking back. "He should really work on his manners more." I thought to myself as I ate my oatmeal. "It is starting to get annoying at this point."
As I placed my dish and spoon in the sink, I walked up to my room to sit at my desk and write in my journal for a little bit before I go to school. Because knowing my brother, it is going to take him a while to finish eating.
And I guess journaling helps me to clear my mind and to get into a pleasant mood before going off to school.
As I put my journal out on my desk, I heard Malissa walk into the room (the room that we now share, which I like), and said,
"I know that I have said this many times, but I am glad that we share a room now." She said. "I feel like sharing a room with you puts me in a better mood. And I guess it is easier for us to hang out and have the little talks that you said multiple times that you enjoy."
I giggled slightly and said; "And it is also easier to hang out with Ally and Jake because of the better arrangement."
"I am nervous though," Malissa said. "I saw that Alissa posted that she moved to a new house just last night on the PostSomeContent app."
"Just think about the positive things," I said. "I doubt that she would want to mess with you anymore. With all due respect, she and all of your other old friends hate your guts."
"Yeah, I know." She said. "But at least we have each other."
