“Now announcing King Adam” 

One of the two guards standing outside of the entertainment room announced my presence. 

One of the many things I don’t like about being King is all of the manners and brown nosing everyone does around you, but Quinto and Katelyn don’t do any of that. It is quite refreshing. They act like themselves.

Katelyn was best friends with my sister growing up. She has short brown hair to about her shoulders and light blue eyes. She is of the cat tribe, like I am of the fox tribe, but we are of the same kingdom.

“Addy!” Katelyn shouts jumping up from her chair to give me a hug. She almost tripped on her feet, she has always been just a little bit clumsy when she is excited.

She is stopped by two guards crossing spears in front of her. Her face looked sad and her short haired ears drooped.

“At Ease gentlemen, Katelyn is a good friend. Let her pass.” I wave my hand.

Her ears shot up with a smile as she continued to run towards me. “Addy! It’s been too long!” She wraps her arms around my torso.

“I agree. Let’s sit and talk.” I pull her from a hug and put my hand on her back guiding her back to her seat. “And how have you been Quinton?”

Quinton is also of the cat tribe, he has blonde hair and brown-green-blue eyes. He seems cold at first but when you get to know him you would find out he is a big softy... But don’t let him know I said that, he hates being called a softy, he is prideful.

“I’ve been fine. How have you been Adam?”

“Well with work being work I haven’t had much time to spend with the boys sadly-”

“The boys! I have to see them before we leave!” Katelyn cut me off.

“Haha, of course you will be able to see them, but umm… There is something that I should say before you see them.”

“What is it? Is there a bug?” A bug is what we call a problem with their bodies that would make it not function normally, it is rare but most times easy to deal with. When someone has a bug they are excused from any work and their family is given a pension to take care of them as well as free medical treatment for the child. Most times these children don’t make it past childhood so we try to give them good childhoods, and make it easy on their families. Since it is so rare and doesn’t happen often, we are able to do this.

“No, there is no bug so far, but… I think there might’ve been some kind of fault in their magic gates, somehow they opened extremely early.”

“WHAT!?” They both shout.

“Are they okay?” Katelyn said with a very worried expression on her face. I look at Quinton who has an equally worried look.

“They seem to be fine, nothing seems to have changed with them but they need to have a closer eye on them from now on to make sure their magic doesn’t lose control or grow stronger before they are ready.”

“What happens if it grows stronger?” Katelyn asked

“It could cause their bodies to grow weak and develop a bug.” Quinton answered.

“That’s correct.” I said

“How is May taking this?” Katelyn asked

“I-I haven’t told her just yet, she is off on a trip right now, and I am taking care of the boys. I don’t know how I am going to tell her.”

The room was silent for a while.

“When is she coming back?” Quinto said

“It will be in about two days.”

“So you have two days to figure out how to tell her, but before you do that, get someone to bring the boys in here before Katelyn starts to cry.” I look over at Katelyn who is on the verge of crying.

“Ah, you are right.” I wave my hand and a guard appears. “Bring the boys, make sure to bring their magic gate keys if they are there.” I wave my hand again and he disappears.

“Oh ya, so what did their magic gate key turn into, they are supposed to represent their personalities right? Katelyn, aren’t you curious?” Quinton said looking at Katelyn trying to cheer her up.

Katelyn looks up at Quinton and he pulls out a handkerchief. He lifts her chin and wipes her tears. Quinton smiles and then Katelyn.

“Yes, I wanna know their magic gate keys (MGK)”

“Ha, okay. Yukine has a white bunny, and Fuyuki has a red cat.”

“Wind and fire huh? Those are complimenting elements, well they are twins, but even so, usually siblings don’t have complimenting elements.” Quinton said.

“I didn’t even think about that.”

“But more importantly, the cat and the bunny! So Cute!” Katelyn said.

“The type of animal reason is different for everyone. The bunny could mean he will be fast, soft-hearted, healthy, or even weak and prey worthy.” I said

“And the cat could mean fast, nimble, strong, or even a hunter. Any way you look at it, they seem like they will be total opposites, other than being fast.” Quinton said.

“Yes, but this is only part of their personality right? And it is just superstition, it hasn’t been proven. I heard about a man who got a cheetah, but he was terrible at hunting and was also very slow.” I said

“I heard about that one too, but he was also pretty smart and good at setting traps.” Q said

“Where are the babies! Shouldn’t they be here soon…” Katelyn pouted.

“I am sure they are almost he-”

“Now announcing The Princes Yukine and Fuyuki.”

“Enter.”

Two maids carrying Yukine and Fuyuki enter with a few guards. They looked like they were still asleep. Good. Their MGK looked like they were not manifested.

“YAY!!” Katelyn jumped out of her chair again.

“Please be quiet, their ears are still quite sensitive and if you wake them then they might start crying.”

“Oh- right haha, can I hold one?”

I stand up and take Fuyuki from one of the maids. I started walking towards Katelyn.

“I will take this one.” Quinton stood in front of Katelyn and took Fuyuki. Katelyn looked betrayed.

“Alright, here you go. Be careful.” I handed him Fuyuki.

He held Fuyuki and sat down, he looked at Katelyn with a look as if to say ‘you snooze you lose’.

I turned and grabbed Yukine from the next maid. They were both still asleep and wrapped in a blanket. They make me happy everytime I see them and their sleeping faces. I turned back to Katelyn and gave her Yukine.

“Careful, and sit down while holding him.” Her face lightened up.

“He is so adorable.” She said in a soft happy voice. She then sat down. She put her finger in his palm and he wrapped his fingers around her finger. “He is so small.”

“Well of course, he is a baby.” Quinto pointed out.

“Well of course he is small because he is a baby, but it is still adorable. They really look like you Addy.” Katelyn said as she smiled.

“Ha, I think they look more like their mother.” I said

“I agree with Adam, they are cute so they don’t look like adam at all.” Quinton with his smart mouth.

“Ha, as humorous as ever. You haven’t changed much.”

He grinned. “So, which one is older?”

“Fuyuki is older by about 2-3 minutes.”

“Shh.. If you both keep talking you will wake them up.”

Yukine started to open his eyes “hnnng” He was blinking his eyes like they were fighting against him. He yawned “aahng. Mmh.”

“He is so cute. Look at those little sleepy eyes.” His eyes widened and he stared at Katelyn. “Aww, so cute. Hi Sweetie, I am your Auntie Katie. You are so sweet.” She said in a soft voice

Yukine’s perspective

I woke up in the arms of a lady with short brown hair and... Cat ears? She says that she is my Aunt? But aren’t I a fox? Is there bi race stuff? Well at least she isn’t very loud.

“Hah” I smiled and reached my arms out to her. She seems nice.

“Aww, that is adorable!”

I wonder if Fuyuki is here.

“Wahh-ahh-hah!” Ouch, that hurt my ears and surprised me, that sounded like Fuyuki. Of course being a baby like myself, hearing crying started making me cry.

“What’s wrong fu?”

“That guy looked kinda scary. When I woke up he was staring at me with a cold look.”

“Ah, let me take one of the-” The king tried to say

“That’s alright Addy, we have children. We can handle a little problem like this.” A maid handed them bottles and they gave us the bottles. I could tell that Fu got a bottle too by my ears not screaming for help.

“Are you alright now Fu?”

“... Yes, I don’t think he is as scary as I thought…”

“What made you change your mind? Just because he gave you a bottle?”

“Uh.. no… He is making funny faces…”

“They said they had kids, so they would know what babies would want to make them stop crying right Fu?”

“Pfft, is that supposed to be a duck?”

“What?”

“Oh, uh nothing. Haha.”

“Now I am really curious.” He started laughing.

We both finished our bottles and they continued talking.
