“Oh right,” Ash remembered what the doctors said to him, “The doctor wants to contact your parents and let them know what happened.”
Emily’s expression instantly turns cold from his words. He felt like he stepped on a landmine. It wasn’t Ash’s fault since he didn’t know, but Emily wasn’t close with her family. If anything, she prefers not to have them in her life as much as possible. Ash quickly changes the subject.
“Oh, Orpha just wrote back to me,” he said with a nervous voice, “Hazel got his message and will be coming here soon.”
Her stone cold face relaxes, “Is that so.”
“If I didn’t know that Hazel was a Beta, I would have thought that she was an Alpha,” said Ash.
Emily’s eye twitch, “What makes you say that?”
“Every time I mention Hazel’s name,” he points at her eyebrow, “The frown there disappears. Anyone else would think that she was your pair.”
Emily gave a small chuckle, “I wish it was like that.”
“Well, how nice would that be,” said Emily.
Ash quickly shut his mouth. He forgot that Emily was an Omega while Hazel was a Beta. Even if they end up together, because Emily was an Omega, her fated pair could always appear. With that kind of anxiety, who would ever want to commit in a relationship that could fall apart at any moment notice. Not only that, an Omega’s heat can only be calmed down by an Alpha. Hazel, who is a Beta won’t be able to help Emily when she needs it the most.
“Sorry… I didn’t mean to make you feel worse,” said Ash.
“For being a creep, you sure know how to read the mood,” said Emily as she smirks at him.
“Would you leave out the creep part already?” said Ash, tired of hearing it.
“Then, why were you staring at us during the bonfire?” Emily wasn’t going to stop calling him creep until he clears it up.
No matter how she looked it at, he looked like a creep to her. Just stealing glances at them while they’re not looking, who wouldn’t call such a person a creep?
“Well…” Ash scratches his head wondering if he should tell her.
It would clear up the misunderstanding, but at the same time, it would make it worse as well. Who knows if she might call him by a different name?
“It’s kind of a long story…”
“I’m stuck in the hospital for a while,” said Emily, “I got time. So explain.”
Ash wasn’t sure if he should even say anything to someone that was demanding an answer from him with such a tone. He didn’t know if he should find it cute, or annoying. But, he didn’t hate it, since she was just being honest with the way she was talking and felt.
“Well…” Ash told Emily about what happened in his middle school.
As he explained to her what happened, he skipped out the intercourse portion because he felt embarrassed and shy talking about it. When he finished, Emily was looking at him with a serious expression. She places her hand against her chin and looks towards the blanket, “I see... “
“Therefore, I wasn’t checking up on you two,” said Ash, “I was just making sure if the smell was coming from behind me, and why, that’s all.”
“Hmm…” Emily wasn’t exactly convinced, but Ash didn’t sound like he was lying to her either.
“You sure are a dedicated Omega,” said Emily, “I’m surprised that Alpha didn’t bite your neck when you were in heat.”
“Everyone said the same thing,” said Ash.
“Why couldn’t you see their face?” Emily asked, “That would have solved everything.”
“You know how heats are like, it makes Omega’s lose concentration of their surroundings,” Ash answered.
“Are you sure it was a female Alpha then?”
Ash nods, “I can tell by the voice, and the figure…”
Ash wanted to say that it was also because of the intercourse, but he left that part out. His ear was starting to burn just from remembering that incident.
“The figure?”
“A-anyway,” said Ash, “That’s why I was glancing back at you two during the bonfire, okay. I wasn’t trying to be a creep.”
Emily shrugs at him, “Sure…”
“You don’t believe me?”
“Not really,” said Emily, “But if you say so then I guess.”
“You guess?” Ash felt offended.
Although he didn’t tell her everything, he still told her the important part of the female Alpha helping him. But, could you really blame her when some stranger keeps stealing glances at you in the dark?
Ash shakes his head, “Never mind… As long as you know now that I didn’t mean to look at you two.”
A knock came from the door catching both of their attention. The door opens, revealing Hazel. She was dressed in a light casual outfit with a basket of fruits hanging from her elbow. Emily’s face brightened up as she saw Hazel, “Hazel…”
“I hope I wasn’t interrupting anything,” said Hazel as she entered the room.
She places the basket on the table beside the bed and greets Ash. Then, she turns to Emily, “How are you feeling?”
“Not bad,” Emily answered back.
Ash stands up from his chair, “Well, since Hazel is here, I’ll be leaving.”
“Already?” said Hazel.
Ash nods, “I was only waiting for you to get here. The doctor said that it was best for someone that Emily was familiar with to be in the room with her.”
“I see,” Hazel gazed at a small bow to him, “Thank you for looking after Emily.”
“You’re welcome,” Ash looks at Emily, “See you at school.”
He leaves the room and closes the door behind him. Hazel sits down on the seat that Ash once sat in. She took out a small knife and started cutting an apple for Emily.
“You’re not going to ask anything?” Emily asked with a small voice.
“I can pretty much guess what happened,” said Hazel as she finished peeling the apple, “Did you want me to contact Uncle and Aunty?”
Emily looks at her with her eyes frowning, “Are you joking with me right now?”
