Emily released her pheromones in the air with a strong force. The air in the room was cold, and the pressure was unbearable. Those who are Omega or Alpha wouldn’t be able to breath properly if they were inside. Hazel, however, just brushed the heavy cold air aside.
Hazel places the apple on a plate she had brought with the basket, “I’m not.”
“This time they attacked you while I was gone,” said Hazel as she gave the plate of cut up apples to Emily, “If Ash hadn't contact the police, you would have been in big trouble.”
“You say it as though I would have lost if it wasn’t for his help,” Emily takes an apple and chews it.
Hazel gave a nod, “You’re in the hospital aren’t you? That’s proof right there.”
Emily looks down at her blanket with an irritated face, “I didn’t need his help. I had it under control.”
“I spoke with the doctor before coming here,” said Hazel.
Emily’s body tenses up as Hazel said that. Since Ash wasn’t her relative, he didn’t have access to her diagnoses, but Hazel was a different story. Emily chews on her lips tightly. Hazel gave out a sigh, “Emily, we need to contact Uncle and Aunty and let them know what happened.”
“Over my dead body,” Emily glares at Hazel, “You hate them as much as I do. So why the hell are you suggesting that option?”
“Because this is getting out of hand,” said Hazel with concern in her voice, “They brought out an Omega pheromone stimulator and injected it into you for goodness sake.”
“I was still able to fight back didn’t I?” Emily argues.
“Don’t go relaying on your Alpha instinct to always help you…!” Hazel argues back, “Things could have gone ugly with an allergic reaction!”
Emily wanted to talk back but Hazel was right. There was no telling what would have happened had Ash and his sister not call the police in time. The least that could have happened, she could have fainted, the worse, her body could have broken down.
“Yes, I do hate them,” said Hazel, “But if asking for their help will keep you safe, then I don’t mind sucking in my pride and beg them.”
Emily looks at Hazel with wide eyes. She looks away as she grits down on her teeth. Asking her parents for help was the last thing she wanted. No, asking those people was the last thing she ever wanted to do. She doesn’t want to see Hazel doing it either. Those inhuman people that only seek out for the strongest and rarest gene who would go as far as experimenting on their own child.
“I’ll be more careful so don’t call them,” Emily said with a small voice, “Please…”
“...” Hazel reaches out to hold her hand, “It’s not about being careful, Emily. It’s your life we’re talking about.”
Emily gets what she was saying. She had hidden the fact that she was an Alpha to hide from her parent’s searching eyes. She couldn’t pretend to be a Beta because she was a special kind of Alpha. Her genes were messed with by her parents, so she was a different kind of Alpha. The only gender she could pretend to be while hiding from her parents was to pretend to be an Omega. However, nothing good came from pretending to be an Omega.
Emily wished that she could have pretended to be a Beta, but her special condition wouldn’t allow her to do so. As an Omega, Emily expected to receive lecherous gazes, and disgusting touches from other people. She just didn’t think that it would be this bad. But, it was worth it as long as her parents couldn’t find her.
That is why she never took the threats Roe used against her seriously. She was confident in her Alpha strength which was strength through long experiments. However, it was her recklessness and dependence on her Alpha body and instinct that caused her to end up in the hospital. No matter how durable her body was against physical attack, chemical reaction was still another thing.
“Were you able to talk to your father today?” Emily wanted to talk about something else.
She didn’t want her mind to linger about her parents. Hazel knew that and went along with it. She was going to tell her anyway.
“Yes,” said Hazel with a small smile, “He made this for me.”
Hazel took out an origami and showed it to Emily. It was a swan made out of blue construction paper. Emily smiles at the small swan, “Uncle is getting better at it.”
“Right,” said Hazel, “He said that he was going to make a thousand of them so that his wish could come true.”
“His wish?” Emily tilts her head, “But Uncle has life in prison, is he going to ask for a parole?”
Hazel shrugs, “He didn’t tell me. He said that it was a secret and his wish won’t come true if he told me what it was.”
“Maybe I could go ask him next time?”
“I doubt he would tell you,” Hazel grins at her.
Emily grins back, “Who knows? Maybe he will.”
They snicker at each other as they continue to chat. The day passed by just like that. Ash went back to his house after riding a taxi from the hospital. He paid the driver and went inside. As he closed the door behind him, Addie came rushing into the front door giving him a shock.
“Well?!” she asked.
“Well what?” he was caught off guard, and had no idea what she wanted from him.
“Is she okay?”
“Oh,” Ash gave out a sigh, “Yeah, she’s fine.”
Ash leans down to take off his shoes. Addie was still hovering around him, “Is it her?”
“Her what?” Ash places his shoes into the cubbies.
He goes into the hallway that leads to the kitchen as Addie follows him.
“Is she the one you were looking for?” Addie asked.
“No,” Ash answered, “She’s an Omega, Addie.”
“Oh…” Addie was disappointed to hear that, “She was so pretty though.”
“How could you tell when she was covered in blood?” Ash asked in disbelief as he took out a water bottle from the refrigerator.
Addie blinks at him, “Aren’t all Omega’s pretty?”
Ash gulps down a few water into his mouth before saying, “How should I know?”
He gasped out for air and placed the water bottle down, “Are you trying to say that I look like a girl?”
Addie stares at him for a while, “I forgot that you’re an Omega…”
“Huh?” He narrowed his eyes at her, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Addie turns away, “Nothing.”
Did my little sister just call me ugly?
“Addie…” Ash called out after her, “Come back here…!”
