All six kits shook the bells on their collars happily in a small parade as they walked through the forest. They eventually found a small log and Milo hopped onto it right as Lily did. They fought for space for a second before they settled next to each other. The other four sat around the log and looked up at them.
“As leader of Fangclan, I will appoint a deputy.” Lily said proudly.
“And I will have a say in it because I also want to be a leader.” Milo added in.
Lily huffed impatiently. “Whatever. Sharptooth,” she addressed Oreo. “do you promise to protect the clan with your sharp teeth and do a good job?”
“Yes!” Oreo said, excited.
“Then you are the new deputy!” Lily purred. “First order of business, we’re gonna catch food like big cats!”
“Yeah, we are!” Milo threw in quickly.
“Bloodscar, stay in Fangclan camp to heal if we get really hurt, okay?” Lily said.
Bumblebee nodded, proud of being the medicine cat.
“Strongclaw you’ll come with me and Speckledrage. Pearlfire you stay in camp incase we get attacked, and Sharptooth you’re in charge while we’re gone!”
Coco nodded as well, hardly listening, and Oreo purred.
“Okay Loudroar!”
Milo, Lily, and Cosette got together and set off to go find prey. Cosette quietly made one of her legs go lame and she dragged it behind her, drawing a path back to camp in the dirt. The kits hardly noticed the jingling their collars were making since they were so used to it, but the prey definitely noticed. The bells scared off every last trace of prey in the areas they visited, and so they inevitably had to turn back empty handed. Cosette led the way using the path, but Milo and Lily were too disappointed to notice. When they got back, their littermates looked up hopefully, but quickly realized they weren’t going to eat that night, and the six of them curled up together to sleep out the hunger. That night the kits slept well, as the night air was warm with a cool breeze that stirred up the scents of the forest. But the breeze also picked up and carried the smell of six hungry kittypets all the way to Thunderclan camp.
“Their scent is everywhere, and they scared off all the prey in this area. Certainly they can’t be hard to find.” A dusty blue cat hissed under his breath as he padded around quietly.
“We haven’t been looking very long, I’m sure they’ll show up eventually.” said the gentle voice of the smaller she-cat by his shoulder. She shook her head slightly. “They’re awful close to the Thunderpath. We can only hope Shadowclan didn’t stray a bit far and find them..”
“I hope they found them.” the tom growled. “Let the kittypets be their problem instead of ours.”
The she-cat perked up, freezing, as she scented the kits. She immediately dropped down into a hunting stance and stalked up to the makeshift camp. She was just about to gently wake the kits up when the blue tom let out a loud yowl of shock as Oreo slammed into his flank furiously. The other five kits woke up and immediately puffed up and raised their hackles.
“Prepare to be overthrown by Fangclan!!” Milo shouted leaping forward.
As Oreo tussled with the tom, failing to leave any marks on him, the other kits jumped forward to attack the other cat.
The she-cat jumped back in shock and tried to shake off the kits without hurting them, and the tom pinned Oreo down with his huge paw.
“Can I just take care of this one now?” he growled, pressing down on her.
“N-” the black she-cat shook Milo off of her back as he leaped onto her. “-O. Don’t hurt her, mousebrain.”
Oreo’s eyes were wide with terror as the tom’s claws unsheathed slightly. “It would be easier just to take care of them now, though.”
She hissed at her counterpart. “Softstar wouldn’t like that.”
The tom glared at Oreo for a second before taking his paw off of her. She gasped for air as he quietly sat down and licked his chest, almost as if that never happened. The kits jumped off of the she-cat to check if their sister’s okay, grooming her briefly before looking up at the older cats.
“W-We’re cats of Fangclan. I-If you take another step near S-Sharptooth, we’ll rip you to shreds.” Milo hissed, shaking slightly.
The blue tom scoffed. “I’ve never heard of a ‘Fangclan’ before. You’re just playing a mousebrained kit’s game.”
The she-cat was a little kinder. “Fangclan? Did you start a clan?”
Lily nodded. “And it’s the best Clan in all of The Outside!”
“Littlestream they’re clearly just lost. We either finish them off or bring them back to their cushy twoleg homes.” The tom said, glaring at the kits.
Littlestream shook her head. “Normal kittypet kits wouldn’t know about clans, Deepvine.”
Deepvine grumbled to himself for a second before he let his shoulders slump, giving up. “Fine. We’ll bring them back to camp as prisoners until Softstar agrees with me, then.”
Littlestream rolled her eyes and helped Oreo up with her muzzle. “Come on, kits. We’re heading back to Thunderclan camp. Surely you know what that is, right?”
Milo’s eyes lit up as he leapt to his feet. “The Thunderclan?!”
“That’s the one.” Littlestream purred with a smirk. “Now stick behind me, Deepvine will snap at you if you get too close to him.”
The kits all got up and bounded after her as she and Deepvine made their way to Thunderclan camp.
