'Death'
It was the perfect word to describe that voice, the gods felt shivers run down their spines and the unexplained fear. They are all assassins and no ordinary onea at that, but still the voice managed to inject fear. It was cold, lifeless, and steel that one will think it was spoken by a puppet rather than a living being. A rare voice and it was the first time they heard a dire one almost belonging to a devil.
They all turned to Mydrrin and the later tries to inspect the darkness at his back, no one’s there he can’t feel any proof of life or even a breath. Instinct told Myddrin to step away from the bookshelf he sure was the only thing pressing against the wall.
The gods were stricken as they try to examine the darkness They couldn't feel any prescence but the voice was concerning yet they begin to doubt if they were just hallucinating.
“Come out, how long have you been there?” It was Odin who first got back to his senses, now he was regretting why it was just the dim chandelier serves as their light
.
After a while the shadow came into light having to walk few steps since even her shadow is not visible since she’s in her mission suit.
The gods still paralyzed. The reaper stared at Gandulf, Eir, Freya, Shin and now Myddrin joining them in the small sala made for the guests, Odin stride to their area. Right blue eyes and red left eyes is now staring them the proof of Albinoid, in the shadow’s eyes you can see an abyss, vast nothingness, blank like a doll with no emotions. All wondered if was it just a moving mannequin but they’re no fools because the breathing was calm.
“I did you a favor and came out rather than to have you wait, your orders are now heard” same soulless voice
“So how long have you been there?” Odin trying to speak louder in order to pull the souls of the gods back to reality that seem to escape from their sensed.
“Basically from the beginning”
“From the beginning?!? And we didn’t noticed?” finally Freya gasped
“ I Could’ve killed you thousand times if I was an assassin from the other organization, so yes from the beginning”
“You are not a bastard, you’re a bitch! I almost got killed by a bitch?!?” Shin hysterically scorned
“Get over it Shin” Eir now being amused
“And the reaper was just at my back the whole time I was there, didn’t even feel anything”
“She was not a phantom for 12 years for nothing” Odin butting in
“Then you know you are to work with others.” Gandalf trying to act cool
“Yes and No”
“You can’t go against orders” Odin trying to read her eyes but failed deliberately. He’s been trying that for ages and not once did he succeed.
“According to what I heard, I am to work in stealth and just be a backup”
“ If that’s how you want it then its fine” Myddrin trying to make the meeting shorter since he can’t stand the cold aura around the reaper.
“Are there other things you want me to do other than not killing your people?”
“How should we address you?” Shin trying to pry on the kid he can’t believe was on the other end of killing him in their last encounter
“Bastard, Bitch, Killing Machine, shadow, it, Phantom, reaper, just whatever you want, not that it bothers me, anything else?” There was nothing in her voice making it more difficult to know if she is willing or just due orders that she’s answering the inquiries.
She seriously knows how to shut people. They all feel embarrassed yet even amused on how they address her in their meeting, astonished that she was all unmoved even with all the insults.
“We won’t force you to work with them but at least meet them in person for formality's sake” Gandalf trying his luck
“Is that an order?”
The gods looked at each other and nodded in unison.
'im so fucked up, that's why i hate moving in packs.' She was disgusted with the idea but couldn't voice it out
“Tell me where and when”
Long silence fell into them and when she decided to leave the place.
“Just how old are you?” Freya still amazed and confused on how to deal with the shadow wanting to know her even just a little, it was a first for her to face the reaper this close. Freya can see a towering height around 175 cm with a small figure wrapped in black coat with her eyes only being visible, the reaper is certainly a she and is too young to believe and beyond the scarf is a beauty beyond comparison. She knows how to judge people well and confident on her discernments.
“Should I answer that?” She turned to Odin
“You are here for an order to be presented before the Templar so I think you should.” Odin
The impaired eyes look straight to the grey steel jewels of Freya, wishing she could gorge them out but decided to answer the question.
Freya feeling like she’s pierced through yet decided to stand tall and wait for her answer like a rain in the drought.
“19”
All fell into silence, doing mental analysis, she was known to be a phantom for 12 years, feared by the previous Templar and what they know is that even the Yggdrasil knows her existence. It’s just impossible, too surreal.
“I’m not an impostor just so you know” She added after examining the puzzled look
“Just when did you-“
“Trained when I was four and had a first official tarot death card from the Order when I was seven”
The reaper cut off Eir’s question since she looks like she can’t find the apt words to phrase her questions.
They all fell into silence and pried no more, knowing that behind those eyes are dark abyss and hellish experience they won’t dare or even have courage to delve into. At a young age must have been a nightmare and a pious reason for her to be soulless as how she acts now.
She was not a killing machine; she was not some phantom that lusts and goes lunatic for blood but she is just a lone wolf that doesn’t want anyone to pry the darkness of her past that was a certain reality they all came into realization.
The bitter after taste of loneliness was on their heart yet they can bear the sadness they feel and let her walk away.
