The golden dragon stood towering over the brave knight, its big glowing red eyes glaring at him. The young man was not afraid however, for he had his trusty sword and shield ready for battle. The dragon opened its mouth and words came out "turn and leave silly human the princess belongs to me now. If you challenge me you will not leave my valley alive". Its voice sounded surprisingly cool, as if it hadn't actually come from the dragon itself.

The knight however was unafraid, he spoke with a very calm voice and replied "be quiet foul demon the smell of your breath reminds me of the stench of my dead horse"

"Very well human ready your blade for battle. That I can teach you the difference between a puppy and a dragon, the difference between a calm harmless creature and a FEROCIOUS BEAST!" The beast said angrily and without saying another word the monster drew back its head and shot fire out of its mouth. A huge faming ball came speeding toward the Knight but he waited for the right time then slapped it away with his shield he then took one step backward then charged forward. The dragon breathed a long stream of fire at the young man, but the knight was not afraid he didn't dive out of the way as many would do but instead he put his shield in front of his body and ran through the flames then leapt onto the dragon's face and stabbed it between the eyes.

The beast let out a horrible cry and tried to shake him off causing the shield to slip out of the Knight's hand and fall to the ground. The Knight's other hand slipped and the hilt of the sword left his palm the scales scraped his armour as he slid downhill. He dug his right gauntleted hand between two scales and came to a halt on the dragon's nose. It stopped shaking and stared at him, the knight smiled.

"Hello ugly" he said "say would you be kind enough as to help me get to your back so that I can slice this ugly thing of your neck". The dragon kept staring at him, the knight stared back and said "no? Then allow me to show you something amazing, wait, I don't think you'll be able to see it. My apologies friend" he climbed up its face using the scales for grip but just then the beast started shaking again.

"Puny human, get off so I can crush you!" The monster started to shake more violently causing the knight to slam into the great thick scales of the dragon but that did not stop him, instead he just laughed and continued climbing "gosh I had no idea that riding a dragon would be such an unpleasant experience, hearing the tales growing up, I always thought it would be fun. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong?" He laughed as he finally he reached its eyes, the dragon looked at him with anger as it shook.

The knight looked back with a cocky expression and said "take a good look because I'm the last thing you're ever going to see" He jumped across to its right eye, grabbed onto a scale beneath it and adjusted himself so that he was seeing eyes to eye with the dragon he clenched his fast and drew it back then sent it flying forward with all the strength he had in him and as fast as he could the beast saw the Knight's hand coming and closed its eyes the effort however was futile as the Knight's hand broke through the hardened eyelid like it was nothing. Just then the beast's eyeball exploded and the dragon let out another terrible shriek and cried out "I WILL NEVER HAND HER OVER TO THE LIKES OF YOU!" The dragon stopped shaking itself and started to run.

The knight smiled "running around like a mad cow won't do you any good motherfucker, you're doomed dragon" the boy turned around smiling but stopped as soon as he saw the huge canyon drawing closer.

"Human it seems like you didn't hear me, today we both dine in the underworld!"

"No, only you will die, today is not my day asshole I live today to fight another day" his grin returning, the knight started to climb up its face again this time stopping between the eyes to pull out his sword it took a bit more strength than expected, as soon as he wrenched it out the knight hurriedly climbed up to the forehead then on the top of the humongous head.

The knight took one last glance behind and then started to run along its long narrow back as fast as he could the boy smiled as he passed between the two great wings. He continued running down its back then dived off the exact moment the dragon hit the edge of the canyon. The knight landed on his back with a thud. He jumped to his feet quickly and edged slowly toward the canyon sword in hand ready for anything but before he reached the edge a jolt of pain shot through his body causing him to collapse.

It was dark when he woke up, the stars twinkled in the night sky above him and the wind was cool against his face. He was then startled by a feminine voice "welcome back to the waking world sir knight" the voice sounded cheerful, yet he couldn't help but feel a chill creep down his spine. He attempted to rise to his feet but quickly realized he couldn't move

"the poison currently flowing through your veins is preventing you from moving" the woman knelt next to the knight and relief settled in his eyes as he saw the familiar beautiful face of the woman he had been searching for all these months. "Princess Rosalina, you're alive....I was so worried". Something was wrong, very wrong.

"What is the matter sir knight?" she smiled, and the knight saw how it didn't reach her eyes which seemed cold and dead.

"How did you know about me being unable to move?" the knight stared into the princess' eyes, he already knew the answer to his question and he dreaded it. He was starting to feel something he hadn't felt since he was a child, Fear.

The princess cocked her head to one side and feigned confusion, once again the knight noticed how the expression in her eyes didn't change "why sir knight, I know because I was the one who poisoned you" she held up a knife which was still dripping fresh blood, it was at that moment fear settled in his heart and he started to panic.

"I came here to save you!" he screamed, she smiled and plunged the knife into his stomach. The knight suddenly realized he was somehow unarmoured "please don't do this, you have to snap out of it" he pleaded, but his cries fell on deaf ears as she removed the knife and plunged it into him again, he watched and pleaded, he cried and screamed, he cursed and hollered as she kept stabbing him repeatedly.

It took a few moments before his cries finally subsided as he laid there dead, the princess shed a single tear "I'm sorry sir knight" her body went limp and she fell on top of the knight as the magic animating her left her body.
The dragon landed softly beside the bodies, the wound in his forehead was gone and his eye was completely healed. He then suddenly transformed and in his place stood a tall, slender, regal looking young man. He wore flowing robes of dark purple with silver along the edges, his black hair reached down to his shoulders and his eyes burned a fierce crimson. He scoffed at the bodies and snapped his fingers as he walked off, the knight suddenly rose to his feet and trailed after the man. His steps were unbalanced and he stumbled a few times, he didn't know it but he was alive again yet still dead.
