She waited for this moment. At midnight, she sent the text. It was his birthday. However, she did not realize that this would be the last she would be talking to him freely. She was very emotional but she was happy to have written that text.

However, after a couple days the spark started to fade away. She did not see him the way she did before.

They were only friends. Nothing more or nothing less. How he had lost his opportunity. For after she started slowly separating herself from him, she started seeing other boys. Then she found the one she could love.

She felt bad for the boy she went out with. He was her first date and kiss. However, he was not her first boyfriend. That title went to another boy who loved her. And she loved him back.

“I hope you are alright. I pray for you. I hope that you can achieve your goals and dreams.”

She said into the night sky. The light she once held up for him had faded into the darkness. She placed his things one stop and turned to walk away. In the figurative darkness, she left him behind.

She hesitated. What if she was making the wrong choice? However, she looked straight ahead to see her lover smiling at her. It was time to close that chapter in her life. So, she let him go. In turn, she found someone who loved her the way she deserved to be loved.

“Goodbye, my dear friend. I hope we meet some other day with our partners.”
