“Thanks, dear!” Mrs. Fridolf said, she reached for the basket in my hand, grabbing it and bringing it closer to her.
‘Mrs. Fridolf looked like your run-in-the-mill grandma, but she was supposedly a real badass when was younger, or that's what Mr. Bill said.’
“Ah!” Her face lit up, she placed the basket down and grabbed two books off a table near the door.
“Could you give this to my grand-daughter Rachel?”
“Well, I sort of ne…” Her eyes seemed to sparkle, making her look like a puppy, and making me give in.
“Alright, you would like me to give this to the library, I presume,” I said looking down at the books.
“Yes!” She handed me the books and coins, for her order, and sent me on my way.
“Good-bye now!” She yelled at me who was already halfway down the walkway of the house.
I started to skip in the direction of the library, and a sudden hint of embarrassment crossed my mind. ‘UGH, why am I so stupid!’ My mind drifted to the incident in the kitchen, ‘Why did I have to burn my finger the second he stepped in!'
My cheeks started to heat up, probably making me look as red as a tomato, my grip on the books got tighter. Then my head started to hurt, I place my palm on my forehead, sighing when a sudden thought came to mind. 'Ugh, and what was that dream this morning, it felt so real, but why was I a ba…'
“AH!” I heard a yell, then a thud when I hit the ground, there were books all around me. 'Wait was that yell from me?' I looked around to see where they came from and saw… ”A person, ah I’m so sorry!”
They were a girl with long auburn hair, she seemed a bit dazed. She shook her head, “I’m supposed to be the one who's apologizing.” She got up, patting herself off and offered a hand to me.
“Sorry it was on impulse,” I said with a chuckle, making her giggle a little.
“Eek!” I shrieked as soon as I remembered the books on the ground, she was already starting to pick them up.
“Um, let me help you!”
